ARM: arm-soc fixes for 3.8-rc
People are back from the holiday breaks, and it shows. Here are a bunch of fixes for a number of platforms: - A couple of small fixes for Nomadik - A larger set of changes for kirkwood/mvebu - uart driver selection, dt clocks, gpio-poweroff fixups, a few __init annotation fixes and some error handling improvement in their xor dma driver. - i.MX had a couple of minor fixes (and a critical one for flexcan2 clock setup) - MXS has a small board fix and a framebuffer bugfix - A set of fixes for Samsung Exynos, fixing default bootargs and some Exynos5440 clock issues - A set of OMAP changes including PM fixes and a few sparse warning fixups All in all a bit more positive code delta than we'd ideally want to see here, mostly from the OMAP PM changes, but nothing overly crazy. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) iQIcBAABAgAGBQJQ7GYhAAoJEIwa5zzehBx31HMP/jqBBdEAKBoQrVPXgCISTkGp WzpPbFnt17R9uxVZFjsmlcTgBOURSkbDwENVnyJ4ZkVFOAQHOSCriyQFrsgeBAEj WU2FK3E6/V4BHob8hSqmbCjwRUyzOM6z4+oMZQgpBS2y0sgVWFySOE3Fe7cf1IJr 11D5/mzOqRYu8fkXar2ksK752N7O5m9sZoJ4A8cJs1DBL8/a0c6ASZGkaKql0WFn hel6nFznTe/qZwGqjIOaWrFhUe9pmqRlRtTDT5hlmMzC4+O12TEBaFIrJHlq8SkZ nxSdZcD9ERAgp58zMEMzDI0ZNkdXTV3xRtkehTvaJheCpeAGq0J63fEd/Yn4T/V3 fUeNrUqNLl59dZEvFS1Xm/2dpYLrUDCkNWQoTAjLAfEmJ1v9vjcP22seXD9tzXtl XdcjEIOnAb+d3J6D3vW1EvgPiTrS0EId5Mkv/LSIAyR0OAjqJr3L/keUUG2OVH1q UW7V052KEW0P0jDQnmhxNkkl8fnZCQtLRH9ukVs2qIbH28QBaH3irdFv+S74P2l2 MWBqh21dm//PBJQqg1ujf0nl7IuCqDVaUYt6VYholGaRoyMaCSVsazJwC0/kzTNz EYVI8kAUIWQnAxXL5uN3oiqoSASKOfwtHGOJB7CB2FgdEVNWhdUpLk0xDi5ssF8o Iatq6W91y3xCkLhIP+77 =s9fE -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'fixes' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc Pull ARM SoC fixes from Olof Johansson: "People are back from the holiday breaks, and it shows. ARM: drivers: remove __dev* attributes.
CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As a result, the __dev* markings need to be removed. This change removes the use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata, and __devexit from these drivers. Based on patches originally written by Bill Pemberton, but redone by me in order to handle some of the coding style issues better, by hand. ARM: arm-soc: power management and clock changes

ARM: arm-soc: device tree conversions and enablement
Continued device tree conversion and enablement across a number of platforms; Kirkwood, tegra, i.MX, Exynos, zynq and a couple of other smaller series as well. ux500 has seen continued conversion for platforms. Several platforms have seen pinctrl-via-devicetree conversions for simpler multiplatform. Tegra is adding data for new devices/drivers, and Exynos has a bunch of new bindings and devices added as well. ARM: arm-soc: SoC updates for 3.8
This contains the bulk of new SoC development for this merge window. Two new platforms have been added, the sunxi platforms (Allwinner A1x SoCs) by Maxime Ripard, and a generic Broadcom platform for a new series of ARMv7 platforms from them, where the hope is that we can keep the platform code generic enough to have them all share one mach directory. ASoC: Samsung: Do not register samsung audio dma device as pdev
Previously, the ASoC 'platform' (PCM/DMA) object was instantiated via a platform_device. This didn't represent the hardware well, since there was no separate hardware associated with this platform_device; it was a virtual device with sole purpose to call snd_soc_register_platform(). This change removes the platform_device completely. Each Samsung DAI now registers the ASoC 'platform' itself. Machine drivers are adjusted for the new 'platform' name. ARM: EXYNOS: Make s3c_device_i2c0 always use id 0
This patch removes compatibility definitions added long time ago when clock ids were used instead of devnames that were needed for platforms with only one i2c controller with id -1 (some s3c24xx's). Because currently devname field is used for matching device instances to clocks and if no devname is provided (as in clock-s3c2412.c and common-s3c2443.c for i2c clock, both in arch/arm/mach-s3c24xx) the clock is being matched only by name, so s3c_device_i2c0 can always have id 0. ARM: SAMSUNG: Insert bitmap_gpio_int member in samsung_gpio_chip
When a device uses GPIO interrupt, its driver assumes that GPIO should be INPUT mode. However, GPIO of SAMSUNG SoC is sepated to INPUT mode and INTERRUPT mode. They are set by 0x0 and 0xF in GPIO control register. If the register is set to INPUT mode, the interrupt never occur. Therefore, it's necessary to set INTERRUPT mode instead of INPUT mode when the pin is used for GPIO interrupt. This patch inserts the bitmap_gpio_int member in struct samsung_ gpio_chip in order to represent use of GPIO interrupt for each pin and sets the related bit when s5p_register_gpio_interrupt function is called. ARM: config: sort select statements alphanumerically
As suggested by Andrew Morton: This is a pet peeve of mine. Any time there's a long list of items (header file inclusions, kconfig entries, array initalisers, etc) and someone wants to add a new item, they *always* go and stick it at the end of the list. Guys, don't do this. Either put the new item into a randomly-chosen position or, probably better, alphanumerically sort the list. lets sort all our select statements alphanumerically. This commit was created by the following perl: while (<>) { while (/\\\s*$/) { $_ .= <>; } undef %selects if /^\s*config\s+/; if (/^\s+select\s+(\w+).*/) { if (defined($selects{$1})) { if ($selects{$1} eq $_) { print STDERR "Warning: removing duplicated $1 entry\n"; } else { print STDERR "Error: $1 differently selected\n". "\tOld: $selects{$1}\n". "\tNew: $_\n"; exit 1; } } $selects{$1} = $_; next; } if (%selects and (/^\s*$/ or /^\s+help/ or /^\s+---help---/ or /^endif/ or /^endchoice/)) { foreach $k (sort (keys %selects)) { print "$selects{$k}"; } undef %selects; } print; } if (%selects) { foreach $k (sort (keys %selects)) { print "$selects{$k}"; } } It found two duplicates: Warning: removing duplicated S5P_SETUP_MIPIPHY entry Warning: removing duplicated HARDIRQS_SW_RESEND entry and they are identical duplicates, hence the shrinkage in the diffstat of two lines. Omapdss driver changes for the 3.7 merge window.
Notable changes: * Basic writeback support for DISPC level. Writeback is not yet usable, though, as we need higher level code to actually expose the writeback feature to userspace. * Rewriting the omapdss output drivers. We're trying to remove the hard links between the omapdss and the panels, and this rewrite work moves us closer to that goal. * Cleanup and restructuring patches that have been made while working on device tree support for omapdss. Device tree support is still some way ahead, but these patches are good cleanups in themselves. * Basic OMAP5 DSS support for DPI and DSI outputs. * Workaround for the problem that GFX overlay's fifo is too small for high resolution scenarios, causing underflows. * Cleanups that remove dependencies to omap platform code. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) iQIcBAABAgAGBQJQae8PAAoJEPo9qoy8lh71l6EP/1ot2bJ1+8zkTO/N73SiMn/3 +6yGfX411Z9GNsEiDqgGKMboDpU7+Fqi0nO5mgPbbE936Lu92TA6DF/S6rr79iaQ 2faxqRiWYXkVfXo806fo0BMeprB6ieQNBaEXtRmMK+tlviZtgFfCy5+9oq4AxP64 zWuFl/lPuSkhzjU2hHygETHpccsxtNI7EiJf7UoBLBCKi/eU/E5XJKUJUBwhX68R SA7SrpLfTNErAgdY4aMeLKprreN8VhJ7gp9+FCdnD7u4sawGpDIcF577EEc50Fjy aZbDkQkL8p7zw8g/ejBsY9zlsZZk7LFOSkXhfZCstnhTvF9ugm9S6Ax2rqu3tVfd M5B8n/I4njSFyQOxXyILfrGJdP/Fnpu6wlYKv+pNDQWspxo1saCu4Uju041A2lHy HaanqxCvpiHAIjqzfOvtLDfGxqZs37QEER0mDlg7CR2iErw5aAyjfy/CHpjTJ6Ib 2X0ho0y5+ndxkuVhFp3+fZaDQ7Y2HVc0EduzaY6OvzqouTWq4pBgeLIoXXYdHtsp wXfEPKghSZ6lA4wHYBRJppTLk3e56V6lVmC2/N+7PQkPm+Sfde1OAd8iqI0Ytm12 oL780L4XoWIbQml1ZZ6ZFwEO/2QnAqufzD7djMGkwm4BJb/04m4M2W2xWOEZ/R7T 0Xh/yWRDzQyrnzmyqg7K =lcyJ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'omapdss-for-3.7' of git://gitorious.org/linux-omap-dss2/linux into fbdev-next Omapdss driver changes for the 3.7 merge window. Sound updates for 3.7-rc1
This contains pretty many small commits covering fairly large range of files in sound/ directory. Partly because of additional API support and partly because of constantly developed ASoC and ARM stuff. Some highlights: - Introduced the helper function and documentation for exposing the channel map via control API, as discussed in Plumbers; most of PCI drivers are covered, will follow more drivers later - Most of drivers have been replaced with the new PM callbacks (if the bus is supported) - HD-audio controller got the support of runtime PM and the support of D3 clock-stop. Also changing the power_save option in sysfs kicks off immediately to enable / disable the power-save mode. - Another significant code change in HD-audio is the rewrite of firmware loading code. Other than that, most of changes in HD-audio are continued cleanups and standardization for the generic auto parser and bug fixes (HBR, device-specific fixups), in addition to the support of channel-map API. - Addition of ASoC bindings for the compressed API, used by the mid-x86 drivers. - Lots of cleanups and API refreshes for ASoC codec drivers and DaVinci. - Conversion of OMAP to dmaengine. - New machine driver for Wolfson Microelectronics Bells. - New CODEC driver for Wolfson Microelectronics WM0010. - Enhancements to the ux500 and wm2000 drivers - A new driver for DA9055 and the support for regulator bypass mode. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.19 (GNU/Linux) iQIcBAABAgAGBQJQcpeWAAoJEGwxgFQ9KSmkpi4P/2etDDz5aEkEHNa1l4xEmFcm ymiGTgjaalqpUAVbM/gYx9G59EFMEbzUl1BHAqE5La4wO/v9lNPb+VrdUo+B+NZ7 WSxIPWcNqdinSuoSqyYPjoPMVnhs3EMtNOqmf4jm1JOvdqA+4rO29xQVAqK/5Gfu LpMOyPiRi5ODnbQ1BOIWwpKICioY/mLwGJudK3z0i/fYVA7gLub20f+w+sOjKIA4 wmwQAMTjAR798Cg/tVy4fQmf4SLw+c2nIgGe/PD+2gVlGXLNKBrJfMonHPTbmwKu lmJO/EtnijNOnpbn6up7ryUQ9cSoZAUZOfdIOgmAeQgQ/LWR0f+zf2IQehSPwrul g6hqOnQI2DNN7ugT3cYVbYnsh56TjyhnxhhxZgkapqh706QkqHGyKJNMRetzuXmP 1O//MnZJrFQWd6sOKLlTL2ZzRvnxEJcNVGaE6bbwZTfQMtPeo9l1842uIq1dLUtG VxZb/svKUkMXv4is1dwUYUkpDsKxsgMEmabmuovceGf2N7jj/irkXgqxf6LWkaY1 JQ7ZFWUJyDzEMXRaFfzdGO15T532CfB84wvFX5xoPMwMste2AA7QuybFBVstXhKu AtKNDgRJFUTlnLIxydpPBWdWH3UJdEaFwwsSfuNKI8OmmGKhWC/aP83k4hzueu9H KYLvY/0ObMSMqiwh/ndQ =uNqD -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'sound-3.7' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tiwai/sound Pull sound updates from Takashi Iwai: "This contains pretty many small commits covering fairly large range of files in sound/ directory. ARM: soc: multiplatform enablement
This is a pretty significant branch. It's the introduction of the first multiplatform support on ARM, and with this (and the later branch) merged, it is now possible to build one kernel that contains support for highbank, vexpress, mvebu, socfpga, and picoxcell. More platforms will be convered over in the next few releases. Two critical last things had to be done for this to be practical and possible: * Today each platform has its own include directory under mach-<mach>/include/mach/*, and traditionally that is where a lot of driver/platform shared definitions have gone, such as platform data structures. They now need to move out to a common location instead, and this branch moves a large number of those out to include/linux/platform_data. * Each platform used to list the device trees to compile for its boards in mach-<mach>/Makefile.boot. Both of the above changes will mean that there are some merge conflicts to come (and some to resolve here). It's a one-time move and once it settles in, we should be good for quite a while. Sorry for the overhead. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) iQIcBAABAgAGBQJQaO7aAAoJEIwa5zzehBx3bUIP/02U8PhkHJJrrowyIsWRBOql 7LPJ53PRRgrpBdmEGzFD3TO3zaNyrjQRbYgNDvzHMO6NAMNvdRFouuWYjO11/tuB i32zssXCC+eUOEgbAo/U/lYq+UOvqw9gv6mU+3+i3OcGEhdKOaoT/DSLPQC4hoDm 222TeLfFB3HJXu5n720dEQ9V3fO6TS1+bbh8TU3cjHqzceXsOrffZqOA5CQxUcRr KWwOjA0nALDwWcqgv45GJNwY3GTyAQ/hPMQavnuWK0voJ+qUYk5HftKocAK7C+py 0T0OFOAHTwtyhvzJBxLC84M6Ox465BYXyeNjIB+2nG/Um9+mDoP0dnWpGy4c7DMU P5hyqbeLGeqjUXQuYtRmgMMc3UeHKoUGAfXW9eMsjLa6/M4NLGv//7E7LbZPpgMZ obkjwuesmcaYn/FRyj/yFmC35YlF4oCLziVzEtURZw3eKHHSUlhkTDSMNnkcZ0kZ Vv7kFxnD2Y46ixiwSJv30ErQnVkgI3MdqDlDxkE8r5+phYuK4gCrNaJtiwRh/oNw cFhpPxKuA0sJ9b6YRTzjC45eT/XZomEEr/uifCFeRNaCquyjYP00Mm8F0flSqwx9 zi+emzPAwNmk1bvxMUM/idGnaj0V4p+BAYUAvkbSoqU1p1flzyhU88fGTSIyKOt6 K5TCDS2v5hrVykK9TDwl =Tc6y -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'multiplatform' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc Pull ARM soc multiplatform enablement from Olof Johansson: "This is a pretty significant branch. ARM: soc: soc-specific updates
Most notable here is probably the addition of basic support for the BCM2835, an SoC used in some of the Roku 2 players as well as the much-hyped Raspberry Pi, cleaned up and contributed by Stephen Warren. It's still early days on mainline support, with just the basics working. But it has to start somewhere! Beyond that there's some conversions of clock infrastructure on tegra to common clock, misc updates for several other platforms, and OMAP now has its own bus (under drivers/bus) to manage its devices through. This branch adds two new directories outside of arch/arm: drivers/irqchip for new irq controllers, and drivers/bus for the above OMAP bus. It's expected that some of the other platforms will migrate parts of their platforms to those directories over time as well. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) iQIcBAABAgAGBQJQaO2SAAoJEIwa5zzehBx3TBIQAJYc+vpAqiv8MLQ1XV3cLiIP X57fxM9u1A+uXpXsiCTGR+ga8W4a5tlfGMXDBnl/K2bnFs2x11b9NkFLDJ7mdkih J4c/iOWT/mT5suLnnybyg6ZGaxGkAKou2AumiSmkazmq5hGG67hkpAOqFEfDK0J2 Au7/6VN6GZXgiwt8nYaAB/qR5NVcww4m/6GQ2looaWgRLT/wgC3W2ZKvw6zEdl2J OxOpwf2ujG/75zLQaxTeZ5rKnGtAXH4v0KhY9CWQacQPi4L2MVCrvUrDB4j0as4H Wmsu7g6fZA9Vlf1aW/mlDY1ftozfbDaKORoYVS+CsWhm1oiQI5t+sAWRTkbbS85t pobgKfFdvNsl9kS1zRdEddK2tyotwtXh2jz+P/s1l95hfqZ8IdVBJNMlcrHRINOI 2iQXFfGRhCCqMcfFiGXJ43tYja/aCsaIc4M5TrEma57czZT5jK8HSLh0ZUmFYDoe /TfUegVhFASmkNTk7dVZgZ2UoQVkv4lWs+xuf8YgX3UalWgl/YIRRFl4NnylGlEc jjrX3MjXATqXzLPEZaf8dRZHIpB6FYmZq1QqaoefcUQ46gBOueThElZP3sNWR8a2 MOtknauLfLwQbrcH5CmqKpIpXTB4LKgbf/omH2jQlxBhQ5t7PXHVD1NFsbZbwM8J RVCZb4PwqEwOt/wibTrk =BCp4 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'soc' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc Pull ARM soc-specific updates from Olof Johansson: "Most notable here is probably the addition of basic support for the BCM2835, an SoC used in some of the Roku 2 players as well as the much-hyped Raspberry Pi, cleaned up and contributed by Stephen Warren. ARM: soc: general cleanups
This is a large branch that contains a handful of different cleanups: - Fixing up the I/O space remapping on PCI on ARM. This is a series from Rob Herring that restructures how all pci devices allocate I/O space, and it's part of the work to allow multiplatform kernels. - A number of cleanup series for OMAP, moving and removing some headers, sparse irq rework and in general preparation for multiplatform. - Final removal of all non-DT boards for Tegra, it is now device-tree-only! - Removal of a stale platform, nxp4008. It's an old mobile chipset that is no longer in use, and was very likely never really used with a mainline kernel.
