Lionel Landwerlin dab9178333 drm/i915: expose command stream timestamp frequency to userspace
We use to have this fixed per generation, but starting with CNL userspace
cannot tell just off the PCI ID. Let's make this information available. This
is particularly useful for performance monitoring where much of the
normalization work is done using those timestamps (this include pipeline
statistics in both GL & Vulkan as well as OA reports).

Lionel Landwerlin 5888576b0b drm/i915: fix register naming
This name was added with the whitelisting of registers for building up OA
configs. It is contained in a range gen8 whitelist :

   addr >= RPM_CONFIG0.reg && addr <= NOA_CONFIG(8).reg

Hence why the name isn't used anywhere.

Oscar Mateo 1b790cd9bf drm/i915: Remove Gen9 WAs with no effect
GEN8_CONFIG0 (0xD00) is a protected by a lock (bit 31) which is set by
the BIOS, so there is no way we can enable the three chicken bits
mandated by the WA (the BIOS should be doing it instead).

Rafael Antognolli 0a60797a0e drm/i915: Implement ReadHitWriteOnlyDisable.
The workaround for this is described as:

"if RenderSurfaceState.Num_Multisamples > 1, disable RCC clock gating if
RenderSurfaceState.Num_Multisamples == 1, set 0x7010[14] = 1"

Further documentation in the internal bug referenced by the bspec
suggest that any of the above suggestions should suffice to fix the
issue. We are going with disabling RCC clock gating.

Unfortunately, what we are doing doesn't match the name of the
workaround, but at least it matches its description.

This change improves CNL stability by avoiding some of the hangs seen in
the platform.

Mika Kuoppala 7130630323 drm/i915: Use fallback forcewake if primary ack missing
There is a possibility on gen9 hardware to miss the forcewake ack
message. The recommended workaround is to use another free
bit and toggle it until original bit is successfully acknowledged.

Some future gen9 revs might or might not fix the underlying issue but
using fallback forcewake bit dance can be considered as harmless:
without the ack timeout we never reach the fallback bit forcewake.
Thus as of now we adopt a blanket approach for all gen9 and leave
the bypassing the fallback bit approach for future patches if
corresponding hw revisions do appear.

Commit 83e3337204 ("drm/i915: Increase maximum polling time to 50ms
for forcewake request/clear ack") did increase the forcewake timeout.
If the issue was a delayed ack, future work could include finding
a suitable timeout value both for primary ack and reserve toggle
to reduce the worst case latency.

Rodrigo Vivi f8c3dcf946 drm/i915/cnl: Fix SSEU Device Status.
CNL adds an extra register for slice/subslice information.
Although no SKU is planed with an extra slice let's already
handle this extra piece of information so we don't have the
risk in future of getting a part that might have chosen this
part of the die instead of other slices or anything like that.

Also if subslice is disabled the information of eu ack for that
is garbage, so let's skip checks for eu if subslice is disabled
as we skip the subslice if slice is disabled.

The rest is pretty much like gen9.

v2: Remove IS_CANNONLAKE from gen9 status function.

v3: Consider s_max = 6 and ss_max=4 to run over all possible
    slices and subslices possible by spec. Although no real
    hardware will have that many slices/subslices.
    To match with sseu info init.
v4: Fix offset calculation for slices 4 and 5.
    Removed Oscar's rv-b since this change also needs review.
v5: Let's consider only valid bits for SLICE*_PGCTL_ACK.
    This looks like wrong in Spec, but seems to be enough
    for now. Whenever Spec gets updated and fixed we come
    back and properly update the masks. Also add a FIXME,
    so we can revisit this later when we find some strange
    info on debugfs or when we noitce spec got updated.

Rodrigo Vivi 0aab201b4a drm/i915/cnl: Get RC6 working.
On CNL, individual wake rate limit was added to each engine.

GT can only go to RC6 if both Render and Media engines are
individually qualified. So we need to set their individual
wake rate limit.

James Ausmus 6fa228ba96 drm/i915: Fix DP_AUX_CH_CTL_TIME_OUT naming
Rename DP_AUX_CH_CTL_TIME_OUT_1600us to DP_AUX_CH_CTL_TIME_OUT_MAX, as
the meaning of the (3 << 26) value varies per platform, but it's always the
maximum timeout for that platform. Pre-CNL it means 1600us, and for CNL
it means 3200us.

Michał Winiarski 5152defe4a drm/i915/preempt: Default to disabled mid-command preemption levels
Supporting fine-granularity preemption levels may require changes in
userspace batch buffer programming. Therefore, we need to fallback to
safe default values, rather that use hardware defaults. Userspace is
still able to enable fine-granularity, since we're whitelisting the
register controlling it in WaEnablePreemptionGranularityControlByUMD.

Imre Deak ed69cd4068 drm/i915/glk, cnl: Implement WaDisableScalarClockGating
On GLK and CNL enabling a pipe with its pipe scaler enabled will result
in a FIFO underrun. This happens only once after driver loading or
system/runtime resume, more specifically after power well 1 gets
enabled; subsequent modesets seem to be free of underruns. The BSpec
workaround for this is to disable the pipe scaler clock gating for the
duration of modeset. Based on my tests disabling clock gating must be
done before enabling pipe scaling and we can re-enable it after the pipe
is enabled and one vblank has passed.

For consistency I also checked if plane scaling would cause the same
problem, but that doesn't seem to trigger this problem.

The patch is based on an earlier version from Ander.

Uma Shankar aec0246f3e drm/i915: Enable scanline read based on frame timestamps
For certain platforms on certain encoders, timings are driven
from port instead of pipe. Thus, we can't rely on pipe scanline
registers to get the timing information. Some cases scanline
register read will not be functional.
This is causing vblank evasion logic to fail since it relies on
scanline, causing atomic update failure warnings.

This patch uses pipe framestamp and current timestamp registers
to calculate scanline. This is an indirect way to get the scanline.
It helps resolve atomic update failure for gen9 dsi platforms.

register MACROs, handled race condition for register reads,
extracted timings from the hwmode. Removed the dependency on
crtc->config to get the encoder type.

everything, and does not hurt."

Ville Syrjälä 93564044fb drm/i915: Switch over to the LLC/eLLC hotspot avoidance hash mode for CCS
Use the LLC/eLLC hotspot avoidance mode for CCS on LLC machines. This is
reported to give better performance.

Testing has indicated that we don't need to enforce any massive 2 or 4
MiB alignment for all compressed resources even though there are still
plenty of stale comments in the spec suggesting that we do.

We do need to make sure every hardware unit that deals with the
compressed data uses the same hash mode.

Kumar, Mahesh 2503a0fef2 drm/i915/bxt+: Enable IPC support
This patch adds IPC support. This patch also enables IPC in all supported
platforms based on has_ipc flag.
IPC (Isochronous Priority Control) is the hardware feature, which
dynamically controls the memory read priority of Display.

When IPC is enabled, plane read requests are sent at high priority until
filling above the transition watermark, then the requests are sent at
lower priority until dropping below the level 0 watermark.
The lower priority requests allow other memory clients to have better
memory access. When IPC is disabled, all plane read requests are sent at
high priority.

Rodrigo Vivi 0a46ddd57c drm/i915/cnp: Wa 1181: Fix Backlight issue
This workaround fixes a CNL PCH bug when changing
backlight from a lower frequency to a higher frequency.

During random reboot cycles, display backlight seems to
be off/ dim for 2-3 mins.

The only functional change on this patch is to
set bit 13 of 0xC2020 for CNL PCH.

The rest of patch is organizing identation around
those bits definitions and re-organizing CFL workarounds.

Rodrigo Vivi 86ebb015fa drm/i915/cnl: WaDisableI2mCycleOnWRPort
On CNL B0 stepping GAM is not able to detect some deadlock
condition and then rise the rise the gam_coh_flush.

WA database and spec both mentions to set 4AB8[24]=1 as
workaround. Although register offset 0x4AB8 is not
documented for any platform.

To avoid a potential hang condition with TLB invalidation
we need to enable masked bit 5 of MMIO 0xE5F0 at boot.

Same workaround was in place for previous platforms,
but the register offset has changed for CNL.
But also BSpec doesn't mention the bit 15 as set on gen9
platforms and mark bit as reserved on CNL.

This bit enables hardware that will change the approximation used for distances
calculations for AA wide lines so that they are rendered more accurately.

The default value for this bit leaves the legacy behavior. There is no good
reason to not enable the new approximation except if comparing to previous GEN
rendered images.

Imre Deak 9c3a16c887 drm/i915/hsw+: Add support for multiple power well regs
Future platforms increase the number of power wells which require
additional control registers. A convenient way to select the correct
register is to use the high bits of the power well ID as index. This
patch only prepares for this, while upcoming platform enabling patches
will add the actual new power well IDs and corresponding power well

Ville Syrjälä 2e2adb0573 drm/i915: Add render decompression support
SKL+ display engine can scan out certain kinds of compressed surfaces
produced by the render engine. This involved telling the display engine
the location of the color control surfae (CCS) which describes
which parts of the main surface are compressed and which are not. The
location of CCS is provided by userspace as just another plane with its
own offset.

Add the required stuff to validate the user provided AUX plane metadata
and convert the user provided linear offset into something the hardware
can consume.

Due to hardware limitations we require that the main surface and
the AUX surface (CCS) be part of the same bo. The hardware also
makes life hard by not allowing you to provide separate x/y offsets
for the main and AUX surfaces (excpet with NV12), so finding suitable
offsets for both requires a bit of work. Assuming we still want keep
playing tricks with the offsets. I've just gone with a dumb "search
backward for suitable offsets" approach, which is far from optimal,
but it works.

Also not all planes will be capable of scanning out compressed surfaces,
and eg. 90/270 degree rotation is not supported in combination with
decompression either.

Imre Deak b2891eb253 drm/i915/hsw+: Add has_fuses power well attribute
The pattern of a power well backing a set of fuses whose initialization
we need to wait for during power well enabling is common to all GEN9+
platforms. Adding support for this to the HSW power well enable helper
allows us to use the HSW/BDW power well code for GEN9+ as well in a
follow-up patch.

Imre Deak 1af474fef2 drm/i915/hsw+: Unify the hsw/bdw and gen9+ power well req/state macros
Although on HSW/BDW there is only a single display global power well,
it's programmed the same way as other GEN9+ power wells. This also
means we can get at the HSW/BDW request and status flags the same way
it's done on GEN9+ by assigning the corresponding HSW/BDW power well ID.
This ID was assigned in a recent patch, so we can now switch to using
the same macros everywhere on HSW+.

Updating the HSW power well control register with RMW is not strictly
necessary, but this will allow us to use the same code for GEN9+.

Add an ID for the HSW/BDW global display power well for consistency. The
ID is selected so that it can be used to get at the HW request and
status flags with the corresponding GEN9+ macros. Unifying the HSW/BDW

Imre Deak 438b8dc457 drm/i915: Unify power well ID enums
Atm, the power well IDs are defined in separate platform specific enums,
which isn't ideal for the following reasons:
- the IDs are used by helpers like lookup_power_well() in a platform
  independent way
- the always-on power well is used by multiple platforms and so needs
  now separate IDs, although these IDs refer to the same thing

To make things more consistent use a single enum instead of the two
separate ones, listing the IDs per platform (or set of very similar
platforms like all GEN9/10). Replace the separate always-on power
well IDs with a single ID.

While at it also add a note clarifying the distinction between regular
power wells that follow a common programming pattern and custom ones
that are programmed in some other way. The IDs for regular power wells
need to stay fixed, since they also define the request and state HW flag
positions in their corresponding power well control register(s).

Imre Deak f49193cd62 drm/i915/chv: Add unique power well ID for the pipe A power well
The power well IDs are used for lookup, so they must be unique on a
given platform; ensure this on CHV. This didn't cause an actual problem
since we didn't need to look up power wells which happened to share an
ID.

Mark this new power well as custom, since its programming pattern
doesn't follow that of the rest of VLV/CHV power wells.

Robert Bragg 19f81df285 drm/i915/perf: Add OA unit support for Gen 8+
Enables access to OA unit metrics for BDW, CHV, SKL and BXT which all
share (more-or-less) the same OA unit design.

Of particular note in comparison to Haswell: some OA unit HW config
state has become per-context state and as a consequence it is somewhat
more complicated to manage synchronous state changes from the cpu while
there's no guarantee of what context (if any) is currently actively
running on the gpu.

The periodic sampling frequency which can be particularly useful for
system-wide analysis (as opposed to command stream synchronised
MI_REPORT_PERF_COUNT commands) is perhaps the most surprising state to
have become per-context save and restored (while the OABUFFER
destination is still a shared, system-wide resource).

This support for gen8+ takes care to consider a number of timing
challenges involved in synchronously updating per-context state
primarily by programming all config state from the cpu and updating all
current and saved contexts synchronously while the OA unit is still
disabled.

The driver intentionally avoids depending on command streamer
programming to update OA state considering the lack of synchronization
between the automatic loading of OACTXCONTROL state (that includes the
periodic sampling state and enable state) on context restore and the
parsing of any general purpose BB the driver can control. I.e. this
implementation is careful to avoid the possibility of a context restore
temporarily enabling any out-of-date periodic sampling state. In
addition to the risk of transiently-out-of-date state being loaded
automatically; there are also internal HW latencies involved in the
loading of MUX configurations which would be difficult to account for
from the command streamer (and we only want to enable the unit when once
the MUX configuration is complete).

Since the Gen8+ OA unit design no longer supports clock gating the unit
off for a single given context (which effectively stopped any progress
of counters while any other context was running) and instead supports
tagging OA reports with a context ID for filtering on the CPU, it means
we can no longer hide the system-wide progress of counters from a
non-privileged application only interested in metrics for its own
context. Although we could theoretically try and subtract the progress
of other contexts before forwarding reports via read() we aren't in a
position to filter reports captured via MI_REPORT_PERF_COUNT commands.
As a result, for Gen8+, we always require the
dev.i915.perf_stream_paranoid to be unset for any access to OA metrics
if not root.

sequence and registers used.

One big difference from SKL is that CDCLK PLL is now

Ville Syrjälä 3fd5d1ecae drm/i915: Implement fbc_status "Compressing" info for all platforms
The number of compressed segments has been available ever since
FBC2 was introduced in g4x, it just moved from the STATUS register
into STATUS2 on IVB.

For FBC1 if we really wanted the number of compressed segments we'd
have to trawl through the tags, but in this case since the code just
uses the number of compressed segments as an indicator whether
compression has occurred we can just check the state of the
COMPRESSING and COMPRESSED bits. IIRC the hardware will try to
periodically recompress all uncompressed lines even if they haven't
changed and the COMPRESSED bit will be cleared while the compressor
is running, so just checking the COMPRESSED bit might not give us
the right answer. Hence it seems better to check for both
COMPRESSED and COMPRESSING as that should tell us that the
compressor is at least trying to do something.

While at it move the IVB+ register define to the right place, unify
the naming convention of the compressed segment count masks, and
fix up the mask for g4x.

Rodrigo Vivi 3d02352cd9 drm/i915/cnp: add CNP gmbus support
On CNP PCH based platforms the gmbus is on the south display that
is on PCH. The existing implementation for previous platforms
already covers the need for CNP expect for the pin pair configuration
that follows similar definitions that we had on BXT.

v2: Don't drop "_BXT" as the indicator of the first platform
    supporting this pin numbers. Suggested by Daniel.
v3: Add missing else and fix register table since CNP GPIO_CTL
    starts on 0xC5014.
v4: Fix pin number and map according to the current available VBT.
    Re-add pin 4 for port D. Lost during some rebase.
v5: Use table as spec. If VBT is wrong it should be ignored.

Rodrigo Vivi 9d81a99713 drm/i915/cnp: Get/set proper Raw clock frequency on CNP.
RAWCLK_FREQ register has changed for platforms with CNP+.

[29:26] This field provides the denominator for the fractional
	part of the microsecond counter divider.  The numerator
	is fixed at 1. Program this field to the denominator of
	the fractional portion of reference frequency minus one.
	If the fraction is 0, program to 0.
	0100b = Fraction .2 MHz = Fraction 1/5.
	0000b = Fraction .0 MHz.

[25:16] This field provides the integer part of the microsecond
	counter divider. Program this field to the integer portion
	of the reference frequenct minus one.

Also this register tells us that proper raw clock should be read
from SFUSE_STRAP and programmed to this register. Up to this point
on other platforms we are reading instead of programming it so
probably relying on whatever BIOS had configured here.

Now on let's follow the spec and also program this register
fetching the right value from SFUSE_STRAP as Spec tells us to do.

Ville Syrjälä 024faac7d5 drm/i915: Support variable cursor height on ivb+
IVB introduced the CUR_FBC_CTL register which allows reducing the cursor
height down to 8 lines from the otherwise square cursor dimensions.
Implement support for it. CUR_FBC_CTL can't be used when the cursor
is rotated.

Commandeer the otherwise unused cursor->cursor.size to track the
current value of CUR_FBC_CTL to optimize away redundant CUR_FBC_CTL
writes, and to notice when we need to arm the update via CURBASE if
just CUR_FBC_CTL changes.

Ville Syrjälä 6f38123eca drm/i915: Fix rawclk readout for g4x
Turns out our skills in decoding the CLKCFG register weren't good
enough. On this particular elk the answer we got was 400 MHz when
in reality the clock was running at 266 MHz, which then caused us
to program a bogus AUX clock divider that caused all AUX communication
to fail.

Sadly the docs are now in bit heaven, so the fix will have to be based
on empirical evidence. Using another elk machine I was able to frob
the FSB frequency from the BIOS and see how it affects the CLKCFG
register. The machine seesm to use a frequency of 266 MHz by default,
and fortunately it still boot even with the 50% CPU overclock that
we get when we bump the FSB up to 400 MHz.

It turns out the actual FSB frequency and the register have no real
link whatsoever. The register value is based on some straps or something,
but fortunately those too can be configured from the BIOS on this board,
although it doesn't seem to respect the settings 100%. In the end I was
able to derive the following relationship:

BIOS FSB / strap | CLKCFG
-------------------------
200              | 0x2
266              | 0x0
333              | 0x4
400              | 0x4

So only the 200 and 400 MHz cases actually match how we're currently
decoding that register. But as the comment next to some of the defines
says, we have been just guessing anyway.

So let's fix things up so that at least the 266 MHz case will work
correctly as that is actually the setting used by both the buggy
machine and my test machine.

The fact that 333 and 400 MHz BIOS settings result in the same register
value is a little disappointing, as that means we can't tell them apart.
However, according to the gmch datasheet for both elk and ctg 400 Mhz is
not even a supported FSB frequency, so I'm going to make the assumption
that we should decode it as 333 MHz instead.

Shashank Sharma 1595363788 drm/i915: enable scrambling
Geminilake platform sports a native HDMI 2.0 controller, and is
capable of driving pixel-clocks upto 594Mhz. HDMI 2.0 spec
mendates scrambling for these higher clocks, for reduced RF footprint.

This patch checks if the monitor supports scrambling, and if required,
enables it during the modeset.

Mika Kuoppala 679cb6c132 drm/i915: Use ktime to calculate rc0 residency
We have used cz timestamp register to gain a reference time wrt
to residency calculations. The residency counts are in cz clk ticks
(333Mhz clock) but for some reason the cz timestamp register gives
100us units. Perhaps for some other usage, the base-ten based values
are easier, but in residency calculations raw units would have been
the easiest.

As there is not much advantage of using base-ten clock through
a more costly punit access, take our reference times directly from
kernel clock.

Chris Wilson 655d49ef77 drm/i915: Rename REDIRECT_TO_GUC bit
The REDIRECT_TO_GUC bit is a strange beast as it is a disable bit -
setting the bit in the pm interrupt generation stops the interrupt going
to the guc (not sending it to the guc as the name implies). To help the
reader rename it to DISABLE_REDIRECT_TO_GUC so that we keep the bspec
greppable name without it being as confusing!

Sagar Arun Kamble 9735b04d0c drm/i915: Initialize pm_intr_keep during intel_irq_init for GuC
Driver needs to ensure that it doesn't mask the PM interrupts, which are
unmasked/needed by GuC firmware. For that, Driver maintains a bitmask of
interrupts to be kept unmasked, pm_intr_keep.

pm_intr_keep was determined across GuC load. GuC gets loaded in different
scenarios and it is not going to change the pm_intr_keep so this patch
moves its setup to intel_irq_init.

This patch fixes incorrect RPS masking leading to UP interrupts triggered
even when at cur_freq=max and inversly for Down interrupts.

which is caused by the compiling expanding every _MIPI_PORT into an
on-stack array of u32[3] at every callsite. Not sure why only one
machine/compiler appears susceptible, but with a minor tweak to _MIPI_PORT
we can defer the error until later.

This is a partial revert of commit ce64645d86 ("drm/i915: use variadic
macros and arrays to choose port/pipe based registers") for a particular
bad offender.

Following a reset, the context and page directory registers are lost.
However, the queue of requests that we resubmit after the reset may
depend upon them - the registers are restored from a context image, but
that restore may be inhibited and may simply be absent from the request
if it was in the middle of a sequence using the same context. If we
prime the CCID/PD registers with the first request in the queue (even
for the hung request), we prevent invalid memory access for the
following requests (and continually hung engines).

v2: Magic BIT(8), reserved for future use but still appears unused.
v3: Some commentary on handling innocent vs guilty requests
v4: Add a wait for PD_BASE fetch. The reload appears to be instant on my
Ivybridge, but this bit probably exists for a reason.

Chris Wilson 949e8ab3a9 drm/i915: Use the size/type of address space to make decisions
Once the address space has been created (using 3 or 4 levels of page
tables), we should use that to program the appropriate type into the
contexts. This gives us the flexibility to handle different types of
address spaces at runtime.

Takashi Iwai 9db13e5f2d drm/i915: Enable VLV audio chicken bit for LPE audio
The audio chicken bit (register offset 0x62f38) seems required to make
DP audio working on some machines.  At least, on Dell Wyse 3040, I
failed to get the audio unless this bit is set once.

Strangely, the bit seems necessary only once, and it persists after
that, even some power-off cycles.  The register is supposedly
write-only, so it's no evidence whether the bit keeps effect
persistently.  But, judging from the experiment, it looks enough to
set it up once at the device initialization.

The patch is basically a cut from the original patch by Pierre-Louis
Bossart.

Jani Nikula ce64645d86 drm/i915: use variadic macros and arrays to choose port/pipe based registers
This allows the use of more than 3 ports/pipes/whatever without tricks,
even if the register offsets are not evenly spaced.

There's the risk of out of bounds access if we're not careful; currently
that would "just" lead to the wrong register offset being used. It might
be possible to add build bug ons for build time constant indexing.

We already have ports defined up to E, not sure if we might have bugs
related to them and the current _PORT3() macro.

The gamma tables in Geminilake were changed. There is no split-gamma
mode. Instead, there is a dedicated degamma table that is enabled
whenever pipe CSC is enabled.

The dedicated gamma table has 16 bit precision but doesn't support
separate channels. Since that doesn't match the per-channel format of
the degamma LUT property, for now only a linear table is loaded and the
property ignored.

3. Create IRQ chip to forward HDMI LPE audio irqs.

HDMI LPE audio driver (a standalone sound driver) probes the
LPE audio device and creates a new sound card.

bit field 31:28 gives the live state of PSR2.
It can be used to check if system is in deep sleep,

when system is in idle state, DEEP_SLEEP(8) must be entered.
When video playback is happening, system must be in
SLEEP(3 / selective update) or SU_STANDBY( 6 / selective update standby)

Psr1 and psr2 are mutually exclusive,ie when psr2 is enabled,
psr1 should be disabled.When psr2 is exited , bit 31 of reg
PSR2_CTL must be set to 0 but currently bit 31 of SRD_CTL
(psr1 control register)is set to 0.
Also ,PSR2_IDLE state is looked up from SRD_STATUS(psr1 register)
instead of PSR2_STATUS register, which has wrong data, resulting
in blankscreen.
hsw_enable_source is split into hsw_enable_source_psr1 and
hsw_enable_source_psr2 for easier code review and maintenance,
as suggested by rodrigo and jim.

Ville Syrjälä 8fdded8215 drm/i915: Disable L2 cache clock gating on 830 when using the overlay
BSpec says:
"Overlay Clock Gating Must be Disabled: Overlay & L2 Cache clock gating
must be disabled in order to prevent device hangs when turning off overlay.SW
must turn off Ovrunit clock gating (6200h) and L2 Cache clock gating (C8h)."

We only turned off the overlay clock gating (due to lack of docs I
presume). After a bit of experimentation it looks like the the magic
C8h register lives in the PCI config space of device 0, and the magic
bit appears to be bit 2. Or at the very least this eliminates the GPU
death after MI_OVERLAY_OFF.

L2 clock gating seems to save ~80mW, so let's keep it on unless we need
to actually use the overlay.

Also let's move the OVRUNIT clock gating to the same place since we can,
and 845 supposedly doesn't need it.

Robert Bragg d79651522e drm/i915: Enable i915 perf stream for Haswell OA unit
Gen graphics hardware can be set up to periodically write snapshots of
performance counters into a circular buffer via its Observation
Architecture and this patch exposes that capability to userspace via the
i915 perf interface.

Praveen Paneri 85ee17ebee drm/i915/bxt: Broxton decoupled MMIO
Decoupled MMIO is an alternative way to access forcewake domain
registers, which requires less cycles for a single read/write and
avoids frequent software forcewake.
This certainly gives advantage over the forcewake as this new
mechanism “decouples” CPU cycles and allow them to complete even
when GT is in a CPD (frequency change) or C6 state.

This can co-exist with forcewake and we will continue to use forcewake
as appropriate. E.g. 64-bit register writes to avoid writing 2 dwords
separately and land into funny situations.

Libin Yang 6014ac122e drm/i915/audio: set proper N/M in modeset
When modeset occurs and the LS_CLK is set to some special values in DP
mode, the N/M need to be set manually if audio is playing. Otherwise the
first several seconds may be silent in audio playback.

The relationship of Maud and Naud is expressed in the following
equation:

Maud/Naud = 512 * fs / f_LS_Clk

Please refer VESA DisplayPort Standard spec for details.

Sagar Arun Kamble 26705e2075 drm/i915: Support for GuC interrupts
There are certain types of interrupts which Host can receive from GuC.
GuC ukernel sends an interrupt to Host for certain events, like for
example retrieve/consume the logs generated by ukernel.
This patch adds support to receive interrupts from GuC but currently
enables & partially handles only the interrupt sent by GuC ukernel.
Future patches will add support for handling other interrupt types.

Lyude 656d1b89e5 drm/i915/skl: Add support for the SAGV, fix underrun hangs
Since the watermark calculations for Skylake are still broken, we're apt
to hitting underruns very easily under multi-monitor configurations.
While it would be lovely if this was fixed, it's not. Another problem
that's been coming from this however, is the mysterious issue of
underruns causing full system hangs. An easy way to reproduce this with
a skylake system:

- Get a laptop with a skylake GPU, and hook up two external monitors to
  it
- Move the cursor from the built-in LCD to one of the external displays
  as quickly as you can
- You'll get a few pipe underruns, and eventually the entire system will
  just freeze.

After doing a lot of investigation and reading through the bspec, I
found the existence of the SAGV, which is responsible for adjusting the
system agent voltage and clock frequencies depending on how much power
we need. According to the bspec:

"The display engine access to system memory is blocked during the
 adjustment time. SAGV defaults to enabled. Software must use the
 GT-driver pcode mailbox to disable SAGV when the display engine is not
 able to tolerate the blocking time."

The rest of the bspec goes on to explain that software can simply leave
the SAGV enabled, and disable it when we use interlaced pipes/have more
then one pipe active.

Sure enough, with this patchset the system hangs resulting from pipe
underruns on Skylake have completely vanished on my T460s. Additionally,
the bspec mentions turning off the SAGV	with more then one pipe enabled
as a workaround for display underruns. While this patch doesn't entirely
fix that, it looks like it does improve the situation a little bit so
it's likely this is going to be required to make watermarks on Skylake
fully functional.

This will still need additional work in the future: we shouldn't be
enabling the SAGV if any of the currently enabled planes can't enable WM
levels that introduce latencies >= 30 µs.

 - Apparently sandybridge_pcode_read actually writes values and reads
   them back, despite it's misleading function name. This means we've
   been doing this mostly wrong and have been writing garbage to the
   SAGV control. Because of this, we no longer attempt to read the SAGV
   status during initialization (since there are no helpers for this).
 - mlankhorst noticed that this patch was breaking on some very early
   pre-release Skylake machines, which apparently don't allow you to
   disable the SAGV. To prevent machines from failing tests due to SAGV
   errors, if the first time we try to control the SAGV results in the
   mailbox indicating an invalid command, we just disable future attempts
   to control the SAGV state by setting dev_priv->skl_sagv_status to
   I915_SKL_SAGV_NOT_CONTROLLED and make a note of it in dmesg.
 - Move mutex_unlock() a little higher in skl_enable_sagv(). This
   doesn't actually fix anything, but lets us release the lock a little
   sooner since we're finished with it.

Lyude 87660502f1 drm/i915/gen6+: Interpret mailbox error flags
In order to add proper support for the SAGV, we need to be able to know
what the cause of a failure to change the SAGV through the pcode mailbox
was. The reasoning for this is that some very early pre-release Skylake
machines don't actually allow you to control the SAGV on them, and
indicate an invalid mailbox command was sent.

This also might come in handy in the future for debugging.

Imre Deak ed6143b8f7 drm/i915/lvds: Restore initial HW state during encoder enabling
Atm the LVDS encoder depends on the PPS HW context being saved/restored
from generic suspend/resume code. Since the PPS is specific to the LVDS
and eDP encoders a cleaner way is to reinitialize it during encoder
enabling, so do this here for LVDS. Follow-up patches will init the PPS
for the eDP encoder similarly and remove the suspend/resume time save /
restore.

Imre Deak 44cb734cd2 drm/i915: Merge the PPS register definitions
The PPS registers are pretty much the same everywhere, the differences
being:
- Register fields appearing, disappearing from one platform to the
  next: panel-reset-on-powerdown, backlight-on, panel-port,
  register-unlock
- Different register base addresses
- Different number of PPS instances: 2 on VLV/CHV/BXT, 1 everywhere
  else.

We can merge the separate set of PPS definitions by extending the PPS
instance argument to all platforms and using instance 0 on platforms
with a single instance. This means we'll need to calculate the register
addresses dynamically based on the given platform and PPS instance.

Chris Wilson 5ac9793bf9 drm/i915: Fix use of engine->index for register offset
Since commit de1add3605 ("drm/i915: Decouple execbuf uAPI from internal
implementation") the index of the engine (its engine->id) in the
internal list no longer matches the hardware id. However, in a couple of
locations we missed fixing up the difference. In this case,
RING_FAULT_REG() refers to engine->id which is now not what the register
offset actually should be. Fortunately, in both case we should be more
or less looping over 0..I915_NUM_ENGINES.

Mika Kuoppala 873e8171ae drm/i915/gen9: Add WaDisableGatherAtSetShaderCommonSlice
Add WaDisableGatherAtSetShaderCommonSlice for all gen9 as stated
by bspec. The bspec told to put this workaround to the per ctx bb.
Initial implementation and subsequent review were done based on
bspec. Arun raised a suspicion that this would belong to indirect bb
instead and he conducted more throughout investigation on the matter
and indeed the documentation was wrong.

Imre Deak fc61984172 drm/i915/bxt: Fix sanity check for BIOS RC6 setup
BXT BIOS has two options related to GPU power management: "RC6(Render
Standby)" and "GT PM Support". The assumption so far was that disabling
either of these options would leave RC6 uninitialized. According to my
tests this isn't so: for a proper RC6 setup we only need the "GT PM
Support" option to be enabled while the "RC6" option only controls
whether RC6 is left enabled or not by BIOS. OTOH we were missing a few
checks to ensure a proper RC6 setup. Add these now and don't fail the
sanity check if RC6 is disabled. This fixes a problem where RC6 remains
disabled after reloading the driver, since we explicitly disable RC6
during unloading.

generated from the configuration of system-wide PPGTT usage model.

GVT-g will load the PPGTT shadow page table by itself and probably one

This mode allows to assign EUs to pools which can process work collectively.
The command to enable this mode should be issued as part of context initialization.

The pooled mode is global, once enabled it has to stay the same across all
contexts until HW reset hence this is sent in auxiliary golden context batch.
Thanks to Mika for the preliminary review and comments.

User space clients need to know when the pooled EU feature is present
and enabled on the hardware so that they can adapt work submissions.
Create a new device info flag for this purpose.

Set has_pooled_eu to true in the Broxton static device info - Broxton
supports the feature in hardware and the driver will enable it by
default.

We need to add getparam ioctls to enable userspace to query availability of
this feature and to retrieve min. no of eus in a pool but we will expose
them once userspace support is available. Opensource users for this feature
are mesa, libva and beignet.

Beignet team is currently working on adding userspace support.

Imre Deak e93da0a013 drm/i915/bxt: Sanitiy check the PHY lane power down status
We can check the power state of the PHY data and common lanes as
reported by the PHY. Do this in case we need to debug problems where the
PHY gets stuck in an unexpected state.

Note that I only check these when the lanes are expected to be powered
on purpose, since it's not clear at what point the PHY power/clock gates
things.

Imre Deak 9c8d0b8e53 drm/i915/bxt: Move DDI PHY enabling/disabling to the power well code
So far we depended on the HW to dynamically power down unused PHYs and
so we enabled them manually once during driver loading/resuming. There
are indications however that we can achieve better power savings by
manual powering toggling. So make the PHY enabling/disabling to happen
on-demand whenever we need either the corresponding AUX or port
functionality. CHV does this already by enabling the PHY along the
corresponding PHY common lane power wells there, do the same on BXT by
adding virtual power wells for the same purpose.

Also sanity check the common lane power down ack signal from the PHY. Do
this only when the PHY is enabled, since it's not clear at what point
the HW power/clock gates things.

While at it rename broxton_ prefix to bxt_ in related function names to
better align with the SKL code.
