Amit Shah d077536386 virtio: pci: switch to new PM API
The older PM API doesn't have a way to get notifications on hibernate
events. Switch to the newer one that gives us those notifications.

Michael S. Tsirkin 4678d6f970 virtio_blk: fix config handler race
Fix a theoretical race related to config work
handler: a config interrupt might happen
after we flush config work but before we
reset the device. It will then cause the
config work to run during or after reset.

Two problems with this:
- if this runs after device is gone we will get use after free
- access of config while reset is in progress is racy
(as layout is changing).

As a solution
1. flush after reset when we know there will be no more interrupts
2. add a flag to disable config access before reset

Rusty Russell e93300b1af virtio: add debugging if driver doesn't kick.
Under the existing #ifdef DEBUG, check that they don't have more than
1/10 of a second between an add_buf() and a
virtqueue_notify()/virtqueue_kick_prepare() call.

We could get false positives on a really busy system, but good for
development.

Rusty Russell ee7cd8981e virtio: expose added descriptors immediately.
A virtio driver does virtqueue_add_buf() multiple times before finally
calling virtqueue_kick(); previously we only exposed the added buffers
in the virtqueue_kick() call. This means we don't need a memory
barrier in virtqueue_add_buf(), but it reduces concurrency as the
device (ie. host) can't see the buffers until the kick.

In the unusual (but now possible) case where a driver does add_buf()
and get_buf() without doing a kick, we do need to insert one before
our counter wraps. Otherwise we could wrap num_added, and later on
not realize that we have passed the marker where we should have
kicked.

Rusty Russell 41f0377f73 virtio: support unlocked queue kick
Based on patch by Christoph for virtio_blk speedup:

	Split virtqueue_kick to be able to do the actual notification
	outside the lock protecting the virtqueue. This patch was
	originally done by Stefan Hajnoczi, but I can't find the
	original one anymore and had to recreated it from memory.
	Pointers to the original or corrections for the commit message
	are welcome.

Stefan's patch was here:

Rusty Russell f96fde41f7 virtio: rename virtqueue_add_buf_gfp to virtqueue_add_buf

all callers; I used GPF_KERNEL where it seemed obvious, left it at
GFP_ATOMIC otherwise.

Rusty Russell 7b21e34fd1 virtio: harsher barriers for rpmsg.
We were cheating with our barriers; using the smp ones rather than the
real device ones. That was fine, until rpmsg came along, which is
used to talk to a real device (a non-SMP CPU).

Unfortunately, just putting back the real barriers (reverting
d57ed95d) causes a performance regression on virtio-pci. In
particular, Amos reports netbench's TCP_RR over virtio_net CPU
utilization increased up to 35% while throughput went down by up to
14%.

By comparison, this branch is in the noise.

Ben Hutchings e74a8f2edb drivers/rtc/interface.c: fix alarm rollover when day or month is out-of-range
Commit f44f7f96a2 ("RTC: Initialize kernel state from RTC") introduced a
potential infinite loop. If an alarm time contains a wildcard month and
an invalid day (> 31), or a wildcard year and an invalid month (>= 12),
the loop searching for the next matching date will never terminate. Treat
the invalid values as wildcards.

Lars-Peter Clausen 6c3fb55793 drivers/rtc/: remove redundant spi driver bus initialization
In ancient times it was necessary to manually initialize the bus field of
an spi_driver to spi_bus_type. These days this is done in
spi_driver_register(), so we can drop the manual assignment.

The patch was generated using the following coccinelle semantic patch:
// <smpl>
@@
identifier _driver;
@@
struct spi_driver _driver = {
	.driver = {
-		.bus = &spi_bus_type,
	},
};

Donghwa Lee b148a27294 backlight/ld9040.c: regulator control in the driver
This patch supports regulator power control in the driver. Current ld9040
driver was controlled power on/off sequence by callback function in the
board file. But, by doing this, there's no need to register lcd power
on/off callback function in the board file.

Support for the Avionic Design Xanthos backlight device got added in
commit 3b96ea9ef8 ("backlight: Add support for the Avionic Design Xanthos

should have provided that Kconfig symbol never got submitted. It has

Jussi Kivilinna 71bc5d9406 asix: fix setting custom MAC address on Asix 88178 devices
In kernel v3.2 initialization sequence for Asix 88178 devices was changed so

NeilBrown 307729c8bc md/raid1: perform bad-block tests for WriteMostly devices too.
We normally try to avoid reading from write-mostly devices, but when
we do we really have to check for bad blocks and be sure not to
try reading them.

With the current code, best_good_sectors might not get set and that
causes zero-length read requests to be send down which is very
confusing.

This bug was introduced in commit d2eb35acfd and so the patch
is suitable for 3.1.x and 3.2.x

NeilBrown f2a371c5e7 md: notify the 'degraded' sysfs attribute on failure.
We currently only 'notify' changes to the 'degraded' attribute
when it decreases, not when it increases.

Notifying on failure is a little awkward as it happen in
interrupt context.
So instead, notify when we remove the failed device from the array,
which is very soon afterwards.

Rajkumar Manoharan 1a19f77f36 ath9k: Fix regression in channelwidth switch at the same channel
The commit "ath9k: Fix invalid noisefloor reading due to channel update"
preserves the current channel noisefloor readings before updating
channel type at the same channel index. It is also updating the curchan
pointer. As survey updation is also referring curchan pointer to fetch
the appropriate index, which might leads to invalid memory access. This
patch partially reverts the change and stores the noise floor history
buffer before updating channel type w/o updating curchan.

the section mismatch is OK. (Thanks Michal Marek)

Anton Vorontsov 6cfc2a2354 power_supply: Mark da9052 driver as broken
There are some problems with MFD part of this driver, so the

drivers/power/da9052-battery.c:293:2: error: implicit declaration of function 'da9052_adc_manual_read' [-Werror=implicit-function-declaration]

drivers/power/da9052-battery.c:348:1: warning: control reaches end of non-void function [-Wreturn-type]

Artem Bityutskiy 1dbebd3256 mtd: harmonize mtd_writev usage
This patch makes the 'mtd_writev()' function more usable and logical. We first
teach it to fall-back to the 'default_mtd_writev()' function if the MTD driver
does not define its own '->writev()' method. Then we make block2mtd and JFFS2
just 'mtd_writev()' instead of 'default_mtd_writev()' function. This means we
can now stop exporting 'default_mtd_writev()' and instead, export
'mtd_writev()'. This is much cleaner and more logical, as well as allows us to
get read of another direct 'mtd->writev' access in JFFS2.

Artem Bityutskiy dac2639f98 mtd: do not use mtd->read_oob directly
Instead of checking whether 'mtd->read_oob' is defined, just call
'mtd_read_oob()' and handle the '-EOPNOTSUPP' error which will be returned
if the function is undefined.

Additionally, make 'mtd_write_oob()' return '-EOPNOTSUPP' if the function
is undefined.

Artem Bityutskiy 016c1291ce mtd: mtdoops: do not use mtd->panic_write directly
Instead of checking if 'mtd->panic_write' is defined, call 'mtd_panic_write()'
and check the error code - '-EOPNOTSUPP' will be returned if the function is
not defined.

Artem Bityutskiy cd621274b0 mtd: do not use mtd->get_unmapped_area directly
Remove direct usage of mtd->get_unmapped_area. Instead, just call
'mtd_get_unmapped_area()' which will return -EOPNOTSUPP if the function
is not implemented and test for this error code.
