Hans Verkuil e74d7e6d34 [media] bttv: remove g/s_audio since there is only one audio input
Note that the current driver does not implement enumaudio (so apps cannot
tell that audio inputs are present), it does not set V4L2_CAP_AUDIO, nor
does it set audioset when calling ENUM_INPUT. And G_AUDIO doesn't set the
stereo flag either. So these g/s_audio ioctls are quite pointless and
misleading. Especially since some surveillance boards do not have audio
at all.

Hans Verkuil b8e2a361ce [media] bttv: do not switch to the radio tuner unless it is accessed
Just opening the radio tuner should not cause a switch to the radio tuner.
Only after calling g/s_tuner or g/s_frequency should this happen.
This prevents audio being unmuted as soon as the driver is loaded because
some process opens /dev/radioX just to see what sort of node it is, which
switches on the radio tuner and unmutes audio.
This code can be improved further by actually keeping track of who owns the
tuner and returning -EBUSY if switching tuner modes will cause problems.
But for now just fix the annoying case where on boot the radio turns on
automatically.

Note that the private chroma agc control has been replaced with the standard

Hans Verkuil d9b6707673 [media] bttv: disable g/s_tuner and g/s_freq when no tuner present, fix return codes
If no tuner is present, then disable the tuner and frequency ioctls.
We can remove a number of checks from those ioctls testing for the presence
of a tuner.
Also remove some tuner type checks (now done by the core) and fix an
error return when the prio check fails.
Finally some 'unlikely' statements are removed since those only make sense
in tightly often executed loops, otherwise they just clutter up the code.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 385cd33c8d [media] em28xx-dvb: Don't put device in suspend mode at feed stop
Putting em28xx in suspend mode when a feed stops is just plain
wrong. Every time a new PES filter is changed, the DVB demux
code will stop the current feed, and then start a new one.
If are there any code that switches off the frontend, via
some GPIO setting, this would make the DVB fail.
This condition was actually trigged with one device, during
DVB scan, as, during scan, it is common that userspace apps
to change the filter several times, in order to get all
tables.
Also, this is not needed at all, since the em28xx code already
hooks into ops.ts_bus_ctrl(). This warrants that em28xx can
check there if DVB frontend is in usage or not. The code there
already puts the device on suspend mode, if the DVB frontend
is not used (closed).

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 84c09d723c [media] cx231xx: Improve signal reception for PV SBTVD
Instead of using 3.3 MHz IF, use 4MHz. That's the standard
value for the demod, and, while it can be adjusted, 3.3 MHz
is out of the recommended range. So, let's stick with the
default.
With regards to the IF voltage level, instead of using
0.5 V(p-p) for IF, use 2V, giving a 12dB gain.
The rationale is that, on PixelView SBTVD Hybrid,
even 2V(p-p) would be in the nominal range for IF,
as the maximum range on this particular device is 3V.
A higher gain here should help to improve reception under
weak signals.

is: it was noticed that, on some devices, it fails to lock with a

As it is better to reset everything, even wasting a few more
miliseconds than to loose channel lock, let's change the logic

The start address of the dataset depends on the start address of the microcode

Having such a big chunk of memory reserved even if the device has no eeprom and

Change the code to allocate + free the eeprom memory dynamically.
This also makes it possible to handle different dataset sizes depending on what

16 bit instead of 8 bit address width.
The used eeprom type depends on the chip type, which makes sure eeproms can't
be damaged.
This patch adds basic support for 16 bit eeproms only, which includes
- reading the content
- calculating the eeprom hash
- displaying the content
The eeprom content uses a different format, for which support will be added with
subsequent patches.
Tested with the "Hauppauge HVR-930C" and the "Speedlink VAD Laplace webcam"
(with additional experimental patches).

The data is stored as little endian in the eeprom.
Hence the correct data types should be used and the data should be converted
to the machine endianess before using it.
The eeprom id (key) also isn't a 32 bit value but 4 separate bytes instead.

The current code uses only a single debug level and all debug messages are
printed for i2c_debug >= 2 only. So debug level 1 is actually the same as

Users expect debugging messages to become enabled for anything else than
debug level 0.
Fix it and simplify the code a bit by printing the debug messages also at debug

Linus Torvalds 3298a3511f arm-soc: multiplatform support
Converting more ARM platforms to multiplatform support. This time, OMAP
gets converted, which is a major step since this is by far the largest
platform in terms of code size. The same thing happens to the vt8500
 platform.

 Conflicts include:
 * Two mach/uncompress.h files are removed, the changes made to them
   elsewhere can be discarded now.
 * Moving the OMAP4 irq_match array has context clashes with turning
   omap4_sar_ram_init into an omap_early_initcall()

Mauro Carvalho Chehab ac89758697 Revert "[media] dvb_frontend: return -ENOTTY for unimplement IOCTL"
As reported by Klaus Schmidinger:
"In VDR I use an ioctl() call with FE_READ_UNCORRECTED_BLOCKS on a
device (using stb0899). After this call I check 'errno' for
EOPNOTSUPP to determine whether this device supports this call. This
used to work just fine, until a few months ago I noticed that my
devices using stb0899 didn't display their signal quality in VDR's OSD
any more. After further investigation I found that
ioctl(FE_READ_UNCORRECTED_BLOCKS) no longer returns EOPNOTSUPP, but
rather ENOTTY. And since I stop getting the signal quality in case
any unknown errno value appears, this broke my signal quality query
  function."

While the changes reflect what is there at:

  http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel/1235728

it does cause regression on userspace. So, revert it to stop the
damage.

This reverts commit 177ffe506c ("[media] dvb_frontend: return -ENOTTY
for unimplement IOCTL").

Merge branch 'omap/multiplatform-fixes', tag 'v3.8-rc5' into next/multiplatform

The omap multiplatform support uncovered a bug in the cwdavinci_cpdma
code and was missing two drivers that are enabled now but are not
quite ready for multiplatform, as found by allyesconfig builds.

There is also a conflict generated by automated merge in
arch/arm/mach-omap2/drm.c between a bug fix that went into v3.8-rc5
and a different version of the same fix that went into the
omap/multiplatform branch. This merge removes the extraneous
#include that was causing build errors.

Arnd Bergmann c38cd8729c [media] davinci: do not include mach/hardware.h
It is now possible to build the davinci vpss code
on multiplatform kernels, which causes a problem
since the driver tries to incude the davinci
platform specific mach/hardware.h file. Fortunately
that file is not required at all in the driver,
so we can simply remove the #include statement.

Without this patch, building allyesconfig results in:

Christoph Nuscheler ed72d37a33 [media] media: Add 0x3009 USB PID to ttusb2 driver (fixed diff)
The "Technisat SkyStar USB plus" is a TT-connect S-2400 clone, which the
V4L-DVB drivers already support. However, some of these devices (like
mine) come with a different USB PID 0x3009 instead of 0x3006.

There have already been patches simply overwriting the USB PID in
dvb-usb-ids.h. Of course these patches were rejected because they would
have disabled the 0x3006 PID.

This new patch adds the 0x3009 PID to dvb-usb-ids.h, and adds references
to it within the ttusb2.c driver. PID 0x3006 devices will continue to work.

The only difference between the two hardware models seems to be the
EEPROM chip. In fact, Windows BDA driver names the 0x3009 device with a
"(8 kB EEPROM)" suffix. In spite of that, the 0x3009 device works
absolutely flawlessly using the existing ttusb2 driver.

Commits 5e6e81b289 (cx18) and

these functions are called *after* initialization by the main cx18/ivtv

Frank Schaefer 33f6984ece [media] em28xx: fix analog streaming with USB bulk transfers
With the conversion to videobuf2, some unnecessary calls of
em28xx_set_alternate() have been removed. It is now called at analog streaming
start only.
This has unveiled a bug that causes USB bulk transfers to fail with all urbs
having status -EVOERFLOW.
The reason is, that for bulk transfers usb_set_interface() needs to be called
even if the previous alt setting was the same (side note: bulk transfers seem
to work only with alt=0).
While it seems to be NOT necessary for isoc transfers, it's reasonable to just
call usb_set_interface() unconditionally in em28xx_set_alternate().
Also add a comment that explains the issue to prevent regressions in the future.

This patch is driven by a static checker warning.
The ttusb_process_muxpack() function is only called from

problem is that len == 2 is not valid and would lead to an array

Odd number values for len are also invalid and would lead to reading

Peter Senna Tschudin 7b34be71db [media] use IS_ENABLED() macro
This patch introduces the use of IS_ENABLED() macro. For example,
replacing:
 #if defined(CONFIG_I2C) || (defined(CONFIG_I2C_MODULE) && defined(MODULE))

Sylwester Nawrocki 56bc911ac3 [media] s5p-fimc: Redefine platform data structure for fimc-is
Newer Exynos4 SoC are equipped with a local camera ISP that
controls external raw image sensor directly. Such sensors
can be connected through FIMC-LITEn (and MIPI-CSISn) IPs to
the ISP, which then feeds image data to the FIMCn IP. Thus
there can be two busses associated with an image source
(sensor). Rename struct s5p_fimc_isp_info describing external
image sensor (video decoder) to struct fimc_source_info to
avoid confusion. bus_type is split into fimc_bus_type and
sensor_bus_type. The bus type enumeration is extended to
include both FIMC Writeback input types.
The bus_type enumeration and the data structure name in the
board files are modified according to the above changes.

Sylwester Nawrocki 03878bb473 [media] s5p-fimc: fimc-lite: Prevent deadlock at STREAMON/OFF ioctls
This patch fixes regression introduced in commit 6319d6a002beb26631
'[media] fimc-lite: Add ISP FIFO output support'.
In case of a configuration where video is captured at the video node
exposed by the FIMC-LITE driver there is a following video pipeline:
sensor -> MIPI-CSIS.n -> FIMC-LITE.n subdev -> FIMC-LITE.n video node
In this situation s_stream() handler of the FIMC-LITE.n is called
back from within VIDIOC_STREAMON/OFF ioctl of the FIMC-LITE.n video
node, through vb2_stream_on/off(), start/stop_streaming and
fimc_pipeline_call(set_stream). The fimc->lock mutex is already held
then, before invoking vidioc_streamon/off. So it must not be taken
again in the s_stream() callback in this case, to avoid a deadlock.
This patch makes fimc->out_path atomic_t so the mutex don't need
to be taken in the FIMC-LITE subdev s_stream() callback in the DMA
output case.

Hans Verkuil ba1066d2e9 [media] tuner-core: map audmode to STEREO for radio devices
Fixes a v4l2-compliance error: setting audmode to a value other than mono
or stereo for a radio device should map to MODE_STEREO.
The spec specifies that for radio devices only mono and stereo audmodes are
valid. If the user specifies another audmode in v4l2_tuner, then that should
be mapped to valid audmode. That didn't happen here.
Note that tuner drivers might decide to limit the possible audmode even
further if it only supports mono. In that case the tuner driver can set
audmode to mono. However, that new value wasn't copied back to t->audmode,
and that has been fixed as well in this patch.

This patch fixes a bug which causes all histogram regions to start in the

Laurent Pinchart 3fdfedaaa7 [media] omap3isp: preview: Lower the crop margins
The preview engine includes filters that consume columns and lines as
part of their operation, thus resulting in a cropped image. To allow
turning those filters on/off during streaming without affecting the
output image size, the driver adds additional cropping to make the total
number of cropped columns and lines constant regardless of which filters
are enabled.
This process needlessly includes the CFA filter, as whether the filter
is enabled only depends on the sink pad format, which can't change
during streaming.
Exclude the CFA filter from the preview engine margins.

IMO, there is a minor fault in the error handling path of
uvc_status_start() inside uvc_v4l2_open(), and the 'users' count should

Hans Verkuil ce4a3d5288 [media] radio: set vfl_dir correctly to fix modulator regression
The vfl_dir field should be set to indicate whether a device can receive
data, output data or can do both. This is used to let the v4l core know
which ioctls should be accepted and which can be refused.
Unfortunately, when this field was added the radio modulator drivers were
not updated: radio modulators transmit and so vfl_dir should be set to
VFL_DIR_TX (or VFL_DIR_M2M in the special case of wl128x).
Because of this omission it is not possible to call g/s_modulator for these
drivers, which effectively renders them useless.
This patch sets the correct vfl_dir value for these drivers, correcting
this bug.
Thanks to Paul Grinberg for bringing this to my attention.

 - Device tree updates for at91 dealing mostly with their new

Sometimes there is a problem when trying to access the non-existing registers

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 09b6d21e10 [media] mb86a20s: calculate statistics at .read_status()
Instead of providing separate callbacks to read the several FE
stats properties, the better seems to use just one method that will:
    - Read lock status;
    - Read signal strength;
    - if locked, get TMCC data;
    - if locked, get DVB statistics.
As the DVB frontend thread will call this read_status callback
on every 3 seconds, and userspace can even call it earlier,
all stats data and layers layout will be updated together if
available, with is a good thing.

Joe Millenbach 4f73bc4dd3 tty: Added a CONFIG_TTY option to allow removal of TTY
The option allows you to remove TTY and compile without errors. This
saves space on systems that won't support TTY interfaces anyway.
bloat-o-meter output is below.

The bulk of this patch consists of Kconfig changes adding "depends on
TTY" to various serial devices and similar drivers that require the TTY
layer. Ideally, these dependencies would occur on a common intermediate
symbol such as SERIO, but most drivers "select SERIO" rather than
"depends on SERIO", and "select" does not respect dependencies.

bloat-o-meter output comparing our previous minimal to new minimal by
removing TTY. The list is filtered to not show removed entries with awk
'$3 != "-"' as the list was very long.
