Zidan Wang 3e3f8bd569 ASoC: fsl_sai: fix no frame clk in master mode
After several open/close sai test with ctrl+c, there will be
I/O error. The SAI can't work anymore, can't recover. There
will be no frame clock. With adding the software reset in
trigger stop, the issue can be fixed.

This is a hardware bug/errata and reset is the only option.

According to the reference manual, the software reset doesn't
reset any control register but only internal hardware logics
such as bit clock generator, status flags, and FIFO pointers.
(Our purpose is just to reset the clock generator while the
software reset is the only way to do that.)

Since slave mode doesn't use the clock generator, only apply
the reset procedure to the master mode.

For asynchronous mode, TX will not be reset when RX is still
running. In this case, i can't reproduce this issue.

Arnd Bergmann ab07eaedb7 ASoC: fsl: clarify ac97 dependency
A new randconfig build failure shows that the fsl-asoc-card module
must not be built-in when the AC97 driver is a loadable module:

sound/built-in.o: In function `fsl_asoc_card_late_probe':
:(.text+0x571d8): undefined reference to `snd_ac97_update_bits'

I couldn't come up with a nice solution, so this adds another dependency
on "X || !X", which is the Kconfig way of saying that we have an
optional dependency on something that might be a loadable module.

Zidan Wang 3f6f5b0cb3 ASoC: fsl-sai: add default register map for regmap cache
FSL_SAI_TDR register is writable and not readable. According to
regmap_volatile() function, if FSL_SAI_TDR want to be volatile,
it should be readable. So we should remove FSL_SAI_TDR from volatile
register list.

If the flat cache don't have default register map, when do regcache_sync
operation, the non volatile and writable registers will be synchronised
to 0. FSL_SAI_TDR reigster will be written a 0 and cause channel swap.
So add default register map for flat cache, and such register will not

Linus Torvalds 0280d1a099 sound updates for 4.4-rc1
Here is the first batch of updates for sound system on 4.4-rc1.
Again at this time, the update looks fairly calm; no big changes in
either ALSA core or ASoC infrastructures, rather all small cleanups,
in addition to the new stuff as usual.

The biggest changes are about Firewire sound devices. It gained lots
of new device support, and MIDI functionality. Also there are updates
for a few still working-in-progress stuff (topology API and ASoC
skylake), too. But overall, this update should give no big surprise.

 Some highlight is below:

 Core:
  - A few more Kconfig items for tinification; it's marked as EXPERT,
so normal user should't be bothered :)
  - Refactoring with a new PCM hw_constraint helper
  - Removal of unused transfer_ack_{begin,end} PCM callbacks

 Firewire:
  - Restructuring of code subtree, lots of refactoring
  - Support AMDTP variants
  - New driver for Digidesign 002/003 family
  - Adds support for TASCAM FireOne to ALSA OXFW driver
  - Add MIDI support to TASCAM and Digi00x devices

 HD-Audio:
  - Automated modalias generation for codec drivers, finally
  - Improvement on heuristics for setting mixer name
  - A few fixes for longstanding bugs on Creative CA0132 cards
  - Addition of audio rate callback with i915 communication
  - Fix suspend issue on recent Dell XPS
  - Intel Lewisburg controller support

 ASoC:
  - Updates to the topology userspace interface
  - Big updates to the Renesas support (rcar)
  - More updates for supporting Intel Sky Lake systems
  - New drivers for Asahi Kasei Microdevices AK4613, Allwinnner A10,
Cirrus Logic WM8998, Dialog DA7219, Nuvoton NAU8825, Rockchip
S/PDIF, and Atmel class D amplifier

 USB-Audio:
  - A fix for newer Roland MIDI devices
  - Quirks and workarounds for Zoom R16/24 device

 Misc:
  - A few fixes for some old Cirrus CS46xx PCI sound boards
  - Yet another fixes for some old ESS Maestro3 PCI sound boards

Stefan Agner 3cc7780b6f ASoC: fsl_sai: fix Rx synchrounous mode
When using the Rx clock for both, transmitter and receiver, the
transmitter needs to be set to synchronous with receiver.

This reverts 855675f6e6 ("ASoC: fsl_sai: Set SYNC bit of TCR2 to
Asynchronous Mode"), which, judiging from the commit log, seems to
mixed up between the two synchronous modes: The boolean
sai->synchronous[TX] is indicating wheather the SAI should work in
Rx synchronous mode (sync Tx with Rx), hence if the value is true,
the SYNC field of TCR2 needs to be set to 0x1 ("Synchronous with
receiver").

Lars-Peter Clausen 444c37aeee ASoC: fsl_sai: Constify rate constraints
The rate constraints in this driver are shared between all device
instances. It should not be (and is not) modified at runtime, so make them
const.

While we are at it also change the type of the rates array from u32 to
unsigned int. While both resolve to the same type, u32 is usually used to
empathize that the value is for a 32-bit hardware register or similar which
makes it slightly confusing in this context.

Maciej S. Szmigiero 50760cad9d ASoC: fsl-asoc-card: add AC'97 support
Add AC'97 support to fsl-asoc-card using generic
ASoC AC'97 CODEC.

The SSI controller will silently enable any TX
AC'97 slots that have their bits set in SLOTREQ
received from CODEC and then will redirect some
of playback samples there.

That's why it is important to make sure that
any of CODEC playback slots that can pull samples
are set to slots 3/4 (standard PCM playback slots).
Currently, this applies to S/PDIF slots as they
were seen to pull samples sometimes even with
S/PDIF output being disabled.

Linus Torvalds abebcdfb64 sound updates for 4.3-rc1
There are little changes in core part, but lots of development are
found in drivers, especially ASoC. The diffstat shows regmap-
related changes for a slight API additions / changes, and that's all.

Looking at the code size statistics, the most significant addition
is for Intel Skylake. (Note that SKL support is still underway, the
codec driver is missing.) Also STI controller driver is a major
addition as well as a few new codec drivers.

In HD-audio side, there are fewer changes than the past. The
noticeable change is the support of ELD notification from i915
graphics driver. Thus this pull request carries a few changes in
 drm/i915.

Other than that, USB-audio got a rewrite of runtime PM code. It
was initiated by lockdep warning, but resulted in a good cleanup in
 the end.

 Below are the highlights:

 Common:
 - Factoring out of AC'97 reset code from ASoC into the core helper
 - A few regmap API extensions (in case it's not pulled yet)

 ASoC:
 - New drivers for Cirrus CS4349, GTM601, InvenSense ICS43432, Realtek
   RT298 and ST STI controllers
 - Machine drivers for Rockchip systems with MAX98090 and RT5645 and
   RT5650
 - Initial driver support for Intel Skylake devices
 - Lots of rsnd cleanup and enhancements
 - A few DAPM fixes and cleanups
 - A large number of cleanups in various drivers (conversion and
standardized to regmap, component) mostly by Lars-Peter and Axel

 HD-audio:
 - Extended HD-audio core for Intel Skylake controller support
 - Quirks for Dell headsets, Alienware 15
 - Clean up of pin-based quirk tables for Realtek codecs
 - ELD notifier implenetation for Intel HDMI/DP

Lars-Peter Clausen acde50a7bf ASoC: dmaengine_pcm: Make FLAG_NO_RESIDUE internal
Whether residue can be reported or not is not a property of the audio
controller but of the DMA controller. The FLAG_NO_RESIDUE was initially
added when the DMAengine framework had no support for describing the residue
reporting capabilities of the controller. Support for this was added quite a
while ago and recently the DMAengine framework started to complain if a
driver does not describe its capabilities and a lot of patches have been
merged that add support for this where it was missing. So it should be safe
to assume that driver on actively used platforms properly implement the DMA
capabilities API.

This patch makes the FLAG_NO_RESIDUE internal and no longer allows audio
controller drivers to manually set the flag. If a DMA driver against
expectations does not support reporting its capabilities for now the generic
DMAengine PCM driver will now emit a warning and simply assume that residue
reporting is not supported. In the future this might be changed to aborting
with an error.

Finally there are fixes for drivers that improperly compared struct clk

Shawn Guo 81efec8514 ASoC: fsl_spdif: fix struct clk pointer comparing
Since commit 035a61c314 ("clk: Make clk API return per-user struct clk
instances"), clk API users can no longer check if two struct clk
pointers are pointing to the same hardware clock, i.e. struct clk_hw, by
simply comparing two pointers. That's because with the per-user clk
change, a brand new struct clk is created whenever clients try to look
up the clock by calling clk_get() or sister functions like clk_get_sys()
and of_clk_get(). This changes the original behavior where the struct
clk is only created for once when clock driver registers the clock to
CCF in the first place. The net change here is before commit
035a61c314 the struct clk pointer is unique for given hardware
clock, while after the commit the pointers returned by clk lookup calls
become different for the same hardware clock.

That said, the struct clk pointer comparing in the code doesn't work any
more. Call helper function clk_is_match() instead to fix the problem.

Nicolin Chen 6c8ca30eec ASoC: fsl_ssi: Don't try to round-up for PM divisor calculation
According to i.MX6 Series Reference Manual, the formula to calculate
the sys clock is

sysclk rate = bclk rate * (div2 + 1) * (7 * psr + 1) * (pm + 1) * 2

Commit aafa85e71a ("ASoC: fsl_ssi: Add DAI master mode support for
SSI on i.MX series") added the divisor calculation which relies on
the clk_round_rate(). However, at that time, clk_round_rate() didn't
provide closest clock rates for some cases because it might not use
a correct rounding policy. So using the original formula (pm + 1) for
PM divisor was not able to give us a desired clock rate. And then we
used (pm + 2) to do the trick.

However, the clk-divider driver has been refined a lot since commit
b11d282dbe ("clk: divider: fix rate calculation for fractional rates")
Now using (pm + 2) trick would result an incorrect clock rate.

So this patch fixes the problem by removing the useless trick.
