Karsten Graul 026c381fb4 net/smc: introduce link_idx for link group array
The link_id is the index of the link in the array of the link group.
When a link in the array is reused for a new link, a different unique
link_id should be used, otherwise the index in the array could collide
with the previous link at this array position.
Use a new variable link_idx as array index, and make link_id an
increasing unique id value.

Karsten Graul f3c1deddb2 net/smc: separate function for link initialization
Move the initialization of a new link into its own function, separate
from smc_lgr_create, to allow more than one link per link group.
Do an extra check if the IB device initialization was successful, and
reset the link state if any error occurs during smcr_link_init().
And rename two existing functions to use the prefix smcr_ to indicate
that they belong to the SMC-R code path.

Karsten Graul fdff704dc6 net/smc: rework pnet table to support SMC-R failover
The pnet table stored pnet ids in the smc device structures. When a
device is going down its smc device structure is freed, and when the
device is brought online again it no longer has a pnet id set.
Rework the pnet table implementation to store the device name with their
assigned pnet id and apply the pnet id to devices when they are
registered.

Hans Wippel a082ec897f net/smc: improve peer ID in CLC decline for SMC-R
According to RFC 7609, all CLC messages contain a peer ID that consists
of a unique instance ID and the MAC address of one of the host's RoCE
devices. But if a SMC-R connection cannot be established, e.g., because
no matching pnet table entry is found, the current implementation uses a
zero value in the CLC decline message although the host's peer ID is set
to a proper value.

If no RoCE and no ISM device is usable for a connection, there is no LGR
and the LGR check in smc_clc_send_decline() prevents that the peer ID is
copied into the CLC decline message for both SMC-D and SMC-R. So, this
patch modifies the check to also accept the case of no LGR. Also, only a
valid peer ID is copied into the decline message.

Hans Wippel 366bb249b5 net/smc: rework peer ID handling
This patch initializes the peer ID to a random instance ID and a zero
MAC address. If a RoCE device is in the host, the MAC address part of
the peer ID is overwritten with the respective address. Also, a function
for checking if the peer ID is valid is added. A peer ID is considered
valid if the MAC address part contains a non-zero MAC address.

Ursula Braun 51e3dfa890 net/smc: fix cleanup for linkgroup setup failures
If an SMC connection to a certain peer is setup the first time,
a new linkgroup is created. In case of setup failures, such a
linkgroup is unusable and should disappear. As a first step the
linkgroup is removed from the linkgroup list in smc_lgr_forget().

There are 2 problems:
smc_listen_decline() might be called before linkgroup creation
resulting in a crash due to calling smc_lgr_forget() with
parameter NULL.
If a setup failure occurs after linkgroup creation, the connection
is never unregistered from the linkgroup, preventing linkgroup
freeing.

This patch introduces an enhanced smc_lgr_cleanup_early() function
which
* contains a linkgroup check for early smc_listen_decline()
  invocations
* invokes smc_conn_free() to guarantee unregistering of the
  connection.
* schedules fast linkgroup removal of the unusable linkgroup

And the unused function smcd_conn_free() is removed from smc_core.h.

Karsten Graul 5f78fe968d net/smc: simplify normal link termination
smc_lgr_terminate() and smc_lgr_terminate_sched() both result in soft
link termination, smc_lgr_terminate_sched() is scheduling a worker for
this task. Take out complexity by always using the termination worker
and getting rid of smc_lgr_terminate() completely.

Karsten Graul 3739707c45 net/smc: do not delete lgr from list twice
When 2 callers call smc_lgr_terminate() at the same time
for the same lgr, one gets the lgr_lock and deletes the lgr from the
list and releases the lock. Then the second caller gets the lock and
tries to delete it again.
In smc_lgr_terminate() add a check if the link group lgr is already
deleted from the link group list and prevent to try to delete it a
second time.
And add a check if the lgr is marked as freeing, which means that a
termination is already pending.

Karsten Graul 55dd575817 net/smc: improve smc_lgr_cleanup()
smc_lgr_cleanup() is called during termination processing, there is no
need to send a DELETE_LINK at that time. A DELETE_LINK should have been
sent before the termination is initiated, if needed.
And remove the extra call to wake_up(&lnk->wr_reg_wait) because
smc_llc_link_inactive() already calls the related helper function
smc_wr_wakeup_reg_wait().

Ursula Braun 67f562e3e1 net/smc: transfer fasync_list in case of fallback
SMC does not work together with FASTOPEN. If sendmsg() is called with
flag MSG_FASTOPEN in SMC_INIT state, the SMC-socket switches to
fallback mode. To handle the previous ioctl FIOASYNC call correctly
in this case, it is necessary to transfer the socket wait queue
fasync_list to the internal TCP socket.

Eric Dumazet 457fed775c net/smc: fix leak of kernel memory to user space
As nlmsg_put() does not clear the memory that is reserved,
it this the caller responsability to make sure all of this
memory will be written, in order to not reveal prior content.

While we are at it, we can provide the socket cookie even
if clsock is not set.

Hans Wippel 29237d22bc net/smc: allow unprivileged users to read pnet table
The current flags of the SMC_PNET_GET command only allow privileged
users to retrieve entries from the pnet table via netlink. The content
of the pnet table may be useful for all users though, e.g., for
debugging smc connection problems.

This patch removes the GENL_ADMIN_PERM flag so that unprivileged users
can read the pnet table.

Ursula Braun 86434744fe net/smc: add fallback check to connect()
FASTOPEN setsockopt() or sendmsg() may switch the SMC socket to fallback
mode. Once fallback mode is active, the native TCP socket functions are
called. Nevertheless there is a small race window, when FASTOPEN
setsockopt/sendmsg runs in parallel to a connect(), and switch the
socket into fallback mode before connect() takes the sock lock.
Make sure the SMC-specific connect setup is omitted in this case.

This way a syzbot-reported refcount problem is fixed, triggered by
different threads running non-blocking connect() and FASTOPEN_KEY
setsockopt.

Ursula Braun 8204df72be net/smc: fix fastopen for non-blocking connect()
FASTOPEN does not work with SMC-sockets. Since SMC allows fallback to
TCP native during connection start, the FASTOPEN setsockopts trigger
this fallback, if the SMC-socket is still in state SMC_INIT.
But if a FASTOPEN setsockopt is called after a non-blocking connect(),
this is broken, and fallback does not make sense.
This change complements
commit cd2063604e ("net/smc: avoid fallback in case of non-blocking connect")
and fixes the syzbot reported problem "WARNING in smc_unhash_sk".

Ursula Braun 6dabd40545 net/smc: introduce bookkeeping of SMCR link groups
If the smc module is unloaded return control from exit routine only,
if all link groups are freed.
If an IB device is thrown away return control from device removal only,
if all link groups belonging to this device are freed.
Counters for the total number of SMCR link groups and for the total
number of SMCR links per IB device are introduced. smc module unloading
continues only if the total number of SMCR link groups is zero. IB device
removal continues only it the total number of SMCR links per IB device
has decreased to zero.

Ursula Braun 6a37ad3da5 net/smc: wait for tx completions before link freeing
Make sure all pending work requests are completed before freeing
a link.
Dismiss tx pending slots already when terminating a link group to
exploit termination shortcut in tx completion queue handler.

And kill the completion queue tasklets after destroy of the
completion queues, otherwise there is a time window for another
tasklet schedule of an already killed tasklet.

If the ism module is unloaded return control from exit routine only,
if all link groups are freed.
If an IB device is thrown away return control from device removal only,
if all link groups belonging to this device are freed.
A counters for the total number of SMCD link groups per ISM device is
introduced. ism module unloading continues only if the total number of
SMCD link groups for all ISM devices is zero. ISM device
removal continues only it the total number of SMCD link groups per ISM
device has decreased to zero.

A final cleanup due to SMCD device removal means immediate freeing
of all link groups belonging to this device in interrupt context.

This patch introduces a separate SMCD link group termination routine,
which terminates all link groups of an SMCD device.

This new routine smcd_terminate_all ()is reused if the smc module is
unloaded.

Ursula Braun 42bfba9eaa net/smc: immediate termination for SMCD link groups
SMCD link group termination is called when peer signals its shutdown
of its corresponding link group. For regular shutdowns no connections
exist anymore. For abnormal shutdowns connections must be killed and
their DMBs must be unregistered immediately. That means the SMCR method
to delay the link group freeing several seconds does not fit.

This patch adds immediate termination of a link group and its SMCD
connections and makes sure all SMCD link group related cleanup steps
are finished.

Ursula Braun 50c6b20eff net/smc: fix final cleanup sequence for SMCD devices
If peer announces shutdown, use the link group terminate worker for
local cleanup of link groups and connections to terminate link group
in proper context.

Make sure link groups are cleaned up first before destroying the
event queue of the SMCD device, because link group cleanup may
raise events.

Send signal shutdown only if peer has not done it already.

Send socket abort or close only, if peer has not already announced
shutdown.

If an SMC socket is immediately terminated after a non-blocking connect()
has been called, a memory leak is possible.
Due to the sock_hold move in

an extra sock_put() is needed in smc_connect_work(), if the internal
TCP socket is aborted and cancels the sk_stream_wait_connect() of the
connect worker.

Ursula Braun 98f3375505 net/smc: fix ethernet interface refcounting
If a pnet table entry is to be added mentioning a valid ethernet
interface, but an invalid infiniband or ISM device, the dev_put()
operation for the ethernet interface is called twice, resulting
in a negative refcount for the ethernet interface, which disables
removal of such a network interface.

This patch removes one of the dev_put() calls.

Creating of an SMC-R connection with vlan-id fails, because
smc_listen_work() determines the vlan_id of the connection,
saves it in struct smc_init_info ini, but clears the ini area
again if SMC-D is not applicable.
This patch just resets the ISM device before investigating
SMC-R availability.

Ursula Braun f536dffc0b net/smc: fix closing of fallback SMC sockets
For SMC sockets forced to fallback to TCP, the file is propagated
from the outer SMC to the internal TCP socket. When closing the SMC
socket, the internal TCP socket file pointer must be restored to the
original NULL value, otherwise memory leaks may show up (found with
CONFIG_DEBUG_KMEMLEAK).

The internal TCP socket is released in smc_clcsock_release(), which
calls __sock_release() function in net/socket.c. This calls the
needed iput(SOCK_INODE(sock)) only, if the file pointer has been reset
to the original NULL-value.

Taehee Yoo f3b0a18bb6 net: remove unnecessary variables and callback
This patch removes variables and callback these are related to the nested
device structure.
devices that can be nested have their own nest_level variable that
represents the depth of nested devices.
In the previous patch, new {lower/upper}_level variables are added and
they replace old private nest_level variable.
So, this patch removes all 'nest_level' variables.

In order to avoid lockdep warning, ->ndo_get_lock_subclass() was added
to get lockdep subclass value, which is actually lower nested depth value.
But now, they use the dynamic lockdep key to avoid lockdep warning instead
of the subclass.
So, this patch removes ->ndo_get_lock_subclass() callback.

Karsten Graul 107529e31a net/smc: receive pending data after RCV_SHUTDOWN
smc_rx_recvmsg() first checks if data is available, and then if
RCV_SHUTDOWN is set. There is a race when smc_cdc_msg_recv_action() runs
in between these 2 checks, receives data and sets RCV_SHUTDOWN.
In that case smc_rx_recvmsg() would return from receive without to
process the available data.
Fix that with a final check for data available if RCV_SHUTDOWN is set.
Move the check for data into a function and call it twice.
And use the existing helper smc_rx_data_available().

Karsten Graul 882dcfe5a1 net/smc: receive returns without data
smc_cdc_rxed_any_close_or_senddone() is used as an end condition for the
receive loop. This conflicts with smc_cdc_msg_recv_action() which could
run in parallel and set the bits checked by
smc_cdc_rxed_any_close_or_senddone() before the receive is processed.
In that case we could return from receive with no data, although data is
available. The same applies to smc_rx_wait().
Fix this by checking for RCV_SHUTDOWN only, which is set in
smc_cdc_msg_recv_action() after the receive was actually processed.

Currently, we are only explicitly setting SOCK_NOSPACE on a write timeout
for non-blocking sockets. Epoll() edge-trigger mode relies on SOCK_NOSPACE
being set when -EAGAIN is returned to ensure that EPOLLOUT is raised.
Expand the setting of SOCK_NOSPACE to non-blocking sockets as well that can
use SO_SNDTIMEO to adjust their write timeout. This mirrors the behavior
that Eric Dumazet introduced for tcp sockets.

FASTOPEN is not possible with SMC. sendmsg() with msg_flag MSG_FASTOPEN
triggers a fallback to TCP if the socket is in state SMC_INIT.
But if a nonblocking connect is already started, fallback to TCP
is no longer possible, even though the socket may still be in state
SMC_INIT.
And if a nonblocking connect is already started, a listen() call
does not make sense.

Huaping Zhou 4480879251 net/smc: hold conns_lock before calling smc_lgr_register_conn()
After smc_lgr_create(), the newly created link group is added
to smc_lgr_list, thus is accessible from other context.
Although link group creation is serialized by
smc_create_lgr_pending, the new link group may still be accessed
concurrently. For example, if ib_device is no longer active,
smc_ib_port_event_work() will call smc_port_terminate(), which
in turn will call __smc_lgr_terminate() on every link group of
this device. So conns_lock is required here.

Johannes Berg ef6243acb4 genetlink: optionally validate strictly/dumps
Add options to strictly validate messages and dump messages,
sometimes perhaps validating dump messages non-strictly may
be required, so add an option for that as well.

Since none of this can really be applied to existing commands,
set the options everwhere using the following spatch:

Karsten Graul fba7e8ef51 net/smc: cleanup of get vlan id
The vlan_id of the underlying CLC socket was retrieved two times
during processing of the listen handshaking. Change this to get the
vlan id one time in connect and in listen processing, and reuse the id.

Karsten Graul 598866974c net/smc: check for ip prefix and subnet
The check for a matching ip prefix and subnet was only done for SMC-R
in smc_listen_rdma_check() but not when an SMC-D connection was
possible. Rename the function into smc_listen_prfx_check() and move its
call to a place where it is called for both SMC variants.
And add a new CLC DECLINE reason for the case when the IP prefix or
subnet check fails so the reason for the failing SMC connection can be
found out more easily.

Karsten Graul 8ef659f1a8 net/smc: fix return code from FLUSH command
The FLUSH command is used to empty the pnet table. No return code is
expected from the command. Commit a9d8b0b1e3d6 added namespace support
for the pnet table and changed the FLUSH command processing to call
smc_pnet_remove_by_pnetid() to remove the pnet entries. This function
returns -ENOENT when no entry was deleted, which is now the return code
of the FLUSH command. As a result the FLUSH command will return an error
when the pnet table is already empty.
Restore the expected behavior and let FLUSH always return 0.

Ursula Braun 07603b2308 net/smc: propagate file from SMC to TCP socket
fcntl(fd, F_SETOWN, getpid()) selects the recipient of SIGURG signals
that are delivered when out-of-band data arrives on socket fd.
If an SMC socket program makes use of such an fcntl() call, it fails
in case of fallback to TCP-mode. In case of fallback the traffic is
processed with the internal TCP socket. Propagating field "file" from the
SMC socket to the internal TCP socket fixes the issue.

Karsten Graul fd57770dd1 net/smc: wait for pending work before clcsock release_sock
When the clcsock is already released using sock_release() and a pending
smc_listen_work accesses the clcsock than that will fail. Solve this
by canceling and waiting for the work to complete first. Because the
work holds the sock_lock it must make sure that the lock is not hold
before the new helper smc_clcsock_release() is invoked. And before the
smc_listen_work starts working check if the parent listen socket is
still valid, otherwise stop the work early.

Johannes Berg 3b0f31f2b8 genetlink: make policy common to family
Since maxattr is common, the policy can't really differ sanely,
so make it common as well.

The only user that did in fact manage to make a non-common policy
is taskstats, which has to be really careful about it (since it's
still using a common maxattr!). This is no longer supported, but
we can fake it using pre_doit.

This reduces the size of e.g. nl80211.o (which has lots of commands):

Hans Wippel 890a2cb4a9 net/smc: rework pnet table
If a device does not have a pnetid, users can set a temporary pnetid for
said device in the pnet table. This patch reworks the pnet table to make
it more flexible. Multiple entries with the same pnetid but differing
devices are now allowed. Additionally, the netlink interface now sends
each mapping from pnetid to device separately to the user while
maintaining the message format existing applications might expect. Also,
the SMC data structure for ib devices already has a pnetid attribute.
So, it is used to store the user defined pnetids. As a result, the pnet
table entries are only used for netdevs.

Ursula Braun d7cf4a3bf3 net/smc: fix smc_poll in SMC_INIT state
smc_poll() returns with mask bit EPOLLPRI if the connection urg_state
is SMC_URG_VALID. Since SMC_URG_VALID is zero, smc_poll signals
EPOLLPRI errorneously if called in state SMC_INIT before the connection
is created, for instance in a non-blocking connect scenario.

This patch switches to non-zero values for the urg states.

The netfilter conflicts were rather simple overlapping
changes.

However, the cls_tcindex.c stuff was a bit more complex.

On the 'net' side, Cong is fixing several races and memory
leaks.  Whilst on the 'net-next' side we have Vlad adding
the rtnl-ness support.

What I've decided to do, in order to resolve this, is revert the
conversion over to using a workqueue that Cong did, bringing us back
to pure RCU.  I did it this way because I believe that either Cong's
races don't apply with have Vlad did things, or Cong will have to
implement the race fix slightly differently.

Karsten Graul 81cf643052 net/smc: check port_idx of ib event
For robustness protect of higher port numbers than expected to avoid
setting bits behind our port_event_mask. In case of an DEVICE_FATAL
event all ports must be checked. The IB_EVENT_GID_CHANGE event is
provided in the global event handler, so handle it there. And handle a
QP_FATAL event instead of an DEVICE_FATAL event in the qp handler.

Karsten Graul 232dc8ef64 net/smc: original socket family in inet_sock_diag
Commit ed75986f4a ("net/smc: ipv6 support for smc_diag.c") changed the
value of the diag_family field. The idea was to indicate the family of
the IP address in the inet_diag_sockid field. But the change makes it
impossible to distinguish an inet_sock_diag response message from SMC
sock_diag response. This patch restores the original behaviour and sends
AF_SMC as value of the diag_family field.

Hans Wippel 72a36a8aec net/smc: use client and server LGR pending locks for SMC-R
If SMC client and server connections are both established at the same
time, smc_connect_rdma() cannot send a CLC confirm message while
smc_listen_work() is waiting for one due to lock contention. This can
result in timeouts in smc_clc_wait_msg() and failed SMC connections.

In case of SMC-R, there are two types of LGRs (client and server LGRs)
which can be protected by separate locks. So, this patch splits the LGR
pending lock into two separate locks for client and server to avoid the
locking issue for SMC-R.

Ursula Braun 84b799a292 net/smc: correct state change for peer closing
If some kind of closing is received from the peer while still in
state SMC_INIT, it means the peer has had an active connection and
closed the socket quickly before listen_work finished. This should
not result in a shortcut from state SMC_INIT to state SMC_CLOSED.
This patch adds the socket to the accept queue in state
SMC_APPCLOSEWAIT1. The socket reaches state SMC_CLOSED once being
accepted and closed with smc_release().

Ursula Braun b8649efad8 net/smc: fix sender_free computation
In some scenarios a separate consumer cursor update is necessary.
The decision is made in smc_tx_consumer_cursor_update(). The
sender_free computation could be wrong:

The rx confirmed cursor is always smaller than or equal to the
rx producer cursor. The parameters in the smc_curs_diff() call
have to be exchanged, otherwise sender_free might even be negative.

And if more data arrives local_rx_ctrl.prod might be updated, enabling
a cursor difference between local_rx_ctrl.prod and rx confirmed cursor
larger than the RMB size. This case is not covered by smc_curs_diff().
Thus function smc_curs_diff_large() is introduced here.

If a recvmsg() is processed in parallel, local_tx_ctrl.cons might
change during smc_cdc_msg_send. Make sure rx_curs_confirmed is updated
with the actually sent local_tx_ctrl.cons value.

Ursula Braun ad6f317f72 net/smc: preallocated memory for rdma work requests
The work requests for rdma writes are built in local variables within
function smc_tx_rdma_write(). This violates the rule that the work
request storage has to stay till the work request is confirmed by
a completion queue response.
This patch introduces preallocated memory for these work requests.
The storage is allocated, once a link (and thus a queue pair) is
established.

Karsten Graul e5f3aa04db net/smc: use device link provided in qp_context
The device field of the IB event structure does not always point to the
SMC IB device. Load the pointer from the qp_context which is always
provided to smc_ib_qp_event_handler() in the priv field. And for qp
events the affected port is given in the qp structure of the ibevent,
derive it from there.

Karsten Graul 6889b36da7 net/smc: don't wait for send buffer space when data was already sent
When there is no more send buffer space and at least 1 byte was already
sent then return to user space. The wait is only done when no data was
sent by the sendmsg() call.
This fixes smc_tx_sendmsg() which tried to always send all user data and
started to wait for free send buffer space when needed. During this wait
the user space program was blocked in the sendmsg() call and hence not
able to receive incoming data. When both sides were in such a situation
then the connection stalled forever.

To prevent races between smc_lgr_terminate() and smc_conn_free() add an
extra check of the lgr field before accessing it, and cancel a delayed
free_work when a new smc connection is created.
This fixes the problem that free_work cleared the lgr variable but
smc_lgr_terminate() or smc_conn_free() still access it in parallel.

Hans Wippel ca8dc1334a net/smc: allow 16 byte pnetids in netlink policy
Currently, users can only send pnetids with a maximum length of 15 bytes
over the SMC netlink interface although the maximum pnetid length is 16

Myungho Jung 78abe3d0df net/smc: fix TCP fallback socket release
clcsock can be released while kernel_accept() references it in TCP
listen worker. Also, clcsock needs to wake up before released if TCP
fallback is used and the clcsock is blocked by accept. Add a lock to
safely release clcsock and call kernel_sock_shutdown() to wake up
clcsock from accept in smc_release().

Karsten Graul c7674c001b net/smc: unregister rkeys of unused buffer
When an rmb is no longer in use by a connection, unregister its rkey at
the remote peer with an LLC DELETE RKEY message. With this change,
unused buffers held in the buffer pool are no longer registered at the
remote peer. They are registered before the buffer is actually used and
unregistered when they are no longer used by a connection.

If connection initialization fails for the LLC CONFIRM LINK or the
LLC ADD LINK step, fallback to TCP should be enabled. Thus
the negative return code -EAGAIN should switch to a positive timeout

Hans Wippel f07920ad9c net/smc: abort CLC connection in smc_release
In case of a non-blocking SMC socket, the initial CLC handshake is
performed over a blocking TCP connection in a worker. If the SMC socket
is released, smc_release has to wait for the blocking CLC socket
operations (e.g., kernel_connect) inside the worker.

This patch aborts a CLC connection when the respective non-blocking SMC
socket is released to avoid waiting on socket operations or timeouts.
