sk_pacing_rate has beed introduced as a u32 field in 2013, effectively limiting per flow pacing to 34Gbit. We believe it is time to allow TCP to pace high speed flows on 64bit hosts, as we now can reach 100Gbit on one TCP flow. This patch adds no cost for 32bit kernels. The tcpi_pacing_rate and tcpi_max_pacing_rate were already exported as 64bit, so iproute2/ss command require no changes. Unfortunately the SO_MAX_PACING_RATE socket option will stay 32bit and we will need to add a new option to let applications control high pacing rates. Linux kernel ============ There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/ There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
