Alexey Brodkin a4a1139b24 arc_emac: fix compile-time errors & warnings on PPC64
As reported by "kbuild test robot" there were some errors and warnings
on attempt to build kernel with "make ARCH=powerpc allmodconfig".

And this patch addresses both errors and warnings.
Below is a list of introduced changes:
1. Fix compile-time errors (misspellings in "dma_unmap_single") on PPC.
2. Use DMA address instead of "skb->data" as a pointer to data buffer.
This fixed warnings on pointer to int conversion on 64-bit systems.
3. Re-implemented initial allocation of Rx buffers in "arc_emac_open" in
the same way they're re-allocated during operation (receiving packets).
So once again DMA address could be used instead of "skb->data".
4. Explicitly use EMAC_BUFFER_SIZE for Rx buffers allocation.

Gavin Shan 6d446ec32f net/tg3: Avoid delay during MMIO access
When the EEH error is the result of a fenced host bridge, MMIO accesses
can be very slow (milliseconds) to timeout and return all 1's,
thus causing the driver various timeout loops to take way too long and
trigger soft-lockup warnings (in addition to taking minutes to recover).

It might be worthwhile to check if for any of these cases, ffffffff is
a valid possible value, and if not, bail early since that means the HW
is either gone or isolated. In the meantime, checking that the PCI channel
is offline would be workaround of the problem.

Eric Dumazet 51151a16a6 mlx4: allow order-0 memory allocations in RX path
Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <edumazet@google.com>

mlx4 exclusively uses order-2 allocations in RX path, which are
likely to fail under memory pressure.

We therefore drop frames more than needed.

This patch tries order-3, order-2, order-1 and finally order-0
allocations to keep good performance, yet allow allocations if/when
memory gets fragmented.

By using larger pages, and avoiding unnecessary get_page()/put_page()
on compound pages, this patch improves performance as well, lowering
false sharing on struct page.

Also use GFP_KERNEL allocations in initialization path, as allocating 12
MB (390 order-3 pages) can easily fail with GFP_ATOMIC.

David S. Miller 3bae9db9aa Merge branch 'for-davem' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/bwh/sfc-next
Ben Hutchings says:

====================
1. Make EEH recovery work when using legacy interrupts, from Alexandre
   Rames.

2. Enable accelerated RFS for VLAN-tagged flows, from Andy Lutomirski.

3. Improve performance for non-TCP (and particularly UDP) traffic, which
   regressed in 3.10 when we switched to always allocating paged RX
   buffers.  Partly by Jon Cooper.

4. Some minor bug fixes to IOMMU detection, timestamping capabilities,
   and IRQ cleanup on the probe failure path.

I've dropped the RX skb cache, which improved some benchmarks but
perhaps needs some reworking to be more generally useful.

Ben Hutchings 1899c111a5 sfc: Fix IRQ cleanup in case of a probe failure
The lifetime of an irq_cpu_rmap is odd: we have to allocate it before
installing IRQ handlers and free it before removing the IRQ handlers.
As a result of this asymmetry, it was omitted from some failure paths.

On another failure path, we could try to remove IRQ handlers we
had not yet installed.

Move the irq_cpu_rmap allocation and freeing alongside IRQ handler
installation and removal, in efx_nic_{init,fini}_interrupts().
Count the number of IRQ handlers successfully installed and only
remove those on the failure path.

Guenter Roeck d13919301d net: fec: Fix build for MCF5272
Commits 4c09eed9 (net: fec: Enable imx6 enet checksum acceleration) and
baa70a5c (net: fec: enable pause frame to improve rx prefomance for 1G
network) introduced functionality into the FEC driver which is not
supported on MCF5272. The registers used to implement this functionality
do not exist on MCF5272. Since register defines for MCF5272 are separate
from register defines for other chips, building images for MCF5272 fails
as follows.

fec_main.c: In function 'fec_restart':
fec_main.c:520:8: error: 'FEC_RACC' undeclared (first use in this function)
fec_main.c:585:3: error: 'FEC_R_FIFO_RSEM' undeclared (first use in this function)
fec_main.c:586:3: error: 'FEC_R_FIFO_RSFL' undeclared (first use in this function)
fec_main.c:587:3: error: 'FEC_R_FIFO_RAEM' undeclared (first use in this function)
fec_main.c:588:3: error: 'FEC_R_FIFO_RAFL' undeclared (first use in this function)
fec_main.c:591:3: error: 'FEC_OPD' undeclared (first use in this function)

Adding the missing register defines is not an option, since the registers
do not exist on MCF5272. Disable the added functionality for MCF5272 builds.

David S. Miller d98cae64e4 Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net
Conflicts:
	drivers/net/wireless/ath/ath9k/Kconfig
	drivers/net/xen-netback/netback.c
	net/batman-adv/bat_iv_ogm.c
	net/wireless/nl80211.c

The ath9k Kconfig conflict was a change of a Kconfig option name right
next to the deletion of another option.

The xen-netback conflict was overlapping changes involving the
handling of the notify list in xen_netbk_rx_action().

Batman conflict resolution provided by Antonio Quartulli, basically
keep everything in both conflict hunks.

The nl80211 conflict is a little more involved. In 'net' we added a
dynamic memory allocation to nl80211_dump_wiphy() to fix a race that
Linus reported. Meanwhile in 'net-next' the handlers were converted
to use pre and post doit handlers which use a flag to determine
whether to hold the RTNL mutex around the operation.

However, the dump handlers to not use this logic. Instead they have
to explicitly do the locking. There were apparent bugs in the
conversion of nl80211_dump_wiphy() in that we were not dropping the
RTNL mutex in all the return paths, and it seems we very much should
be doing so. So I fixed that whilst handling the overlapping changes.

To simplify the initial returns, I take the RTNL mutex after we try
to allocate 'tb'.

Johannes Berg ab69bde6b2 alx: add a simple AR816x/AR817x device driver
This is a very simple driver, based on the original vendor
driver that Qualcomm/Atheros published/submitted previously,
but reworked to make the code saner. However, it also lost
a number of features (TSO/GSO, VLAN acceleration and multi-
queue support) in the process, as well as debugging support
features I didn't have any use for. The only thing I left
is checksum offload.

More features can obviously be added, but this seemed like
a good start for having a driver in mainline at all.

Michael Chan 72bb72b0d9 tg3: Prevent system hang during repeated EEH errors.
The current tg3 code assumes the pci_error_handlers to be always called
in sequence. In particular, during ->error_detected(), NAPI is disabled
and the device is shutdown. The device is later reset and NAPI
re-enabled in ->slot_reset() and ->resume().

In EEH, if more than 6 errors are detected in a hour, only
->error_detected() will be called. This will leave the driver in an
inconsistent state as NAPI is disabled but netif_running state is still
true. When the device is later closed, we'll try to disable NAPI again
and it will loop forever.

We fix this by closing the device if we encounter any error conditions
during the normal sequence of the pci_error_handlers.

v2: Remove the changes in tg3_io_resume() based on Benjamin Poirier's

Florian Fainelli 3dc6475c0c bcm63xx_enet: add support Broadcom BCM6345 Ethernet
This patch adds support for the Broadcom BCM6345 SoC Ethernet. BCM6345
has a slightly different and older DMA engine which requires the
following modifications:

- the width of the DMA channels on BCM6345 is 64 bytes vs 16 bytes,
  which means that the helpers enet_dma{c,s} need to account for this
  channel width and we can no longer use macros

- BCM6345 DMA engine does not have any internal SRAM for transfering
  buffers

- BCM6345 buffer allocation and flow control is not per-channel but
  global (done in RSET_ENETDMA)

- the DMA engine bits are right-shifted by 3 compared to other DMA
  generations

- the DMA enable/interrupt masks are a little different (we need to
  enabled more bits for 6345)

- some register have the same meaning but are offsetted in the ENET_DMAC
  space so a lookup table is required to return the proper offset

The MAC itself is identical and requires no modifications to work.

Nithin Sujir df465abfe0 tg3: Wait for boot code to finish after power on
Some systems that don't need wake-on-lan may choose to power down the
chip on system standby. Upon resume, the power on causes the boot code
to startup and initialize the hardware. On one new platform, this is
causing the device to go into a bad state due to a race between the
driver and boot code, once every several hundred resumes. The same race
exists on open since we come up from a power on.

This patch adds a wait for boot code signature at the beginning of
tg3_init_hw() which is common to both cases. If there has not been a
power-off or the boot code has already completed, the signature will be
present and poll_fw() returns immediately. Also return immediately if
the device does not have firmware.

- define the required switch registers

On the driver side, the following changes are required:

- the switch ports need to be polled to ensure the link is up and
  running and RX/TX can properly work
- basic switch configuration needs to be performed for the switch to
  forward packets to the CPU
- update the MIB counters since the integrated

Sergei Shtylyov afe391ad4b sh_eth: create initial ID table
We are trying to get away from the current driver's scheme of identifying a SoC
based on #ifdef's and the platform device ID table matching seems to be a good
replacement -- we can use the 'driver_data' field of 'struct platform_device_id'
as a pointer to a 'struct sh_eth_cpu_data'. Start by creating the initial table
with driver's name as the only entry without the driver data. Check the driver
data in the probe() method and if it's not NULL override 'mdp->cd' from it.

Thomas Petazzoni 8cc3e439ab net: mvneta: read MAC address from hardware when available
This patch improves the logic used by the mvneta driver to find a MAC
address for a particular interface. Until now, it was only looking at
the Device Tree, and if no address was found, was falling back to
generating a random MAC address.

This patch adds the intermediate solution of reading the MAC address
from the hardware registers, in case it has been set by the
bootloader. So the order is now:

 1) MAC address from the Device Tree
 2) MAC address from the hardware registers
 3) Random MAC address

This requires moving the MAC address initialization a little bit later
in the ->probe() code, because it now requires the hardware registers
to be remapped.

Jay Hernandez e69972f52b cxgb4: Force uninitialized state if FW_ON_ADAPTER is < FW_VERSION and we're the MASTER_PF
Forcing uninitialized state allows us to upgrade and reinitialize the adapter.

FW_VERSION_T4 = 1.4.0.0
FW_VERSION_T5 = 0.0.0.0
At this point driver supports above and greater than above version of firmware.
If it doesn't find the required firmware version than it forces the adapter to
be reinitialized as shown below.

1) If FW_ON_ADAPTER < FW_VERSION and we're the MASTER_PF force uninitialized
   state and a FW upgrade if available.

       - If FW_ON_ADAPTER < /lib/firmware/cxgb4/t*fw.bin we will update the
         adapters FW.
       - If FW_ON_ADAPTER >= /lib/firmware/cxgb4/t*fw.bin don't upgrade FW.
       - If upgrade_fw() fails force reinitialization of the adapter anyways,
         it might still work.

   Either way forcing the uninitialized state allows cxgb4 reinitialize FW.

2) If FW_ON_ADAPTER >= FW_VERSION driver follows normal path.

Sebastian Hesselbarth cb85215ffc net: mv643xx_eth: proper initialization for Kirkwood SoCs
Ethernet controllers found on Kirkwood SoCs not only suffer from loosing
MAC address register contents on clock gating but also some important
registers are reset to values that would break ethernet. This patch
clears the CLK125_BYPASS_EN bit for DT enabled Kirkwood only by using
of_device_is_compatible() instead of #ifdefs. Non-DT Kirkwood is not
affected as it installs a clock gating workaround because of the MAC
address issue above. Other Orion SoCs do not suffer from register reset,
do not have the bit in question, or do not have the register at all.
Moreover, system controllers on PPC using this driver should also be
protected from clearing that bit.

Yuval Mintz 3fb43eb20a bnx2x: Change to D3hot only on removal
This changes the PCI power management scheme of the bnx2x driver to be similar
to those of most network drivers - the driver will now changes the power state

This change enables the driver to access its eeprom via ethtool callbacks
even when interfaces are unloaded (such access requires the function to be

Yuval Mintz b030ed2fdc bnx2x: Implement PCI shutdown
Implement the PCI shutdown callback to support un-orderly shutdown, i.e.,
shutdowns in which the remove callback will not be called.

Due to the lack of this functionality, when an un-orderly shutdown occurred,

This is now fixed as the callback introduces the correct place in which
`system_state' can be queried and wake-on-lan be configured accordingly.

Wei Yang 950e2958a5 be2net: bug fix on returning an invalid nic descriptor
In function be_get_nic_desc(), it will go through the descriptor array
returned from f/w. By comparing the desc_type field, it determines whether
there is a nic descriptor in the array or not. In the case of no nic
descriptor, this function should return NULL.

The code may return an invalide descriptor, when there is no nic descriptor
in the array and the desc_count is less than MAX_RESOURCE_DESC. In this case,
even there is no nic descriptor, it will still return the lase descriptor
since the i doesn't equal to MAX_RESOURCE_DESC.

This patch fix this issue by returning the descriptor when find it and return
NULL for other cases.

Yuval Mintz e68072ef46 bnx2x: Wait for MCP validity during AER
During PCIe advanced error recovery, the secondary bus reset will cause FW
to reset; This will cause the shared memory between it and the driver to be

During the driver's recovery flow, the driver should not make any assumption

Dmitry Kravkov 178135c116 bnx2x: Link-flap avoidance in switch dependent mode
As part of the previous unload flow, probed devices will reset the chip
in order to clean the remains of the UNDI driver.
As a result, it's possible for the FW to toggle the link.

This toggling can prove fatal, as long periods without link can cause the
filesystem mount to fail as the storage protocol timeouts. This has been
observed against particular switches with long link re-establishment time.

This patch informs FW during the reset period that the link should not
be toggled - the FW will keep it alive until some interface will load and claim
the link as its own.

means that if a platform wishes to use the driver, its architecture must
be added to the list explicitly, introducing pointless churn.

This may have been due to the driver's use of the {read,write}s{b,w,l}
functions, which have since been replaced with the more standard
io{read,write}{8,16,32}_rep. We can instead depend on HAS_IOMEM, which
should prevent build issues while allowing the driver to be built for
currently unlisted architectures, including x86 and arm64.

This patch removes the explicit list of architectures from the driver's
depend line, and replaces it with a dependency on HAS_IOMEM.

Nithin Sujir fb03a43f5f tg3: Ensure boot code has completed initialization before accessing hardware
After resetting the device, the driver waits for a signature to be
updated to know that firmware has completed initialization. However, the
call to tg3_poll_fw() is being done too late and we're writing to the
GRC_MODE register before it has completely initialized, causing
contention with firmware. This logic has existed since day one but is
causing PCIE link to go down randomly at startup on one platform once
every few hundred reboots.

Move the tg3_poll_fw() up to before we write to the GRC_MODE register
after reset.

when using GSO, if the driver will not set the IP checksum flag then packets
will be transmitted by the chip without a valid IP checksum, resulting in
a drop of all such packets on the receiver-side.

Eric Dumazet 8802f5790e net-bnx2x: dont reload on GRO change
bnx2x_set_features() forces a driver reload if GRO setting is changed.

A reload makes the ethernet port unresponsive for about 5 seconds.

This is not needed in the common case LRO is enabled, as LRO
(TPA_ENABLE_FLAG) has precedence over GRO (GRO_ENABLE_FLAG)

Tested:
 Verified that "ethtool -K eth0 gro {on|off}" doesn't blackout
 the NIC anymore

françois romieu b423e9ae49 r8169: fix offloaded tx checksum for small packets.
8168evl offloaded checksums are wrong since commit
e5195c1f31 ("r8169: fix 8168evl frame padding.")
pads small packets to 60 bytes (without ethernet checksum). Typical symptoms
appear as UDP checksums which are wrong by the count of added bytes.

It isn't worth compensating. Let the driver checksum.

Due to the skb length changes, TSO code is moved before the Tx descriptor gets
written.

Linus Torvalds e51066824a Merge branch 'devm_no_resource_check' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/wsa/linux
Pull devm usage cleanup from Wolfram Sang:
 "Lately, I have been experimenting how to improve the devm interface to
  make writing device drivers easier and less error prone while also
  getting rid of its subtle issues. I think it has more potential but
  still needs work and definately conistency, especiall in its usage.

  The first thing I come up with is a low hanging fruit regarding
  devm_ioremap_resouce(). This function already checks if the passed
  resource is valid and gives an error message if not. So, we can
  remove similar checks from the drivers and get rid of a bit of code
  and a number of inconsistent error strings.

  This series only removes the unneeded check iff devm_ioremap_resource
  follows platform_get_resource directly. The previous version tried to
  shuffle code if needed, too, what lead to an embarrasing bug. It
  turned out to me that shuffling code for all cases found will make the
  automated script too complex, so I am unsure if an automated cleanup
  is the proper tool for this case. Removing the easy stuff seems
  worthwhile to me, though.

  Despite various architectures and platform dependencies, I managed to
  compile test 45 out of 57 modified files locally using heuristics and
  defconfigs."

It seems that txq_reclaim() takes the netif tx lock:

        __netif_tx_lock(nq, smp_processor_id());

in a context outside of softirq context, and thus is susceptible to
deadlock should an interrupt occur.

Use __netif_tx_lock_bh()/__netif_tx_unlock_bh() instead.

Fabio Estevam 1ed0d56c1d fec: Invert the order of function calls in fec_restart()
commit 54309fa6 ("net: fec: fix kernel oops when plug/unplug cable many times")
introduced the following 'if' block in the beginning of fec_start():

	if (netif_running(ndev)) {
		netif_device_detach(ndev);
		napi_disable(&fep->napi);
		netif_stop_queue(ndev);
		netif_tx_lock_bh(ndev);
	}

Then later in the end of fec_restart() there is another block that calls the
opposite of each one of these functions.

The correct approach would be to also call them with in the reverse order, so
that we have as result:

	if (netif_running(ndev)) {
		netif_tx_unlock_bh(ndev);
		netif_wake_queue(ndev);
		napi_enable(&fep->napi);
		netif_device_attach(ndev);

introduces clear-on-write on ISR register. This behavior is not always
implemented when using Cadence MACB/GEM and is breaking other platforms.
We are using the Design Configuration Register 1 information and a capability
property to actually activate this clear-on-write behavior on ISR.

Ben Hutchings 950c54df1e sfc: Reduce RX scatter buffer size, and reduce alignment if appropriate
efx_start_datapath() asserts that we can fit 2 RX scatter buffers plus
a software structure, each appropriately aligned, into a single page.
Where L1_CACHE_BYTES == 256 and PAGE_SIZE == 4096, which is the case
on s390, this assertion fails.

The current scatter buffer size is also not a multiple of 64 or 128,
which are more common cache line sizes. If we can make both the start
and end of a scatter buffer cache-aligned, this will reduce the need
for read-modify-write operations on inter- processor links.

Fix the alignment by reducing EFX_RX_USR_BUF_SIZE to 2048 - 256 ==
1792.  (We could use 2048 - L1_CACHE_BYTES, but EFX_RX_USR_BUF_SIZE
also affects user-level networking where a larger amount of
housekeeping data may be needed. Although this version of the driver
does not support user-level networking, I prefer to keep scattering
behaviour consistent with the out-of-tree version.)

This still doesn't fix the s390 build because like most architectures
it has NET_IP_ALIGN == 2.  When NET_IP_ALIGN != 0 we cannot achieve
cache line alignment at either the start or end of a scatter buffer,
so there is actually no point in padding the buffers to a multiple of
the cache line size. All we need is 4-byte alignment of the network
header, so do that.

Adjust the assertions accordingly.

Thadeu Lima de Souza Cascardo ef38079401 qlge: fix dma map leak when the last chunk is not allocated
qlge allocates chunks from a page that it maps and unmaps that page when
the last chunk is released. When the driver is unloaded or the card is
removed, all chunks are released and the page is unmapped for the last
chunk.

However, when the last chunk of a page is not allocated and the device
is removed, that page is not unmapped. In fact, its last reference is
not put and there's also a page leak. This bug prevents a device from
being properly hotplugged.

When the DMA API debug option is enabled, the following messages show
the pending DMA allocation after we remove the driver.

This patch fixes the bug by unmapping and putting the page from the ring
if its last chunk has not been allocated.

pci 0005:98:00.0: DMA-API: device driver has pending DMA allocations while released from device [count=1]

Petri Gynther 23fbb5a87c emac: Fix EMAC soft reset on 460EX/GT
Fix EMAC soft reset on 460EX/GT to select the right PHY clock source
before and after the soft reset.

EMAC with PHY should use the clock from PHY during soft reset.
EMAC without PHY should use the internal clock during soft reset.

PPC460EX/GT Embedded Processor Advanced User's Manual
section 28.10.1 Mode Register 0 (EMACx_MR0) states:
Note: The PHY must provide a TX Clk in order to perform a soft reset
of the EMAC. If none is present, select the internal clock
(SDR0_ETH_CFG[EMACx_PHY_CLK] = 1).
After a soft reset, select the external clock.

Without the fix, 460EX/GT-based boards with RGMII PHYs attached to
EMACs experience EMAC interrupt storm and system watchdog reset when
issuing "ifconfig eth0 down" + "ifconfig eth0 up" a few times.
The system enters endless loop of serving emac_irq() with EMACx_ISR
register stuck at value 0x10000000 (Rx parity error).

With the fix, the above issue is no longer observed.

Linus Torvalds b32729b1ee Merge branch 'stable' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/cmetcalf/linux-tile
Pull tile update from Chris Metcalf:
 "The interesting bug fix is support for the upcoming "4.2" release of
  the Tilera hypervisor, which by default launches Linux at privilege
  level 2 instead of 1. The fix lets new and old hypervisors and
  Linuxes interoperate more smoothly, so I've tagged it for
  stable@kernel.org so that older Linuxes will be able to boot under the
  newer hypervisor."

Frank Li 54309fa60b net: fec: fix kernel oops when plug/unplug cable many times
reproduce steps
 1. flood ping from other machine
 	ping -f -s 41000 IP
 2. run below script
    while [ 1 ]; do ethtool -s eth0 autoneg off;
    sleep 3;ethtool -s eth0 autoneg on; sleep 4; done;

You can see oops in one hour.

The reason is fec_restart clear BD but NAPI may use it.
The solution is disable NAPI and stop xmit when reset BD.
disable NAPI may sleep, so fec_restart can't be call in
atomic context.
