The current code is more complicated than necessary and can only report
unsupported SFP+ module if it is plugged in after the device is up.
Rename bnxt_port_module_event() to bnxt_get_port_module_status(). We
already have the current module_status in the link_info structure, so
just check that and report any unsupported SFP+ module status. Delete
the unnecessary last_port_module_event. Call this function at the
end of bnxt_open to report unsupported module already plugged in.

The current code has 2 problems:
1. The maximum wait time is not long enough. It is about 60% of the
duration specified by the firmware. It is calling usleep_range(600, 800)
for every 1 msec we are supposed to wait.
2. The granularity of the delay is too coarse. Many simple firmware
commands finish in 25 usec or less.
We fix these 2 issues by multiplying the original 1 msec loop counter by
40 and calling usleep_range(25, 40) for each iteration.
There is also a second delay loop to wait for the last DMA word to
complete. This delay loop should be a very short 5 usec wait.
This change results in much faster bring-up/down time:

The chip supports 4K/8K/64K page sizes for the rings and we try to
match it to the CPU PAGE_SIZE. The current page size limits for the rings
are based on 4K/8K page size. If the page size is 64K, these limits are
too large. Reduce them appropriately.

When there is only 1 MSI-X vector or in INTA mode, tx and rx pre-set
max channel parameters are shown incorrectly in ethtool -l. With only 1
vector, bnxt_get_max_rings() will return -ENOMEM. bnxt_get_channels
should check this return value, and set max_rx/max_tx to 0 if it is
non-zero.

The nf_conntrack_core.c fix in 'net' is not relevant in 'net-next'
because we no longer have a per-netns conntrack hash.
The ip_gre.c conflict as well as the iwlwifi ones were cases of
overlapping changes.

Add detection and recovery code when the hardware returned opaque value
does not match the expected consumer index. Once the issue is detected,
we skip the processing of all RX and LRO/GRO packets. These completion
entries are discarded without sending the SKB to the stack and without
producing new buffers. The function will be reset from a workqueue.

There is a rare hardware bug that can cause a bad opaque value in the RX
or TPA completion. When this happens, the hardware may have used the
same buffer twice for 2 rx packets. In addition, the driver will also
crash later using the bad opaque as the index into the ring.
The rx opaque value is predictable and is always monotonically increasing.
The workaround is to keep track of the expected next opaque value and
compare it with the one returned by hardware during RX and TPA start
completions. If they miscompare, we will not process any more RX and
TPA completions and exit NAPI. We will then schedule a workqueue to
reset the function.
This patch adds the logic to keep track of the next rx consumer index.

In netdevice.h we removed the structure in net-next that is being
changes in 'net'. In macsec.c and rtnetlink.c we have overlaps
between fixes in 'net' and the u64 attribute changes in 'net-next'.
The mlx5 conflicts have to do with vxlan support dependencies.

We recently had a system crash in the cnic module. Vmcore analysis confirmed
that "ip link up" was executed which failed due to an allocation failure
because of memory fragmentation. Futher analysis revealed that the cnic irq
vector was still allocated after the "ip link up" that failed. When
"ip link down" was executed it called free_msi_irqs() which crashed the system
because the cnic irq was still inuse.

This returns control back to cnic_netdev_event() but now the cnic irq vector
is still allocated even although cnic_cm_open() failed. The next
"ip link down" while trigger the crash.
The cnic_start_hw() routine is not handling the allocation failure correctly.
Fix this by checking whether CNIC_DRV_STATE_HANDLES_IRQ flag is set indicating
that the hardware has been started in cnic_start_hw(). If it has then call
cp->stop_hw() which frees the cnic irq vector and cnic resources. Otherwise
just maintain the previous behaviour and free cnic resources.
I reproduced this by injecting an ENOMEM error into cnic_cm_alloc_mem()s return
code.

The multicast/all-multicast internal flags are not properly restored
after device reset. This could lead to unreliable multicast operations
after an ethtool configuration change for example.
Call bnxt_mc_list_updated() and setup the vnic->mask in bnxt_init_chip()
to fix the issue.

The code determines if the next ring entry is valid before proceeding
further to read the rest of the entry. The CPU can re-order and read
the rest of the entry first, possibly reading a stale entry, if DMA
of a new entry happens right after reading it. This issue can be
readily seen on a ppc64 system, causing it to crash.

This patch assumes that the bnxt hardware will ignore existing IPv4/v6
header fields for length and checksum as well as the length and checksum
fields for outer UDP and GRE headers.
I have been told by Michael Chan that this is working. Though this might
be somewhat redundant for IPv6 as they are forcing the checksum to be
computed for all IPv6 frames that are offloaded. A follow-up patch may be
necessary in order to fix this as it is essentially mangling the outer IPv6
headers to add a checksum where none was requested.

If PAGE_SIZE is bigger than BNXT_RX_PAGE_SIZE, that means the native CPU
page is bigger than the maximum length of the RX BD. Divide the page
into multiple 32K buffers for the aggregation ring.
Add an offset field in the bnxt_sw_rx_agg_bd struct to keep track of the
page offset of each buffer. Since each page can be referenced by multiple
buffer entries, call get_page() as needed to get the proper reference
count.

The RX BD length field of this device is 16-bit, so the largest buffer
size is 65535. For LRO and GRO, we allocate native CPU pages for the
aggregation ring buffers. It won't work if the native CPU page size is
64K or bigger.
We fix this by defining BNXT_RX_PAGE_SIZE to be native CPU page size
up to 32K. Replace PAGE_SIZE with BNXT_RX_PAGE_SIZE in all appropriate
places related to the rx aggregation ring logic.
The next patch will add additional logic to divide the page into 32K
chunks for aggrgation ring buffers if PAGE_SIZE is bigger than
BNXT_RX_PAGE_SIZE.

Only core revisions older than 4 use BGMAC_CMDCFG_SR_REV0. This mainly
fixes support for BCM4708A0KF SoCs with Ethernet core rev 5 (it means
only some devices as most of BCM4708A0KF-s got core rev 4).
This was tested for regressions on BCM47094 which doesn't seem to care
which bit gets used.

On some dual port cards, link speeds on both ports have to be compatible.
Firmware will inform the driver when a certain speed is no longer
supported if the other port has linked up at a certain speed. Add
logic to handle this event by logging a message and getting the
updated list of supported speeds.

Some hypervisors (e.g. ESX) require the VF MAC address to be forwarded to
the PF for approval. In Linux PF, the call is not forwarded and the
firmware will simply check and approve the MAC address if the PF has not
previously administered a valid MAC address for this VF.

dmadesc_set() is used for setting the Tx buffer DMA address, length,
and status bits on a Tx ring descriptor when a frame is being Tx'ed.
Always set the Tx buffer DMA address first, before updating the length
and status bits, i.e. giving the Tx descriptor to the hardware.
The reason this is a cleanup rather than a fix is that the hardware
won't transmit anything from a Tx ring until the TDMA producer index
has been incremented. As long as the dmadesc_set() writes complete
before the TDMA producer index write, life is good.

If autoneg is off, we should always report the speed and duplex settings
even if it is link down so the user knows the current settings. The
unknown speed and duplex should only be used for autoneg when link is
down.

Currently, the driver only sets bit 0 of the async_event_fwd fields.
To be compatible with the latest spec, we need to set the
appropriate event bits handled by the driver. We should be handling
link change and PF driver unload events, so these 2 bits should be
set.

The existing code does the following:
allocate completion ring
initialize completion ring doorbell
disable interrupts on this completion ring by writing to the doorbell
We can have a race where firmware sends an asynchronous event to the host
after completion ring allocation and before doorbell is initialized.
When this happens driver can crash while ringing the doorbell using
uninitialized value as part of handling the IRQ/napi request.

skb_len needs to be skb_headlen(skb) in bcmgenet_xmit_single().
Fragmented skbs can have only Ethernet + IP + TCP headers (14+20+20=54 bytes)
in the linear buffer, followed by the rest in fragments. Bumping skb_len to
ETH_ZLEN would be incorrect for this case, as it would introduce garbage
between TCP header and the fragment data.
This also works with regular/non-fragmented small packets < ETH_ZLEN bytes.
Successfully tested this on GENETv3 with 42-byte ARP frames.
For testing, I used:

1. Add bytes_compl local variable to __bcmgenet_tx_reclaim() to collect
transmitted bytes. dev->stats updates can then be moved outside the
while-loop. bytes_compl is also needed for future BQL support.
2. When bcmgenet device uses Tx checksum offload, each transmitted skb
gets an extra 64-byte header prepended to it. Before this header is
prepended to the skb, we need to save the skb "wire" length in
GENET_CB(skb)->bytes_sent, so that proper Tx bytes accounting can
be done in __bcmgenet_tx_reclaim().
3. skb->len covers the entire length of skb, whether it is linear or
fragmented. Thus, when we clean the fragments, do not increase
transmitted bytes.

When un-mapping skb->data in __bcmgenet_tx_reclaim(),
we must use the length that was used in original dma_map_single(),
instead of skb->len that might be bigger (includes the frags)
We simply can store skb_len into tx_cb_ptr->dma_len and use it
at unmap time.

Not all adapters have FC-NPIV configured. If bnx2fc is used with such an
adapter, driver would read irrelevant data from the the nvram and log
"FC-NPIV table with bad length..." In system logs.
Simply accept that reading '0' as the feature offset in nvram indicates
the feature isn't there and return.

When driver has hit a parity event, HW can no longer write to host memory.
As a result, Tx completions cannot be written to the host SB memory, and
waiting for Tx completions eventually timeout.
As driver is willing to delay as much as 1-2 seconds per Tx queue for its
draining and this delay is sequential, the time to recover might greatly
lengthen needlessly in case the recovery is done under multi-connection
traffic.

Allow all autoneg speeds aupported by firmware to be advertised. If
the advertising parameter is 0, then all supported speeds will be
advertised.
Remove BNXT_ALL_COPPER_ETHTOOL_SPEED which is no longer used as all
supported speeds can be advertised.

The supported bits and advertising bits in ethtool have the same
definitions. The same is true for the firmware bits. So use the
common function to handle the conversion for both supported and
advertising bits.

I added this check in setup_tc to multiple drivers,
if (handle != TC_H_ROOT || tc->type != TC_SETUP_MQPRIO)
Unfortunately restricting to TC_H_ROOT like this breaks the old
instantiation of mqprio to setup a hardware qdisc. This patch
relaxes the test to only check the type to make it equivalent
to the check before I broke it. With this the old instantiation
continues to work.
A good smoke test is to setup mqprio with,

For consistency with other event data structs and to lessen

It's not really a bug, but it was odd that bnx2x_eq_int() read the
message data as if it were a cfc_del_event regardless of the event type.
It's cleaner to access only the appropriate member of union event_data
after checking the event opcode.

When a VF is sending a message to the PF, it needs to trigger the PF
to tell it the message is ready.
The trigger did not work on ppc64. No interrupt appeared in the PF.
The bug is due to confusion about the layout of struct trigger_vf_zone.
In bnx2x_send_msg2pf() the trigger is written using writeb(), not
writel(), so the attempt to define the struct with a reversed layout on
big-endian is counter-productive.

bnx2x crashes during the initialization of the 8021q module on ppc64.
The bug is a missing conversion from le32 in
bnx2x_handle_classification_eqe() when obtaining the cid value from
struct eth_event_data.
The fields in struct eth_event_data should all be declared as
little-endian and conversions added where missing.

This is used to send NVM_FIND_DIR_ENTRY messages which can return error
if the entry is not found. This is normal and the error message will
cause unnecessary alarm, so silence it.

Use appropriate firmware request header structure to prepare the
firmware messages. This avoids the unnecessary conversion of the
fields to 32-bit fields. Add appropriate endian conversion when
printing out the message fields in dmesg so that they appear correct
in the log.

Before this patch, we used a hardcoded value of 500 msec as the default
value for firmware message response timeout. For better portability with
future hardware or debug platforms, use the value provided by firmware in
the first response and store it for all susequent messages. Redefine the
macro HWRM_CMD_TIMEOUT to the stored value. Since we don't have the
value yet in the first message, use the 500 ms default if the stored value
is zero.

When tx and rx rings don't share the same completion ring, tx coalescing
parameters can be set differently from the rx coalescing parameters.
Otherwise, use rx coalescing parameters on shared completion rings.
Adjust rx coalescing default values to lower interrupt rate.

Don't convert these to internal hardware tick values before storing
them. This avoids the confusion of ethtool -c returning slightly
different values than the ones set using ethtool -C when we convert
hardware tick values back to micro seconds. Add better comments for
the hardware settings.
Also, rename the current set of coalescing fields with rx_ prefix.
The next patch will add support of tx coalescing values.

During remove_one() when SRIOV is enabled, the PF driver
should broadcast PF driver unload notification to all
VFs that are attached to VMs. Upon receiving the PF
driver unload notification, the VF driver should print
a warning message to message log. Certain operations on the
VF may not succeed after the PF has unloaded.

Allow the VF to setup its own MAC address if the PF has not administratively
set it for the VF. To do that, we should always store the MAC address
from the firmware. There are 2 cases:
1. The MAC address is valid. This MAC address is assigned by the PF and
it needs to override the current VF MAC address.
2. The MAC address is zero. The VF will use a random MAC address by default.
By storing this 0 MAC address in the VF structure, it will allow the VF
user to change the MAC address later using ndo_set_mac_address() when
it sees that the stored MAC address is 0.

When CONFIG_GENEVE is built as a loadable module, and bnx2x is built-in,
we get this link error:

This avoids the problem by adding a separate Kconfig symbol named
CONFIG_BNX2X_GENEVE that is only enabled when the code is
reachable from the driver.
This is the same trick that BNX2X does for VXLAN support, and
is similar to how I40E handles both.

The arithmetic to zero pad the last 64-bit word in the push buffer is not
correct.
1. It should be pdata + length to get to the end.
2. 'pdata' is void pointer and passing it to PTR_ALIGN() will cast the
aligned pointer to void. Pass 'end' which is u64 pointer to PTR_ALIGN()
instead so that the aligned pointer - 1 is the last 64-bit pointer to data.

The PHY link state is not chaged in GENETv2 caused by the previous
commit 49f7a471e4 ("net: bcmgenet: Properly configure PHY to ignore
interrupt") was set to PHY_IGNORE_INTERRUPT in bcmgenet_mii_probe().
The internal PHY should use phy_mac_interrupt() when not in use
PHY_POLL. The statement for phy_mac_interrupt() has two conditions. The
first condition to check GENET_HAS_MDIO_INTR is not related PHY link
state, so this patch removes it.

Fix bnxt_update_phy_setting() to check the correct parameters when
determining whether to update the PHY. Requested line speed/duplex should
only be checked for forced speed mode. This avoids unnecessary link
interruptions when loading the driver.

When shutting down the NIC, we shutdown async event processing before
freeing all the rings. If there is a link change event during reset, the
driver may miss it and the link state may be incorrect after the NIC is
re-opened. Poll the link at the end of __bnxt_open_nic() to get the
correct link status.

This patch updates setup_tc so we can pass additional parameters into
the ndo op in a generic way. To do this we provide structured union
and type flag.
This lets each classifier and qdisc provide its own set of attributes
without having to add new ndo ops or grow the signature of the
callback.

The ndo_setup_tc() op was added to support drivers offloading tx
qdiscs however only support for mqprio was ever added. So we
only ever added support for passing the number of traffic classes
to the driver.
This patch generalizes the ndo_setup_tc op so that a handle can
be provided to indicate if the offload is for ingress or egress
or potentially even child qdiscs.

There are several scenarios where taking a register dump from a device
might log benign GRC timeout attentions to system logs.
Most common of those is when taking the dump from a 2-port device.
Sadly, there's no easy way to mask the problematic attentions during the
flow - Changing this behvaior would require a firmware update.
For now, simply warn users to ignore the warnings.

Driver is currently looking at shared information for determining whether
DCBx can be supported for a given port.
On 4-port devices, up-to-date management firmware can support DCBx on
each port of a given engine independently - but that would cause bnx2x to
misinterpert the support and assume DCBx is supported on both.

This adds the ability to perform RSS hashing based on encapsulated
headers for a geneve-encapsulated packet.
This also changes the Vxlan implementation in bnx2x to be uniform
for both vxlan and geneve [from configuration perspective].

The current default tx ring size of 512 causes an extra page to be
allocated for the tx ring with only 1 entry in it. Reduce it to
511. The default rx ring size is also reduced to 511 to use less
memory by default.

tx push is supported for small packets to reduce DMA latency. The
following bugs are fixed in this patch:
1. Fix the definition of the push BD which is different from the DMA BD.
2. The push buffer has to be zero padded to the next 64-bit word boundary
or tx checksum won't be correct.
3. Increase the tx push packet threshold to 164 bytes (192 bytes with the BD)
so that small tunneled packets are within the threshold.

Cleanup bnxt_probe_phy() to cleanly separate 2 code blocks for autoneg
on and off. Autoneg flow control is possible only if autoneg is enabled.
In bnxt_get_settings(), Pause and Asym_Pause are always supported.
Only the advertisement bits change depending on the ethtool -A setting
in auto mode.

1. Determine autoneg on|off setting from link_info->autoneg. Using the
firmware returned setting can be misleading if autoneg is changed and
there hasn't been a phy update from the firmware.
2. If autoneg is disabled, link_info->autoneg should be set to 0 to
indicate both speed and flow control autoneg are disabled.
3. To enable autoneg flow control, speed autoneg must be enabled.

tg3_tso_bug() can hit a condition where the entire tx ring is not big
enough to segment the GSO packet. For example, if MSS is very small,
gso_segs can exceed the tx ring size. When we hit the condition, it
will cause tx timeout.
tg3_tso_bug() is called to handle TSO and DMA hardware bugs.
For TSO bugs, if tg3_tso_bug() cannot succeed, we have to drop the packet.
For DMA bugs, we can still fall back to linearize the SKB and let the
hardware transmit the TSO packet.
This patch adds a function tg3_tso_bug_gso_check() to check if there
are enough tx descriptors for GSO before calling tg3_tso_bug().
The caller will then handle the error appropriately - drop or
lineraize the SKB.

The bgmac driver depends on BCMA_HOST_SOC, which is only used
when CONFIG_BCMA is enabled. However, it is a bool option and can
be set when CONFIG_BCMA=m, and then bgmac can be built-in, leading
to an obvious link error:

alternative so we can test-build it in all configurations that
support BCMA.
The added dependency on FIXED_PHY addresses a related issue where
we cannot call fixed_phy_register() when CONFIG_FIXED_PHY=m and
CONFIG_BGMAC=y.

The ring index j is not wrapped properly at the end of the ring, causing
it to reference pointers past the end of the ring. For proper loop
termination and to access the ring properly, we need to increment j and
mask it before referencing the ring entry.

This hardware counter is misleading as it counts dropped packets that
don't match the hardware filters for unicast/broadcast/multicast. We
will still report this counter in ethtool -S for diagnostics purposes.

Use completion ring for ring free response from firmware. The response

By the time we execute bcmgenet_mii_probe(), the MDIO bus structure has
long been allocated and registered. Overirring the PHY interrupt using
the MDIO bus structure has no chance to work anymore, because
of_mdiobus_register() has call phy_device_create() for use, which copied
the MDIO bus address's irq for the PHY into the PHY device "irq" member.
Since we do have a proper reference to a PHY device in
bcmgenet_mii_probe(), just assign the desired IRQ value here.

Use HWRM_FW_RESET command to request a self-reset of the embedded
processor(s) after successfully applying a firmware update. For boot
processor, the self-reset is currently deferred until the next PCIe reset.

For future compatibility, zero pad all messages that the driver sends
to the firmware to 128 bytes. If these messages are extended in the
future with new byte enables, zero padding these messages now will
guarantee future compatibility.

Have mdio_alloc() create the array of interrupt numbers, and

In order to support dedicated or shared completion rings, the ring
indexing and mapping are re-structured as below:
1. bp->grp_info[] array index is 1:1 with bp->bnapi[] array index and
completion ring index.
2. rx rings 0 to n will be mapped to completion rings 0 to n.
3. If tx and rx rings share completion rings, then tx rings 0 to m will
be mapped to completion rings 0 to m.
4. If tx and rx rings use dedicated completion rings, then tx rings 0 to
m will be mapped to completion rings n + 1 to n + m.
5. Each tx or rx ring will use the corresponding completion ring index
for doorbell mapping and MSIX mapping.

Currently, an rx and a tx ring are always paired with a completion ring.
We want to restructure it so that it is possible to have a dedicated
completion ring for tx or rx only.
The bnxt hardware uses a completion ring for rx and tx events. The driver
has to process the completion ring entries sequentially for the rx and tx
events. Using a dedicated completion ring for rx only or tx only has these
benefits:
1. A burst of rx packets can cause delay in processing tx events if the
completion ring is shared. If tx queue is stopped by BQL, this can cause
delay in re-starting the tx queue.
2. A completion ring is sized according to the rx and tx ring size rounded
up to the nearest power of 2. When the completion ring is shared, it is
sized by adding the rx and tx ring sizes and then rounded to the next power
of 2, often with a lot of wasted space.
3. Using dedicated completion ring, we can adjust the tx and rx coalescing
parameters independently for rx and tx.
The first step is to separate the rx and tx ring structures from the
bnxt_napi struct.
In this patch, an rx ring and a tx ring will point to the same bnxt_napi
struct to share the same completion ring. No change in ring assignment
and mapping yet.

Newer firmware will return the ring group resource when we call
hwrm_func_qcaps(). To be compatible with older firmware, use the
number of tx rings as the number of ring groups if the older firmware
returns 0. When determining how many rx rings we can support, take
the ring group resource in account as well in _bnxt_get_max_rings().
Divide and assign the ring groups to VFs.

We need to keep track of all resources, such as rx rings, tx rings,
cmpl rings, rss contexts, stats contexts, vnics, after we have
divided them for the VFs. Otherwise, subsequent ring changes on
the PF may not work correctly.
We adjust all max resources in struct bnxt_pf_info after they have been
assigned to the VFs. There is no need to keep the separate
max_pf_tx_rings and max_pf_rx_rings.
When SR-IOV is disabled, we call bnxt_hwrm_func_qcaps() to restore the
max resources for the PF.

The hardware resources required to enable NTUPLE varies depending on
how many rx channels are configured. We need to make sure we have the
resources before we enable NTUPLE. Add bnxt_rfs_capable() to do the
checking.
In addition, we need to do the same checking in ndo_fix_features(). As
the rx channels are changed using ethtool -L, we call
netdev_update_features() to make the necessary adjustment for NTUPLE.
Calling netdev_update_features() in netif_running() state but before
calling bnxt_open_nic() would be a problem. To make this work,
bnxt_set_features() has to be modified to test for BNXT_STATE_OPEN for
the true hardware state instead of checking netif_running().

During remove_one, the driver should issue hwrm_func_drv_unrgtr
command to inform firmware that this function has been unloaded.
This is to let firmware keep track of driver present/absent state
when driver is gracefully unloaded. A keep alive timer is needed
later to keep track of driver state during abnormal shutdown.

FW has a rare corner case in which a fragmented packet using lots
of frags would not be linearized, causing the FW to assert while trying
to transmit the packet.
To prevent this, we need to make sure the window of fragements containing
MSS worth of data contains 1 BD less than for regular packets due to
the additional parsing BD.

The reset logic calls bnxt_close_nic() and bnxt_open_nic() under rtnl_lock
from bnxt_sp_task. BNXT_STATE_IN_SP_TASK must be cleared before calling
bnxt_close_nic() to avoid deadlock.

When implementing driver reset from tx_timeout in the next patch,
bnxt_close_nic() will be called from the sp_task workqueue. Calling
cancel_work() on sp_task will hang the workqueue.
Instead, set a new bit BNXT_STATE_IN_SP_TASK when bnxt_sp_task() is running.
bnxt_close_nic() will wait for BNXT_STATE_IN_SP_TASK to clear before
proceeding.

Under heavy TX load, bnx2x_poll() can loop forever and trigger
soft lockup bugs.
A napi poll handler must yield after one TX completion round,
risk of livelock is too high otherwise.
Bug is very easy to trigger using a debug build, and udp flood, because
of added cpu cycles in TX completion, and we do not receive enough
packets to break the loop.

The 'flags' field in bnx2x_stats_arr[] serves only one purpose - to tell
us if the statistic is a per-port stat and thus should not be shown for
virtual functions. It's strange that the field can have three different
values. A boolean will do just fine.
Also remove IS_FUNC_STAT(). It was used only once and it's in fact just
a negation of IS_PORT_STAT().

It's supposed to be impossible for TPA to give us anything else
than IPv4 or IPv6 here. But in case there is a way to reach this error
by some strange received frames, we don't want to flood the kernel log.
WARN_ONCE is better for this purpose.

Call bnxt_cfg_rx_mode() in bnxt_init_chip() to setup uc_list and
mc_list mac address filters. Before the patch, uc_list is not
setup again after chip reset (such as ethtool ring size change)
and macvlans don't work any more after that.
Modify bnxt_cfg_rx_mode() to return error codes appropriately so
that the init chip sequence can detect any failures.

For PF, the bp->pf.mac_addr always holds the permanent MAC
addr assigned by the HW. For VF, the bp->vf.mac_addr always
holds the administrator assigned VF MAC addr. The random
generated VF MAC addr should never get stored to bp->vf.mac_addr.
This way, when the VF wants to change the MAC address, we can tell
if the adminstrator has already set it and disallow the VF from
changing it.

The existing ndo_set_mac_address only copies the new MAC addr
and didn't set the new MAC addr to the HW. The correct way is
to delete the existing default MAC filter from HW and add
the new one. Because of RFS filters are also dependent on the
default mac filter l2 context, the driver must go thru
close_nic() to delete the default MAC and RFS filters, then
open_nic() to set the default MAC address to HW.

Commit 46e8a249423ff "bnx2x: Add FW 7.13.1.0" added said .bin FW to
linux-firmware; This patch incorporates the FW in the bnx2x driver.
This introduces 2 fixes/enhancements:
- In some management protocols there are outer-vlan configurations
that can be dynamically changed while device is running. This fixes
some corner cases where such a change did not take effect.
- Prevent VFs from sending MAC control frames; FW would treat a VF
sending such a packet as malicious and block any further communication
done by the VF.

Today, port statistics are being presented when using `ethool -S' only
for single-function devices, but there are some port statistics which are
crucial for analyzing bottle-necks. E.g., HW Rx discards due to lack of
buffer space [when device isn't handling ingress traffic fast enough].
Judging the pros and cons, it was decided that in-order to better support
automatic dump-gathering tools, bnx2x should no longer hide those stats.
This leaves only VFs lacking the port statistics.

Driver already has an internal counter for number of times a given queue
had to be stopped due to Tx ring exhaustion.
This add the counter to the statistics presented by driver, e.g., by using
`ethtool -S'.

NAPI drivers no longer need to observe a particular protocol
to benefit from busy polling (CONFIG_NET_RX_BUSY_POLL=y)
napi_hash_add() and napi_hash_del() are automatically called
from core networking stack, respectively from
netif_napi_add() and netif_napi_del()
This patch depends on free_netdev() and netif_napi_del() being
called from process context, which seems to be the norm.
Drivers might still prefer to call napi_hash_del() on their
own, since they might combine all the rcu grace periods into
a single one, knowing their NAPI structures lifetime, while
core networking stack has no idea of a possible combining.
Once this patch proves to not bring serious regressions,
we will cleanup drivers to either remove napi_hash_del()
or provide appropriate rcu grace periods combining.

netif_tx_napi_add() is a variant of netif_napi_add()
It should be used by drivers that use a napi structure
to exclusively poll TX.
We do not want to add this kind of napi in napi_hash[] in following
patches, adding generic busy polling to all NAPI drivers.

We would like to automatically provide busy polling support
to all NAPI drivers, without them having to implement anything.
skb_mark_napi_id() can be called from napi_gro_receive() and
napi_get_frags().
Few drivers are still calling skb_mark_napi_id() because
they use netif_receive_skb(). They should eventually call
napi_gro_receive() instead. I will leave this to drivers
maintainers.

a regression in regard for vlans for 57710, 57711 adapters -
Loading 8021q module on a machine with such an adapter would cause
a null pointer dereference, as the driver mistakenly publishes it

__GFP_WAIT has been used to identify atomic context in callers that hold
spinlocks or are in interrupts. They are expected to be high priority and
have access one of two watermarks lower than "min" which can be referred
to as the "atomic reserve". __GFP_HIGH users get access to the first
lower watermark and can be called the "high priority reserve".
Over time, callers had a requirement to not block when fallback options
were available. Some have abused __GFP_WAIT leading to a situation where
an optimisitic allocation with a fallback option can access atomic
reserves.
This patch uses __GFP_ATOMIC to identify callers that are truely atomic,
cannot sleep and have no alternative. High priority users continue to use
__GFP_HIGH. __GFP_DIRECT_RECLAIM identifies callers that can sleep and
are willing to enter direct reclaim. __GFP_KSWAPD_RECLAIM to identify
callers that want to wake kswapd for background reclaim. __GFP_WAIT is
redefined as a caller that is willing to enter direct reclaim and wake
kswapd for background reclaim.
This patch then converts a number of sites
o __GFP_ATOMIC is used by callers that are high priority and have memory
pools for those requests. GFP_ATOMIC uses this flag.
o Callers that have a limited mempool to guarantee forward progress clear
__GFP_DIRECT_RECLAIM but keep __GFP_KSWAPD_RECLAIM. bio allocations fall
into this category where kswapd will still be woken but atomic reserves
are not used as there is a one-entry mempool to guarantee progress.
o Callers that are checking if they are non-blocking should use the
helper gfpflags_allow_blocking() where possible. This is because
checking for __GFP_WAIT as was done historically now can trigger false
positives. Some exceptions like dm-crypt.c exist where the code intent
is clearer if __GFP_DIRECT_RECLAIM is used instead of the helper due to
flag manipulations.
o Callers that built their own GFP flags instead of starting with GFP_KERNEL
and friends now also need to specify __GFP_KSWAPD_RECLAIM.
The first key hazard to watch out for is callers that removed __GFP_WAIT
and was depending on access to atomic reserves for inconspicuous reasons.
In some cases it may be appropriate for them to use __GFP_HIGH.
The second key hazard is callers that assembled their own combination of
GFP flags instead of starting with something like GFP_KERNEL. They may
now wish to specify __GFP_KSWAPD_RECLAIM. It's almost certainly harmless
if it's missed in most cases as other activity will wake kswapd.

Instead of always calling pci_sriov_disable() in remove_one(),
the driver should detect whether VFs are currently assigned
to the VMs. If the VFs are active in VMs, then it should not
disable SRIOV as it is catastrophic to the VMs. Instead,
it just leaves the VFs alone and continues to unload the PF.
The user can then cleanup the VMs even after the PF driver
has been unloaded.

In order to use offset 0x4014 for reading CAG interrupt status,
the actual CAG register must be mapped to GRC bar0 window #4.
Otherwise, the driver is reading garbage. This patch corrects
this issue.

The profile ID in the completion record needs to be ANDed with the

VXLAN may be a loadable module, and this driver cannot be built-in
in that case, or we get a link error:

The EPHY on GENET v1->v3 is extremely finicky, and will show occasional
failures based on the timing and reset sequence, ranging from duplicate
packets, to extremely high latencies.
Perform an additional software reset, and re-configuration to make sure it is
in a consistent and working state.

bnxt_gro_skb() has unused variables when CONFIG_INET is not set. We
really cannot support hardware GRO if CONFIG_INET is not set, so
compile out bnxt_gro_skb() completely and define BNXT_FLAG_GRO to be 0
if CONFIG_INET is not set. This will effectively always disable
hardware GRO if CONFIG_INET is not set.

If a gigabit ethernet PHY is connected to a fast ethernet MAC,
then it can detect 1000 support from the partner but not use it.
This results in a forced speed of 1000 and RX/TX failure.
Check for 1000BASE-T support and then check the advertisement
configuration before setting the MAC speed to 1000mbit.

Link interrupts are enabled in init_umac(), which is too early for us to
process them since we do not yet have a valid PHY device pointer. On
BCM7425 chips for instance, we will crash calling phy_mac_interrupt()
because phydev is NULL.
Fix this by moving the link interrupts enabling in
bcmgenet_netif_start(), under a specific function:
bcmgenet_link_intr_enable() and while at it, update the comments
surrounding the code.

After a good amount of debugging, I found bnx2x was byte swaping
the 40 bytes of rss_key.
If we byte swap the key, then bnx2x generates hashes matching
MSDN specs as documented in (Verifying the RSS Hash Calculation)

It is mostly a non issue, unless we want to mix different NIC
in a host, and want consistent hashing among all of them, ie
if they all use the boot time generated rss key, or if some application
is choosing specific tuple(s) so that incoming traffic lands into known
rx queue(s).

Add support for the ethtool rx-frames coalescing parameter which allows
defining the number of RX interrupts per frames received. The RDMA
engine supports a configurable timeout with a resolution of
approximately 8.192 us.
We can no longer enable the BDONE/PDONE interrupts as those would
fire for each packet/buffer received, which would defeat the MBDONE
interrupt purpose. The MBDONE interrupt is guaranteed to correspond to a
PDONE/BDONE interrupt when the threshold is set to 1.

Configuring the ethtool tx-frames property, which translates into N
packets before a TX interrupt is the simplest configuration scheme
because it requires no locking neither at the softare nor hardware
level, and is completely indepedent from the link speed. Since ethtool
does not allow per-tx queue coalescing parameters, we apply the same
setting to any transmit queue.
We can no longer enable the BDONE/PDONE interrupts as those would fire
for each packet/buffer received, which would defeat the MBDONE interrupt
purpose. The MBDONE interrupt is guaranteed to correspond to a
PDONE/BDONE interrupt when the threshold is set to 1, but offers
interrupt coalescing when the value is > 1.
Since the HW is configured to generate an interrupt when the ring
becomes emtpy, we have to deny any timeout/timer settings coming from
user-space to indicate we can only generate an interrupt very <N>
packets.
While we are at it, fix the DMA_INTR_THRESHOLD_MASK value which was off
by one bit (0xff vs. 0x1ff).

commit c48f350ff5 "bnx2x: Add MFW dump support" added the
bnx2x_update_mfw_dump() function that reads the current time and stores
it in a 32-bit field that gets passed into a buffer in a fixed format.
This is potentially broken when the epoch overflows in 2038, and
otherwise overflows in 2106. As we're trying to avoid uses of
struct timeval for this reason, I noticed the addition of this
function, and tried to rewrite it in a way that is more explicit
about the overflow and that will keep working once we deprecate
struct timeval.
I assume that it is not possible to change the ABI any more, otherwise
we should try to use a 64-bit field for the seconds right away.

The temperature registers appear to report values in degrees Celsius
while the hwmon API mandates values to be exposed in millidegrees
Celsius. Do the conversion so that the values reported by "sensors"
are correct.

Broadcom buses may have more than 1 Ethernet device. This is used e.g.
to have few interfaces connected to different switch ports. So far we
saw chipsets with only 2 devices (e.g. BCM4706) but recent ones have
up to 3 (e.g. Netgear R8000 uses 3rd interface for most of switch
traffic, lower interfaces are for some kind of offloading).

Clean the dma flags of multiq ring buffer int the interface stop
process. This patch fixes that the genet is not running while the
interface is re-enabled.
$ ifup eth0 - running after booting
$ ifdown eth0
$ ifup eth0 - not running and occur tx_timeout
The bcmgenet_dma_disable() in bcmgenet_open() do clean ring16 dma flag
only. If the genet has multiq, the dma register is not cleaned. and
bcmgenet_init_dma() is not done correctly. in case
GENET_V2(tx_queues=4), tdma_ctrl has 0x1e after running
bcmgenet_dma_disable().

bcmgenet_timeout() executes in atomic context, yet we will invoke
napi_disable() which does sleep. Looking back at the changes, disabling
TX napi and re-enabling it is completely useless, since we reclaim all
TX buffers and re-enable interrupts, and wake up the TX queues.

Latest FW submission added some vxlan offload capabilities to our device.
This patch adds the ability to connect to the vxlan NDOs and configure
the UDP port associated with it in the HW.
The device would now be capable of performing RSS according to the
inner headers of the vxlan packets.

Management firmware tells driver in case bandwidth configuration for
a specific function exists, but [regretably] the same field has different
meanings depending on the multi-function mode - it can either be
a percentile value or an actual speed.
For newer multi-function modes current logic is incorrect -
driver understands values as actual speeds instead of percentages,
causing the resulting chip configuration to be incorrect.

Writing each 4Kb page into flash might take up-to ~100 miliseconds,
during which time management firmware cannot acces the nvram for its
own uses.
Firmware upgrade utility use the ethtool API to burn new flash images
for the device via the ethtool API, doing so by writing several page-worth
of data on each command. Such action might create problems for the
management firmware, as the nvram might not be accessible for a long time.
This patch changes the write implementation, releasing the nvram lock on
the completion of each page, allowing the management firmware time to
claim it and perform its own required actions.

Current driver always uses vlan-promisc mode, i.e., it receives both
tagged and untagged traffic and lets the network stack drop packets
tagged with unrequested vlan tags.
This patch implements vlan-filtering offload in the driver -
Unless explicitly configured to promisc mode, only untagged packets or
packets tagged with requested vlans would reach the Rx flow.

Commit 8d88c6ebb3 ("net: bcmgenet: enable MoCA link state change
detection") added a fixed PHY link_update callback for MoCA PHYs when
registered using platform_data exclusively, this change is also
applicable to systems using Device Tree as their primary configuration
interface.
In order for this to work, move the link_update assignment into
bcmgenet_moca_phy_setup() where we know for sure that we are running on
a MoCA GENET instance, and do not override phydev->link since this is:
- properly taken care of by the PHY library by getting the link UP/DOWN
interrupts
- this now runs everytime we call bcmgenet_open(), so we need to
preserve whatever we detected before we went administratively DOWN and
then UP
- we need to make sure that MoCA PHYs start with a link DOWN during
probe in order to force a link transition to occur
To avoid a forward declaration, move bcmgenet_fixed_phy_link_update()
above its caller.

Instead of multiplying the number of checks for IS_ERR(priv->clk),
simply NULLify the 'struct clk' pointer which is something the Linux
common clock framework perfectly deals with and does early return for
each and every single clk_* API functions.
Having every single function check for !IS_ERR(priv->clk) is both
redundant and error prone, as it turns out, we were doing it for the
main GENET clock: priv->clk, but not for the Wake-on-LAN or EEE clock,
so let's just be consistent here.

Devices with up-to-date management FW will be able to store register dumps
on their persistent storage - in case management FW identifies a fatal
error it would gather and store such dumps, which could later be retrieved
using specific debug tools.
This patch adds the necessary part in the driver in order to make the
feature operational, as well as update users [under debug] during load
in case their device contains a dump of a previous crash.

bnx2x still appears as a Broadcom driver even though the devices it
utilizes belong to Qlogic for more than a year.
This patch changes the various headers and the device strings to indicate
the correct ownership of the device.

This moves bnx2x into using 7.12.30 FW. Said firmware fixes the following:
- Packets from a VF with pvid configured which were sent with a
different vlan were transmitted instead of being discarded.
- FCoE traffic might not recover after a failue while there's traffic
to another function.
In addition, this FW opens the door for the driver to implement several
new features; Specifically, this enhances the device's support for
encapsulated packets and will allow vxlan/geneve offloads to be added in
the future, as well as vlan filtering offload.

This series contains updates to igb, ixgbe, ixgbevf, i40e, bnx2x,
freescale, siena and dp83640.
Jacob provides several patches to clarify the intended way to implement
both SIOCSHWTSTAMP and ethtool's get_ts_info(). It is okay to support
the specific filters in SIOCSHWTSTAMP by upscaling them to the generic
filters.
Alex Duyck provides a igb patch to pull the time stamp from the fragment
before it gets added to the skb, to avoid a possible issue in which the
fragment can possibly be less than IGB_RX_HDR_LEN due to the time stamp
being pulled after the copybreak check. Also provides a ixgbevf patch to
fold the ixgbevf_pull_tail() call into ixgbevf_add_rx_frag(), which gives
the advantage that the fragment does not have to be modified after it is
added to the skb.
Fan provides patches for ixgbe/ixgbevf to set the receive hash type
based on receive descriptor RSS type.
Todd provides a fix for igb where on check for link on any media other
than copper was not being detected since it was looking on the incorrect
PHY page (due to the page being used gets switched before the function
to check link gets executed).

Now that we have reworked the way we perform the PHY initialization, we
no longer need to differentiate between init time vs. non-init time
calls, just use a dev_info_once() print to print the PHY type.

We are currently doing a full PHY initialization and even starting the
pHY state machine during bcmgenet_mii_init() which is executed in the
driver's probe function. This is convenient to determine whether we can
attach to a proper PHY device but comes at the expense of spending up to
10ms per MDIO transactions (to reach the waitqueue timeout), which slows
things down.
This also creates a sitaution where we end-up attaching twice to the
PHY, which is not quite correct either.
Fix this by moving bcmgenet_mii_probe() into bcmgenet_open() and update
its error path accordingly.
Avoid printing the message "attached PHY at address 1 [...]" every time
we bring up/down the interface and remove this print since it duplicates
what the PHY driver already does for us.

Our internal GPHY might be powered off before we attempt scanning the
MDIO bus and bind a driver to it. The way we are currently determining
whether a PHY is internal or not is done *after* we have successfully
matched its driver. If the PHY is powered down, it will not respond to
the MDIO bus, so we will not be able to bind a driver to it.
Our Device Tree for GENET interfaces specifies a "phy-mode" value:
"internal" which tells if this internal uses an internal PHY or not.
If of_get_phy_mode() fails to parse the 'phy-mode' property, do an
additional manual lookup, and if we find "internal" set the
corresponding internal variable accordingly.
Replace all uses of phy_is_internal() with a check against
priv->internal_phy to avoid having to rely on whether or not
priv->phydev is set correctly.

We are currently disabling the GPHY interface during bcmgenet_close(),
and attempting to power it back on during bcmgenet_open(). This works
fine for the first time, because we called bcmgenet_mii_config() which
took care of enabling the interface, however, bcmgenet_power_up() really
needs to power on the GPHY for correctness.
This will be particularly important as we want to move
bcmgenet_mii_probe() down to bcmgenet_open() to avoid seeing the "PHY
already attached" message.

We are currently issuing multiple PHY resets during a suspend/resume,
first during bcmgenet_power_up() which does a hardware reset, then a
software reset by calling bcmgenet_mii_reset(). This is both unnecessary
and can take as long as 10ms per MDIO transactions while we re-apply
workarounds because we do not yet have MDIO interrupts enabled.
phy_resume() takes care of re-apply our workarounds in case we need any,
and bcmgenet_power_up() does a PHY hardware reset, all of this is more
than enough to guarantee that the PHY operates correctly.

Pass 1 parts had a number of significant erratas and were only available
in small numbers and under NDA. Full support also required the use of a
special toolchain that kept branches properly aligned. These workarounds
were never upstreamed and the only toolchain known to have them is
Montavista's GCC 3.0-based toolchain which completly obsoleted if not
useless these days.
So now that automated testing has tripped over the user of the
-msb1-pass1-workarounds option, rather than fixing it remove support for
pass 1 parts.
Probably nobody will notice. I seem to own the last know pass 1 board
and I haven't noticed another one in the wild in the past decade, at
least.

bcmgenet driver needs to separate packet drops from packet errors.
When the driver has to drop a *good* packet, due to lack of buffers or
replacement skbs, increment only dev->stats.[rx|tx]_dropped.
When the driver encounters a bad Rx packet or Tx error, increment only
dev->stats.[rx|tx]_errors + relevant detailed error counter.

All BCM7xxx integrated Gigabit PHYs have an issue in their MDIO
management controller which will make the initial read or write to them
to fail and return 0xffff. This is a real issue as the typical first
thing we do is read from MII_PHYSID1 and MII_PHYSID2 from get_phy_id()
to register a driver for these PHYs.
Coupled with the workaround in drivers/net/phy/bcm7xxx.c, this
workaround for the MDIO bus controller consists in scanning the list of
PHYs to do this initial read workaround for as part of the MDIO bus
reset routine which is invoked prior to mdiobus_scan().
Once we have a proper PHY driver/device registered, all workarounds are
located there (e.g: power management suspend/resume calls).

With CONFIG_DMA_API_DEBUG=y bnx2x triggers the error "DMA-API: device
driver frees DMA memory with wrong function".
On archs where PAGE_SIZE > SGE_PAGE_SIZE it also triggers "DMA-API:
device driver frees DMA memory with different size".
Fix this by making the mapping and unmapping symmetric:
- Do not map the whole pool page at once. Instead map the
SGE_PAGE_SIZE-sized pieces individually, so they can be unmapped in
the same manner.
- What's mapped using dma_map_page() must be unmapped using
dma_unmap_page().
Tested on ppc64.

Due to FW constraints, driver must make sure that transmitted SKBs will
not be too fragmented, or in the case that they are - that each 'window'
of fragments passed to the FW would contain at least an mss worth of data.
For encapsultaed packets the calculation is wrong, since it ignores the
inner headers in the calculation of the headers' length.
This could lead to a FW assertion in case of a too-fragmented encapsulated
packet.
