The definitons in the dt-binding's gpio header only contains some
constants to be used in device trees. It is not relevant for rtc-omap
(as the gpio API hides the details) and in fact unused so it can just be
dropped.

The RTC IRQ is requested before the struct rtc_device is allocated,
this may lead to a NULL pointer dereference in the IRQ handler.
To fix this issue, allocating the rtc_device struct before requesting
the RTC IRQ using devm_rtc_allocate_device, and use rtc_register_device
to register the RTC device.
Also remove the unnecessary error message as the core already prints the
info.

Some boards, like OrangePi PC2 (H5), OrangePi Plus 2E (H3) and Tanix TX6
(H6) don't have external 32kHz oscillator. Till H6, it didn't really
matter if external oscillator was enabled because HW detected error and
fall back to internal one. H6 has same functionality but it's the first
SoC which have "auto switch bypass" bit documented and always enabled in
driver. This prevents RTC to work correctly if external crystal is not
present on board. There are other side effects - all peripherals which
depends on this clock also don't work (HDMI CEC for example).
Make clocks property optional. If it is present, select external
oscillator. If not, stay on internal.

The PL031 and ST v1 RTC are 32bit seconds counters. STv2 is a BCD RTC
apparently going from 0000 to 9999, hopefully handling the leap days
properly until then.

The datasheet states that 4052 is the maximum value for year. However, the
mpc5121 read_time and set_time function abuse the target time register
instead of using the broken down time so it is limited to 2106.

Note that this failed on Nov 10 2014 so it is very likely this driver as

Let the core handle offsetting and windowing the RTC range.
This rtc has hours, minutes, seconds and 16bit days. As the driver has the
RTC epoch set to year 2000, this means that the end of the range is 2^16
days minus one second later. This is Sun Jun 6 23:59:59 UTC 2179. This
is better than the currently set year 2099.

The code handling invalid alarms meaning the alarm is in the next 24 hours
is not necessary since commit f8245c2688 ("rtc: remove "RTC_ALM_SET mode"
bugs") which actually predates this driver. Since then, .set_alarm is never
called with an invalid alarm and this handling is not necessary in the
driver.

This RTC is a 32bit counter running at 16Hz. This overflows every eight
years and a half. However, the driver uses the SW_VALUE register to store
the overflow, extending the counter to 64bit as long as the update happens
before the overflow.

Fix multiple occurring interrupts for alarm interrupt. RTC module doesn't
clear the alarm interrupt status bit immediately after the interrupt is
triggered.This is due to the sticky nature of the alarm interrupt status
register. The alarm interrupt status register can be cleared only after
the second counter outruns the set alarm value. To fix multiple spurious
interrupts, disable alarm interrupt in the handler and clear the status
bit before enabling the alarm interrupt.

Merely enabling I2C and RTC selects REGMAP_I2C and REGMAP_SPI, even when
no driver needs it. While the former can be moduler, the latter cannot,
and thus becomes built-in.
Fix this by moving the select statements for REGMAP_I2C and REGMAP_SPI
from the RTC_I2C_AND_SPI helper to the individual drivers that depend on
it.
Note that the comment for RTC_I2C_AND_SPI refers to SND_SOC_I2C_AND_SPI
for more information, but the latter does not select REGMAP_{I2C,SPI}
itself, and defers that to the individual drivers, too.

The rtc-cmos interrupt setting was changed in the commit 079062b28f
("rtc: cmos: prevent kernel warning on IRQ flags mismatch") in order
to allow shared interrupts; according to that commit's description,
some machine got kernel warnings due to the interrupt line being shared
between rtc-cmos and other hardware, and rtc-cmos didn't allow IRQ sharing
that time.
After the aforementioned commit though it was observed a huge increase
in lost HPET interrupts in some systems, observed through the following
kernel message:
[...] hpet1: lost 35 rtc interrupts
After investigation, it was narrowed down to the shared interrupts
usage when having the kernel option "irqpoll" enabled. In this case,
all IRQ handlers are called for non-timer interrupts, if such handlers
are setup in shared IRQ lines. The rtc-cmos IRQ handler could be set to
hpet_rtc_interrupt(), which will produce the kernel "lost interrupts"
message after doing work - lots of readl/writel to HPET registers, which
are known to be slow.
Although "irqpoll" is not a default kernel option, it's used in some contexts,
one being the kdump kernel (which is an already "impaired" kernel usually
running with 1 CPU available), so the performance burden could be considerable.
Also, the same issue would happen (in a shorter extent though) when using
"irqfixup" kernel option.
In a quick experiment, a virtual machine with uptime of 2 minutes produced
>300 calls to hpet_rtc_interrupt() when "irqpoll" was set, whereas without
sharing interrupts this number reduced to 1 interrupt. Machines with more
hardware than a VM should generate even more unnecessary HPET interrupts
in this scenario.

After looking into the rtc-cmos driver history and DSDT table from
the Microsoft Surface 3, we may notice that Hans de Goede submitted
a correct fix (see dependency below). Thus, we simply revert
the culprit commit.

Our chosen byte swapping, which is what firmware already uses, is to
do readl/writel by normal lw/sw intructions (data invariance). This
also means we need to mangle addresses for u8 and u16 accesses. The
mangling for 16bit has been done aready, but 8bit one was missing.
Correcting this causes different addresses for accesses to the
SuperIO and local bus of the IOC3 chip. This is fixed by changing
byte order in ioc3 and m48rtc_rtc structs.

'include/linux/platform_data/cros_ec_proto.h' who contains the definition of

The RTC has a valid bit in the seconds register that indicates whether
power was lost since the pevious time set. This bit is currently read
once at probe time, cached and updated with set_time.
Howeever, caching the bit may prevent detecting power loss at runtime
(which can happen if the RTC's supply is distinct from the the platform's).
Writing the seconds register when setting time will clear the bit,
so there should be no downside in reading the bit directly instead of
caching it.

The current code returns -EPERM when the voltage loss bit is set.
Since the bit indicates that the time value is not valid, return

The RV3029 can report three different conditions: power on, voltage dropped
and data is lost and voltage is low and temperature compensation has
stopped. The first two conditions amount to the same status, the RTC data
is invalid.
VLOW1 has to be cleared manually to resume temperature compensation, this
is achieved using RTC_VL_CLEAR.

voltage_low is only updated when reading the time, this means that using

The current use of mode flags to us SPI_MODE_3 and
SPI_CS_HIGH is fragile: it overwrites anything already
assigned by the SPI core. Change it thusly:
- Just |= the SPI_MODE_3 so we keep other flags
- Assign ^= SPI_CS_HIGH since we might be active high
already, and that is usually the case with GPIOs used
for chip select, even if they are in practice active low.
Add a comment clarifying why ^= SPI_CS_HIGH is the right
choice here.

When support for the R40 in the rtc-sun6i driver was split out for a
separate compatible string, only the RTC half was covered, and not the
clock half. Unfortunately this results in the whole driver not working,
as the RTC half expects the clock half to have been initialized.
Add support for the clock part as well. The clock part is like the H3,
but does not need to export the internal oscillator, nor does it have
a gateable LOSC external output.
This fixes issues with WiFi and Bluetooth not working on the BPI M2U.

The msm6242_set()/msm6242_clear() functions are used when writing to Control
Register D to set or clear the HOLD bit when reading the current time from
the RTC.
Doing this with a read-modify-write cycle will potentially clear an
interrupt condition which occurs between the read and the write.
The datasheet states the following about this:
When writing the HOLD or 30 second adjust bits of register D, it is
necessary to write the IRQ FLAG bit to a "1".
Since the only other bits in the register are the 30 second adjust bit
(which is not used) and the BUSY bit (which is read-only), the
read-modify-write cycle can be replaced by a simple write with the IRQ FLAG
bit set to 1 and the other bits (except HOLD) set to 0.

The driver was reading the wrong register as the 10-hour digit due to
a misplaced ')'. It was in fact reading the 1-second digit register due
to this bug.
Also remove the use of a magic number for the hour mask and use the define
for it which was already present.

The Flextimer alarm is primarily used as a wakeup source for system
power management. But it shouldn't select the power management driver
as they don't really have dependency of each other.
Also remove the default y as it is not a critical feature for the

When using following operations:

to change date from 2019 to 2119 for test, it will fail on Hygon
Dhyana and AMD Zen CPUs, while the same operations run ok on Intel i7
platform.
MC146818 driver use function mc146818_set_time() to set register
RTC_FREQ_SELECT(RTC_REG_A)'s bit4-bit6 field which means divider stage
reset value on Intel platform to 0x7.
While AMD/Hygon RTC_REG_A(0Ah)'s bit4 is defined as DV0 [Reference]:
DV0 = 0 selects Bank 0, DV0 = 1 selects Bank 1. Bit5-bit6 is defined
as reserved.
DV0 is set to 1, it will select Bank 1, which will disable AltCentury
register(0x32) access. As UEFI pass acpi_gbl_FADT.century 0x32
(AltCentury), the CMOS write will be failed on code:
CMOS_WRITE(century, acpi_gbl_FADT.century).
Correct RTC_REG_A bank select bit(DV0) to 0 on AMD/Hygon CPUs, it will
enable AltCentury(0x32) register writing and finally setup century as
expected.
Test results on Intel i7, AMD EPYC(17h) and Hygon machine show that it
works as expected.
Compiling for sparc64 and alpha architectures are passed.

The bd70528 RTC driver is probed by MFD driver. Add MODULE_ALIAS
in order to allow udev to load the module when MFD sub-device cell
for RTC is added.
I'm not sure if this is a bugfix or feature addition but I guess
fixes tag won't harm in this case.

dpm_sysfs_remove() and device_pm_remove() are already called by
device_del() on device removal so there is no need to call
device_init_wakeup(dev, false) from the driver and it allows to remove the
.remove callback.

When setting the time in the future with the uie timer enabled,
rtc_timer_do_work will loop for a while because the expiration of the uie
timer was way before the current RTC time and a new timer will be enqueued
until the current rtc time is reached.
If the uie timer is enabled, disable it before setting the time and enable
it after expiring current timers (which may actually be an alarm).
This is the safest thing to do to ensure the uie timer is still
synchronized with the RTC, especially in the UIE emulation case.

All watchdog drivers implement the same set of ioctl commands, and
fortunately all of them are compatible between 32-bit and 64-bit
architectures.
Modern drivers always go through drivers/watchdog/wdt.c as an abstraction
layer, but older ones implement their own file_operations on a character
device for this.
Move the handling from fs/compat_ioctl.c into the individual drivers.
Note that most of the legacy drivers will never be used on 64-bit
hardware, because they are for an old 32-bit SoC implementation, but
doing them all at once is safer than trying to guess which ones do
or do not need the compat_ioctl handling.

We no longer need the rtc compat handling to be in common code, now that
all drivers are either moved to the rtc-class framework, or (rarely)
exist in drivers/char for architectures without compat mode (m68k,
alpha and ia64, respectively).
I checked the list of ioctl commands in drivers, and the ones that are
not already handled are all compatible, again with the one exception of
m68k driver, which implements RTC_PLL_GET and RTC_PLL_SET, but has no
compat mode.
Unlike earlier versions of this patch, I'm now adding a separate
compat_ioctl handler that takes care of RTC_IRQP_READ32/RTC_IRQP_SET32
and treats all other commands as compatible, leaving the native
behavior unchanged.
The old conversion handler also deals with RTC_EPOCH_READ and
RTC_EPOCH_SET, which are not handled in rtc-dev.c but only in a single
device driver (rtc-vr41xx), so I'm adding the compat version in the same
place. I don't expect other drivers to need those commands in the future.

Rework the interrupt handling to avoid caching the values as the core is
already doing that. The core also always ensures the rtc_time passed for
the alarm is fully populated.
The only trick is in read_alarm where status needs to be read before the
alarm registers to ensure the potential irq is not cleared.

SGI Octane (IP30) doesn't have RTC register directly mapped into CPU
address space, but accesses RTC registers with an address and data
register. This is now supported by additional access functions, which
are selected by a new field in platform data. Removed plat_read/plat_write
since there is no user and their usage could introduce lifetime issue,
when functions are placed in different modules.

If the RTC HW returns an invalid time, the rtc_year_days()
call would crash. This patch adds error logging in this
situation, and removes the tm_yday and tm_wday calculations.
These fields should not be relied upon by userspace
according to man rtc, and thus we don't need to calculate
them.

The comment in the probe function stating that it disables oscillator stop
detection and glitch filtering is incorrect as it sets bits 3 and 4 while
it should be setting 5 and 6 to achieve that. Then, it is safe to assume
that the oscillator failure detection is actually enabled.
Properly handle oscillator failures by returning -EINVAL when the time and
date are know to be incorrect and reset the flag when the time is set.

For rtc drivers where rtc->range_max is set U64_MAX, like the PS3 rtc,
rtc_valid_range() always returns -ERANGE. This is because the local
variable range_max has type time64_t, so the test
if (time < range_min || time > range_max)
return -ERANGE;
becomes (time < range_min || time > -1), which always evaluates to true.
timeu64_t should be used, since it's the type of rtc->range_max.

The meson_vrtc_set_wakeup_time() function is only used by
the PM functions and causes a warning when they are disabled:

The SPRD_RTC_POWEROFF_ALM_FLAG flag is used to indicate if a poweroff alarm
is set, which can power on the system when system in power-off status.
And the bootloader will validate this flag to check if the booting mode is
alarm booting mode, thus we should not clear this flag in kernel, instead
bootloader will clear this flag after checking the booting mode.

There is a bit of mess between cros-ec mfd includes and platform
includes. For example, we have a linux/mfd/cros_ec.h include that
exports the interface implemented in platform/chrome/cros_ec_proto.c. Or
we have a linux/mfd/cros_ec_commands.h file that is non related to the
multifunction device (in the sense that is not exporting any function of
the mfd device). This causes crossed includes between mfd and
platform/chrome subsystems and makes the code difficult to read, apart
from creating 'curious' situations where a platform/chrome driver includes
a linux/mfd/cros_ec.h file just to get the exported functions that are
implemented in another platform/chrome driver.
In order to have a better separation on what the cros-ec multifunction
driver does and what the cros-ec core provides move and rework the
affected includes doing:
- Move cros_ec_commands.h to include/linux/platform_data/cros_ec_commands.h
- Get rid of the parts that are implemented in the platform/chrome/cros_ec_proto.c
driver from include/linux/mfd/cros_ec.h to a new file
include/linux/platform_data/cros_ec_proto.h
- Update all the drivers with the new includes, so
- Drivers that only need to know about the protocol include
- linux/platform_data/cros_ec_proto.h
- linux/platform_data/cros_ec_commands.h
- Drivers that need to know about the cros-ec mfd device also include
- linux/mfd/cros_ec.h

This patch allows userspace to set up wakeup alarms on any RTC handled by the
sun6i driver, and adds the necessary PM operations to allow resuming from
suspend when the configured wakeup alarm fires a IRQ. Of course, that the
device actually resumes depends on the suspend state and how a particular
hardware reacts to it, but that is out of scope for this patch.
I've tested these changes on a Pine H64 model B, which contains a
Allwinner H6 SoC, with the help of CONFIG_PM_TEST_SUSPEND kernel option.
These are the interesting outputs from the kernel and commands which
show that it works. As every RTC handled by this driver is largely the
same, I think that it shouldn't introduce any regression on other SoCs,
but I may be wrong.

Why:
- Relative commit: 8b9f9d4dc5 ("regmap: verify if register is
writeable before writing operations"), this patch
will always check for unwritable registers, it will compare reg
with max_register in regmap_writeable.
- The pcf85363/pcf85263 has the capability of address wrapping
which means if you access an address outside the allowed range
(0x00-0x2f) hardware actually wraps the access to a lower address.
The rtc-pcf85363 driver will use this feature to configure the time
and execute 2 actions in the same i2c write operation (stopping the
clock and configure the time). However the driver has also
configured the `regmap maxregister` protection mechanism that will
block accessing addresses outside valid range (0x00-0x2f).
How:
- Split of writing regs to two parts, first part writes control
registers about stop_enable and resets, second part writes
RTC time and date registers.

The RTC IRQ is requested before the struct rtc_device is allocated,
this may lead to a NULL pointer dereference in IRQ handler.
To fix this issue, allocating the rtc_device struct before requesting
the RTC IRQ using devm_rtc_allocate_device, and use rtc_register_device
to register the RTC device.

Disable watchdog registation when kernel is build without
watchdog functionality, and enable watchdog core otherwise.
This removes compile errors like the one below:

Add support for integrated tamper detection function in both PCF2127 and
PCF2129 chips. This patch implements the feature by adding an additional
timestamp0 file to sysfs device path. This file contains seconds since
epoch, if an event occurred, or is empty, if none occurred.
Interface should match ISL1208 and RV3028 RTC drivers.

Add partial support for the watchdog functionality of
both PCF2127 and PCF2129 chips.
The programmable watchdog timer is currently using a fixed
clock source of 1Hz. This result in a selectable range of
1-255 seconds, which covers most embedded Linux use-cases.
Clock sources of 4096Hz, 64Hz and 1/60Hz is mostly useful
in MCU use-cases.
Countdown timer not available when using watchdog feature.

The previous fix listed bulk read of registers as root cause of
accendential disabling of watchdog, since the watchdog counter
register (WD_VAL) was zeroed.
Fixes: 3769a375ab rtc: pcf2127: bulk read only date and time registers.
Tested with the same PCF2127 chip as Sean reveled root cause
of WD_VAL register value zeroing was caused by reading CTRL2
register which is one of the watchdog feature control registers.
So the solution is to not read the first two control registers
(CTRL1 and CTRL2) in pcf2127_rtc_read_time as they are not
needed anyway. Size of local buf variable is kept to allow
easy usage of register defines to improve readability of code.
Debug trace line was updated after CTRL1 and CTRL2 are no longer
read from the chip. Also replaced magic numbers in buf access
with register defines.

Cleanup of defines to follow kernel coding style and increase code
readability by using same register and bit define style.
Change PCF2127_REG_RAM_{addr_MSB,wrt_cmd,rd_cmd} to upper case as
kernel coding guide section 12 'Macros, Enums and RTL' states
"Names of macros defining constants and labels in enums are capitalized".
Improve readability of RAM register comment by making whole sentences.
Remove parentheses from register defines as they are only used
for expressions and not constants.
As there are no clear style for name of registers and bits in the
kernel drivers, I suggest the following for at least this driver,
but hopefully also other RTC drivers.
Register name should follow this convention:
[chip]_REG_[reg name] 0xXX
Bit name should follow this convention, so it clearly states which
chip register it's part of:
[chip]_BIT_[reg name]_[bit name] BIT(X)
Additionally I suggest bit defines are always placed right below
its corresponding register define and using an extra tab indentation
for the BIT(X) part. This will visually make it easy to see that bit
defines are part of the complete register definition.
Rename PCF2127_OSF to PCF2127_BIT_SC_OSF and move it right below
PCF2127_REG_SC. This will improve readability of bit checks as it's
easy to verify that it uses the correct register.
Move end of line comments above register defines as it's more like
a heading for 1 register define and up to 8 bit defines or a
collection of registers that are close related like timestamp
split across 6 registers.

RTC on H6 is mostly the same as on H5 and H3. It has slight differences
mostly in features that are not yet supported by this driver.
Some differences are already stated in the comments in existing code.
One other difference is that H6 has extra bit in LOSC_CTRL_REG, called
EXT_LOSC_EN to enable/disable external low speed crystal oscillator.
It also has bit EXT_LOSC_STA in LOSC_AUTO_SWT_STA_REG, to check whether
external low speed oscillator is working correctly.
This patch adds support for enabling LOSC when necessary:
- during reparenting
- when probing the clock
H6 also has capacbility to automatically reparent RTC clock from
external crystal oscillator, to internal RC oscillator, if external
oscillator fails. This is enabled by default. Disable it during
probe.

The Amlogic Meson GX SoCs uses a special register to store the
time in seconds to wakeup after a system suspend.
In order to be able to reuse the RTC wakealarm feature, this
driver implements a fake RTC device which uses the system time
to deduce a suspend delay.

My error handling "cleanup" was totally wrong. Both the "err" and "ret"
variables are required. The "err" variable holds the error codes for
rv3029_eeprom_enter/exit() and the "ret" variable holds the error codes
for if actual write fails. In my patch if the write failed, the
function probably still returned success.

kfree_exit only returns ret, remove it. This also fixes the
devm_regmap_init_spi error case where the probe wouldn't actually fail
because ret is initialized to 0.

A future patch is going to change semantics of clk_register() so that

We don't need dev_err() messages when platform_get_irq() fails now that
platform_get_irq() prints an error message itself when something goes
wrong. Let's remove these prints with a simple semantic patch.

As spin_unlock_irq will enable interrupts.
mxc_rtc_irq_enable is called from interrupt handler mxc_rtc_interrupt.
Interrupts are enabled in interrupt handler.
Use spin_lock_irqsave/spin_unlock_irqrestore instead of spin_(un)lock_irq
in IRQ context to avoid this.

Callers of hrtimer_forward_now() should save the return value in u64.
function rtc_pie_update_irq() stores it in variable 'count' of type int
change type of count from unsigned long to u64 to solve the issue.

Support RTC block in ROHM bd70528 power management IC. Support
getting and setting the time and date as well as arming an alarm
which can also be used to wake the PMIC from standby state.
HW supports wake interrupt only for the next 24 hours (sec, minute
and hour information only) so we limit also the alarm interrupt to
this 24 hours for the sake of consistency.

Besides the alarm, the PCF8563 also has a timer triggered interrupt.
In cases where the previous system left the timer and interrupts on,
or somehow the bits got enabled, the interrupt would keep triggering
as the kernel doesn't know about it.
Clear both the alarm and timer event flags, and disable the interrupts,
before requesting the interrupt line.

The PCF8563 datasheet says the interrupt line is active low and stays
active until the events are cleared, i.e. a level trigger interrupt.
Fix the flags used to request the interrupt.

Also remove pcf2123_delay_trec. This claimed to add a 30ns delay to SPI
writes, but I could not see any reference to this requirement in the
datasheet. Closest thing I could find to a requirement are timings for the
SPI chip enable line, which cannot be controlled by this driver (the ndelay
came after the call to spi_write_then_read, which means it would sleep
after CE has already gone inactive). Things seem to work fine without it.
