This patch changes the semantics of the duration calculation for an
ordinal, by masking out the higher bits of a tpm command, which specify
whether it's an TPM_PROTECTED_COMMAND, TPM_UNPROTECTED_COMMAND,
TPM_CONNECTION_COMMAND, TPM_CONNECTION_COMMAND, TPM_VENDOR_COMMAND.
(See TPM Main Spec Part 2 Section 17 for details).
For all TPM_PROTECTED and TPM_CONNECTION commands the results are
unchanged.
The TPM_UNPROTECTED commands are TSS commands and thus irrelevant as
they are not sent to the tpm.
For vendor commands the semantics change for ordinals 10 and 11 but
they were probably wrong anyway.
For everything else which has the ordinal set to 10 or 11 the semantics
change as it now uses TPM_UNDEFINED instead of TPM_SHORT which was
probably wrong anyway (but irrelevant as not defined by the standard).
This patch also gets rid of the (false positive) smatch warning:

Dan Carpenter noticed a missing set of parentheses
around a multiple field addition.
https://lkml.org/lkml/2013/1/27/166
His original commit message:
There is a kind of precedence problem here, but it doesn't affect how
the code works because ->serial_signals is unsigned char. We want to
clear two flags here.
#define SerialSignal_RTS 0x20 /* Request to Send */
#define SerialSignal_DTR 0x80 /* Data Terminal Ready */
Without the parenthesis then it does:
info->serial_signals &= 0x5f;
With the parenthesis it does:
info->serial_signals &= 0xffffff5f;
info->serial_signals is an unsigned char so the two statements are
equivalent, but it's cleaner to add the parenthesis. In other dtr_rts()
functions the parenthesis are there so this makes it more consistent.
Other changes:
Convert all + uses to | for these bit operations.
Reorder the multiple fields for consistency.
Update the comments too.

The second argument of ACPI driver .remove() operation is only used
by the ACPI processor driver and the value passed to that driver
through it is always available from the given struct acpi_device
object's removal_type field. For this reason, the second ACPI driver
.remove() argument is in fact useless, so drop it.

The reasoning behind our code taking two paths depending upon whether or
not we may have been configured for IOMMU isn't clear to me. It should
always be safe to use the pci mapping functions as they are designed to
abstract the decision we were handling in i915.
Aside from simpler code, removing another member for the intel_gtt

I ran this by Chris, and he wasn't concerned about the extra kzalloc,
and memory references vs. page_to_phys calculation in the case without

The option allows you to remove TTY and compile without errors. This
saves space on systems that won't support TTY interfaces anyway.
bloat-o-meter output is below.
The bulk of this patch consists of Kconfig changes adding "depends on
TTY" to various serial devices and similar drivers that require the TTY
layer. Ideally, these dependencies would occur on a common intermediate
symbol such as SERIO, but most drivers "select SERIO" rather than
"depends on SERIO", and "select" does not respect dependencies.
bloat-o-meter output comparing our previous minimal to new minimal by
removing TTY. The list is filtered to not show removed entries with awk

Here are more patches in the progression towards multiplatform, sparse
irq conversions in particular.
Tegra has a handful of cleanups and general groundwork, but is
not quite there yet on full enablement.
Platforms that are enabled through this branch are VT8500 and Zynq. note
that i.MX was converted in one of the earlier cleanup branches as
well (before we started a separate topic for multiplatform). And both
new platforms for this merge window, sunxi and bcm, were merged with
multiplatform support enabled.

Here's the large driver core updates for 3.8-rc1.
The biggest thing here is the various __dev* marking removals. This is
going to be a pain for the merge with different subsystem trees, I know,
but all of the patches included here have been ACKed by their various
subsystem maintainers, as they wanted them to go through here.
If this is too much of a pain, I can pull all of them out of this tree
and just send you one with the other fixes/updates and then, after
3.8-rc1 is out, do the rest of the removals to ensure we catch them all,
it's up to you. The merges should all be trivial, and Stephen has been
doing them all in linux-next for a few weeks now quite easily.
Other than the __dev* marking removals, there's nothing major here, some
firmware loading updates and other minor things in the driver core.
All of these have (much to Stephen's annoyance), been in linux-next for
a while.

Merge 'block-dev' branch.
I was going to just mark everything here for stable and leave it to the
3.8 merge window, but having decided on doing another -rc, I migth as
well merge it now.
This removes the bd_block_size_semaphore semaphore that was added in
this release to fix a race condition between block size changes and
block IO, and replaces it with atomicity guaratees in fs/buffer.c
instead, along with simplifying fs/block-dev.c.
This removes more lines than it adds, makes the code generally simpler,
and avoids the latency/rt issues that the block size semaphore
introduced for mount.
I'm not happy with the timing, but it wouldn't be much better doing this
during the merge window and then having some delayed back-port of it
into stable.
* block-dev:
blkdev_max_block: make private to fs/buffer.c
direct-io: don't read inode->i_blkbits multiple times
blockdev: remove bd_block_size_semaphore again
fs/buffer.c: make block-size be per-page and protected by the page lock
This reverts the block-device direct access code to the previous
unlocked code, now that fs/buffer.c no longer needs external locking.
With this, fs/block_dev.c is back to the original version, apart from a
whitespace cleanup that I didn't want to revert.

After commit "TTY: move tty buffers to tty_port", the tty buffers are
not freed in some drivers. This is because tty_port_destructor is not
called whenever a tty_port is freed. This was an assumption I counted
with but was unfortunately untrue. So fix the drivers to fulfil this
assumption.
To be sure, the TTY buffers (and later some stuff) are gone along with
the tty_port, we have to call tty_port_destroy at tear-down places.
This is mostly where the structure containing a tty_port is freed.
This patch does exactly that -- put tty_port_destroy at those places.

As a quick hack we make the old intel_gtt structure mutable so we can
fool a bunch of the existing code which depends on elements in that data
structure. We can/should try to remove this in a subsequent patch.
This should preserve the old gtt init behavior which upon writing these
patches seems incorrect. The next patch will fix these things.
The one exception is VLV which doesn't have the preserved flush control
write behavior. Since we want to do that for all GEN6+ stuff, we'll
handle that in a later patch. Mainstream VLV support doesn't actually
exist yet anyway.

then pass along the value after that to the requester, so that consistency

This moves the MTU timer driver from arch/arm/plat-nomadik
to drivers/clocksource and moves the header file to the
platform_data directory.
As this moves the last file being compiled to an object out
of arch/arm/plat-nomadik, we have to "turn off the light"
and delete the plat-nomadik directory, because it is not
allowed to have an empty Makefile in a plat-* directory.
This is probably also a desired side effect of depopulating
the arch/arm directory of drivers. Luckily we have just
deleted all the <plat/*> include files prior to this so
by moving the last one we may delete the directory.
After this all the Ux500 and Nomadik device drivers live
outside of the arch/arm hierarchy.

The module parameter that turns debugging mode (which basically means
printing a few extra lines during runtime) is in '#if 0' block. Forcing
everyone who would like to see how entropy is behaving on his system to
rebuild seems to be a little bit too harsh.
If we were concerned about speed, we could potentially turn 'debug' into a
static key, but I don't think it's necessary.
Drop the '#if 0' block to allow using the 'debug' parameter without rebuilding.

Drivers should not use cpu_is_omap or cpu_class_is_omap macros,
they should be private to the platform init code. And we'll be
removing plat/cpu.h and only have a private soc.h for the
arch/arm/*omap* code.
This patch is intended as preparation for the core omap changes
and removes the need to include plat/cpu.h from several drivers.
This is needed for the ARM common zImage support.
These changes are OK to do because:
- omap-rng.c does not need plat/cpu.h
- omap-aes.c and omap-sham.c get the proper platform_data
passed to them so they don't need extra checks in the driver
- omap-dma.c and omap-pcm.c can test the arch locally as
omap1 and omap2 cannot be compiled together because of
conflicting compiler flags

tpm_write calls tpm_transmit without checking the return value and
assigns the return value unconditionally to chip->pending_data, even if
it's an error value.
This causes three bugs.
So if we write to /dev/tpm0 with a tpm_param_size bigger than
TPM_BUFSIZE=0x1000 (e.g. 0x100a)
and a bufsize also bigger than TPM_BUFSIZE (e.g. 0x100a)
tpm_transmit returns -E2BIG which is assigned to chip->pending_data as
-7, but tpm_write returns that TPM_BUFSIZE bytes have been successfully
been written to the TPM, altough this is not true (bug #1).
As we did write more than than TPM_BUFSIZE bytes but tpm_write reports
that only TPM_BUFSIZE bytes have been written the vfs tries to write
the remaining bytes (in this case 10 bytes) to the tpm device driver via
tpm_write which then blocks at
/* cannot perform a write until the read has cleared
either via tpm_read or a user_read_timer timeout */
while (atomic_read(&chip->data_pending) != 0)
msleep(TPM_TIMEOUT);
for 60 seconds, since data_pending is -7 and nobody is able to
read it (since tpm_read luckily checks if data_pending is greater than
0) (#bug 2).
After that the remaining bytes are written to the TPM which are
interpreted by the tpm as a normal command. (bug #3)
So if the last bytes of the command stream happen to be a e.g.
tpm_force_clear this gets accidentally sent to the TPM.
This patch fixes all three bugs, by propagating the error code of
tpm_write and returning -E2BIG if the input buffer is too big,
since the response from the tpm for a truncated value is bogus anyway.
Moreover it returns -EBUSY to userspace if there is a response ready to be
read.

This patch try to fix the S3 regression https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/5/433,
which includes below line:
[ 1554.684638] sysfs: cannot create duplicate filename '/devices/pnp0/00:0c/ppi'
The root cause is that ppi sysfs teardown code is MIA, so while S3 resume,
the ppi kobject will be created again upon existing one.
To make the tear down code simple, change the ppi subfolder creation from
using kobject_create_and_add to just using a named ppi attribute_group. Then
ppi sysfs teardown could be done with a simple sysfs_remove_group call.
Adjusted the name & return type for ppi sysfs init function.

A long time ago, in v2.4, VM_RESERVED kept swapout process off VMA,
currently it lost original meaning but still has some effects:
| effect | alternative flags
-+------------------------+---------------------------------------------
1| account as reserved_vm | VM_IO
2| skip in core dump | VM_IO, VM_DONTDUMP
3| do not merge or expand | VM_IO, VM_DONTEXPAND, VM_HUGETLB, VM_PFNMAP
4| do not mlock | VM_IO, VM_DONTEXPAND, VM_HUGETLB, VM_PFNMAP
This patch removes reserved_vm counter from mm_struct. Seems like nobody
cares about it, it does not exported into userspace directly, it only
reduces total_vm showed in proc.
Thus VM_RESERVED can be replaced with VM_IO or pair VM_DONTEXPAND | VM_DONTDUMP.
remap_pfn_range() and io_remap_pfn_range() set VM_IO|VM_DONTEXPAND|VM_DONTDUMP.
remap_vmalloc_range() set VM_DONTEXPAND | VM_DONTDUMP.

This branch contains updates to OMAP and Marvell platforms (kirkwood,
dove, mvebu) that came in after we had done the big multiplatform merges,
so they were kept separate from the rest, and not separated into the
traditional topics of cleanup/driver/platform features.
For OMAP, the updates are:
- Runtime PM conversions for the GPMC and RNG IP blocks
- Preparation patches for the OMAP common clock framework conversion
- clkdev alias additions required by other drivers
- Performance Monitoring Unit (PMU) support for OMAP2, 3, and non-4430 OMAP4
- OMAP hwmod code and data improvements
- Preparation patches for the IOMMU runtime PM conversion
- Preparation patches for OMAP4 full-chip retention support
For Kirkwood/Dove/mvebu:
- New driver for "address decoder controller" for mvebu, which
is a piece of hardware that configures addressable devices and
peripherals. First user is the boot rom aperture on armada XP since
it is needed for SMP support.
- New device tree bindings for peripherals such as gpio-fan, iconnect
nand, mv_cesa and the above address decoder controller.
- Some defconfig updates, mostly to enable new DT boards and a few drivers.
- New drivers using the pincontrol subsystem for dove, kirkwood and mvebu
- New clean gpio driver for mvebu

"So first of all my tree and uapi stuff has a conflict mess, its my

Highlights:
- SH mobile modesetting driver and associated helpers
- some DRM core documentation
- i915 modesetting rework, haswell hdmi, haswell and vlv fixes, write

- nouveau: major driver rework into a hw core driver, makes features

- psb: add eDP/DP support for Cedarview
- radeon: 2 layer page tables, async VM pte updates, better PLL

The rest is general grab bag of fixes.
So why part 1? well I have the exynos pull req which came in a bit
late but was waiting for me to do something they shouldn't have and it
looks fairly safe, and David Howells has some more header cleanups
he'd like me to pull, that seem like a good idea, but I'd like to get

Pull workqueue changes from Tejun Heo:
"This is workqueue updates for v3.7-rc1. A lot of activities this
round including considerable API and behavior cleanups.
* delayed_work combines a timer and a work item. The handling of the
timer part has always been a bit clunky leading to confusing
cancelation API with weird corner-case behaviors. delayed_work is
updated to use new IRQ safe timer and cancelation now works as
expected.
* Another deficiency of delayed_work was lack of the counterpart of
mod_timer() which led to cancel+queue combinations or open-coded
timer+work usages. mod_delayed_work[_on]() are added.
These two delayed_work changes make delayed_work provide interface
and behave like timer which is executed with process context.
* A work item could be executed concurrently on multiple CPUs, which
is rather unintuitive and made flush_work() behavior confusing and
half-broken under certain circumstances. This problem doesn't
exist for non-reentrant workqueues. While non-reentrancy check
isn't free, the overhead is incurred only when a work item bounces
across different CPUs and even in simulated pathological scenario
the overhead isn't too high.
All workqueues are made non-reentrant. This removes the
distinction between flush_[delayed_]work() and
flush_[delayed_]_work_sync(). The former is now as strong as the
latter and the specified work item is guaranteed to have finished
execution of any previous queueing on return.
* In addition to the various bug fixes, Lai redid and simplified CPU
hotplug handling significantly.
* Joonsoo introduced system_highpri_wq and used it during CPU
hotplug.
There are two merge commits - one to pull in IRQ safe timer from
tip/timers/core and the other to pull in CPU hotplug fixes from
wq/for-3.6-fixes as Lai's hotplug restructuring depended on them."
Fixed a number of trivial conflicts, but the more interesting conflicts
were silent ones where the deprecated interfaces had been used by new
code in the merge window, and thus didn't cause any real data conflicts.
Tejun pointed out a few of them, I fixed a couple more.

The kernel may crash when block size is changed and I/O is issued
simultaneously.
Because some subsystems (udev or lvm) may read any block device anytime,
the bug actually puts any code that changes a block device size in
jeopardy.
The crash can be reproduced if you place "msleep(1000)" to
blkdev_get_blocks just before "bh->b_size = max_blocks <<
inode->i_blkbits;".
Then, run "dd if=/dev/ram0 of=/dev/null bs=4k count=1 iflag=direct"
While it is waiting in msleep, run "blockdev --setbsz 2048 /dev/ram0"
You get a BUG.
The direct and non-direct I/O is written with the assumption that block
size does not change. It doesn't seem practical to fix these crashes
one-by-one there may be many crash possibilities when block size changes
at a certain place and it is impossible to find them all and verify the
code.
This patch introduces a new rw-lock bd_block_size_semaphore. The lock is
taken for read during I/O. It is taken for write when changing block
size. Consequently, block size can't be changed while I/O is being
submitted.
For asynchronous I/O, the patch only prevents block size change while
the I/O is being submitted. The block size can change when the I/O is in
progress or when the I/O is being finished. This is acceptable because
there are no accesses to block size when asynchronous I/O is being
finished.
The patch prevents block size changing while the device is mapped with
mmap.

Remove the SoC restriction code from the OMAP RNG driver. The
integration code in arch/arm/*omap* should handle this. The device
shouldn't be created if it doesn't exist on the currently-booted SoC.
This allows us to remove some OMAP-specific cpu_is_omap*() calls from

Rewriting the PTE entries using an WC mapping is roughly an order of
magnitude faster than through the uncached mapping. This makes an
observable difference on workloads that cycle through large numbers of
buffers, for example Chromium using ShmPixmaps where virtually all the
CPU time is currently spent rebinding the userptr.
v2: Limit the WC mapping to older generations as we have observed that

Rather than have multiple data structures for describing our page layout
in conjunction with the array of pages, we can migrate all users over to
a scatterlist.
One major advantage, other than unifying the page tracking structures,
this offers is that we replace the vmalloc'ed array (which can be up to
a megabyte in size) with a chain of individual pages which helps reduce
memory pressure.
The disadvantage is that we then do not have a simple array to iterate,
or to access randomly. The common case for this is in the relocation
processing, which will typically fit within a single scatterlist page
and so be almost the same cost as the simple array. For iterating over
the array, the extra function call could be optimised away, but in
reality is an insignificant cost of either binding the pages, or
performing the pwrite/pread.

trivial compile error from rebasing.

In drivers/char/tpm/tpm_acpi.c::read_log() we call
acpi_os_map_memory(). That call may fail for a number of reasons
(invalid address, out of memory etc). If the call fails it returns
NULL and we just pass that to memcpy() unconditionally, which will go
bad when it tries to dereference the pointer.
Unfortunately we just get NULL back, so we can't really tell the user
exactely what went wrong, but we can at least avoid crashing and
return an error (-EIO seemed more generic and more suitable here than
-ENOMEM or something else, so I picked that).

which follow the TGC TIS 1.2 TPM specification[1] and Infineon's I2C Protocol

The I2C Protocol Stack Specification is a simple adaption of the LPC TIS

flush[_delayed]_work_sync() are now spurious. Mark them deprecated
and convert all users to flush[_delayed]_work().
If you're cc'd and wondering what's going on: Now all workqueues are
non-reentrant and the regular flushes guarantee that the work item is
not pending or running on any CPU on return, so there's no reason to
use the sync flushes at all and they're going away.
This patch doesn't make any functional difference.

This allows us to provide the tty layer with information about
tty_port for each link. And it also allows us to get rid of the
remove_device loop in synclink_cs_exit because we had to reorder
pcmcia and tty driver registration in init. This was because we need
to have serial_driver initialized when calling
tty_port_register_device from pcmcia ->probe.

We will need to change the order of tty and pcmcia drivers
initializations (see the reason later in this series). And the fail
path handling is currently performed in a separate function that as
well takes care of proper deinitialization in module_exit. It is hard
to read and will need to be adjusted by our changes anyway. Instead,
get rid of this helper function and do the fail paths handling
directly in the init function. (And move the body of the function to
module_exit.)

This allows drivers like ttyprintk to avoid hacks to create an
unnumbered node in /dev. It used to set TTY_DRIVER_DYNAMIC_DEV in

From Bryan Wu <bryan.wu@canonical.com>:
Based on Linus Walleij's ARM LED consolidation work, this patchset introduce a
new generic led trigger for CPU not only for ARM but also for others.
For enabling CPU idle event, CPU arch code should call ledtrig_cpu() stub to
trigger idle start or idle end event.
These patches convert old style LED driver in arch/arm to gpio_led or new led
driver interface. Against 3.5 release and build successfully for all the machines.
Test ledtrig-cpu driver on OMAP4 Panda board.
v9 --> v10
* fix compiling issue on versatile_defconfig reported by Russell King
* rebase to 3.5 kernel and move patches to new git tree
v8 --> v9:
* use mutex to replace rw_sema pointed out by Tim Gardner
* add a new struct led_trigger_cpu
* add lock_is_inited to record mutex lock initialization
v6 --> v7:
* add a patch to unify the led-trigger name
* fix some typo pointed
* use BUG_ON to detect CPU numbers during building stage
v5 --> v6:
* replace __get_cpu_var() to per_cpu()
* remove smp_processor_id() which is wrong with for_each_possible_cpu()
* test on real OMAP4 Panda board
* add comments about CPU hotplug in the CPU LED trigger driver
v4 --> v5:
* rebase all the patches on top of latest linux-next
* replace on_each_cpu() with for_each_possible_cpu()
* add some description of ledtrig_cpu() API
* remove old leds code from driver nwflash.c, which should use a new led trigger then
* this trigger driver can be built as module now
v3 --> v4:
* fix a typo pointed by Jochen Friedrich
* fix some building errors
* add Reviewed-by and Tested-by into patch log
v2 --> v3:
* almost rewrote the whole ledtrig-cpu driver, which is more simple
* every CPU will have a per-CPU trigger
* cpu trigger can be assigned to any leds
* fix a lockdep issue in led-trigger common code
* other fix according to review
v1 --> v2:
* remove select operations in Kconfig of every machines
* add back supporting of led in core module of mach-integrator
* solidate name scheme in ledtrig-cpu.c
* add comments of CPU_LED_* cpu led events
* fold patches of RealView and Versatile together
* add machine_is_ check during assabet led driver init
* add some Acked-by in patch logs
* remove code for simpad machine in machine-sa11000, since Jochen Friedrich
introduced gpiolib and gpio-led driver for simpad
* on Assabet and Netwinder machine, LED operations is reversed like:
setting bit means turn off leds
clearing bit means turn on leds

net/core/sock.c:274:36: error: (near initialization for 'memalloc_socks')
net/core/sock.c:274:36: error: initializer element is not constant
This is identical to a parisc build error. Fengguang Wu, Mel Gorman
and James Bottomley did all the legwork to track the root cause of
the problem. This fix and entire commit log is shamelessly copied
from them with one extra detail to change a dubious runtime use of
ATOMIC_INIT() to atomic_set() in drivers/char/mspec.c
Dave Anglin says:
> Here is the line in sock.i:
>
> struct static_key memalloc_socks = ((struct static_key) { .enabled =
> ((atomic_t) { (0) }) });
The above line contains two compound literals. It also uses a designated
initializer to initialize the field enabled. A compound literal is not a
constant expression.
The location of the above statement isn't fully clear, but if a compound
literal occurs outside the body of a function, the initializer list must
consist of constant expressions.

Many platforms have per-machine instance data (serial numbers,
asset tags, etc.) squirreled away in areas that are accessed
during early system bringup. Mixing this data into the random
pools has a very high value in providing better random data,
so we should allow (and even encourage) architecture code to
call add_device_randomness() from the setup_arch() paths.
However, this limits our options for internal structure of
the random driver since random_initialize() is not called
until long after setup_arch().
Add a big fat comment to rand_initialize() spelling out
this requirement.

Create a new function, get_random_bytes_arch() which will use the
architecture-specific hardware random number generator if it is
present. Change get_random_bytes() to not use the HW RNG, even if it
is avaiable.
The reason for this is that the hw random number generator is fast (if
it is present), but it requires that we trust the hardware
manufacturer to have not put in a back door. (For example, an
increasing counter encrypted by an AES key known to the NSA.)
It's unlikely that Intel (for example) was paid off by the US
Government to do this, but it's impossible for them to prove otherwise
--- especially since Bull Mountain is documented to use AES as a
whitener. Hence, the output of an evil, trojan-horse version of
RDRAND is statistically indistinguishable from an RDRAND implemented
to the specifications claimed by Intel. Short of using a tunnelling
electronic microscope to reverse engineer an Ivy Bridge chip and
disassembling and analyzing the CPU microcode, there's no way for us
to tell for sure.
Since users of get_random_bytes() in the Linux kernel need to be able
to support hardware systems where the HW RNG is not present, most
time-sensitive users of this interface have already created their own
cryptographic RNG interface which uses get_random_bytes() as a seed.
So it's much better to use the HW RNG to improve the existing random
number generator, by mixing in any entropy returned by the HW RNG into
/dev/random's entropy pool, but to always _use_ /dev/random's entropy
pool.
This way we get almost of the benefits of the HW RNG without any
potential liabilities. The only benefits we forgo is the
speed/performance enhancements --- and generic kernel code can't
depend on depend on get_random_bytes() having the speed of a HW RNG
anyway.
For those places that really want access to the arch-specific HW RNG,
if it is available, we provide get_random_bytes_arch().

If the CPU supports a hardware random number generator, use it in
xfer_secondary_pool(), where it will significantly improve things and
where we can afford it.
Also, remove the use of the arch-specific rng in
add_timer_randomness(), since the call is significantly slower than
get_cycles(), and we're much better off using it in
xfer_secondary_pool() anyway.

Add a new interface, add_device_randomness() for adding data to the
random pool that is likely to differ between two devices (or possibly
even per boot). This would be things like MAC addresses or serial
numbers, or the read-out of the RTC. This does *not* add any actual
entropy to the pool, but it initializes the pool to different values
for devices that might otherwise be identical and have very little
entropy available to them (particularly common in the embedded world).

The real-time Linux folks don't like add_interrupt_randomness() taking
a spinlock since it is called in the low-level interrupt routine.
This also allows us to reduce the overhead in the fast path, for the
random driver, which is the interrupt collection path.
Signed-off-by: "Theodore Ts'o" <tytso@mit.edu>
Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org
We've been moving away from add_interrupt_randomness() for various
reasons: it's too expensive to do on every interrupt, and flooding the
CPU with interrupts could theoretically cause bogus floods of entropy
from a somewhat externally controllable source.
This solves both problems by limiting the actual randomness addition
to just once a second or after 64 interrupts, whicever comes first.
During that time, the interrupt cycle data is buffered up in a per-cpu
pool. Also, we make sure the the nonblocking pool used by urandom is
initialized before we start feeding the normal input pool. This
assures that /dev/urandom is returning unpredictable data as soon as
possible.

Merge tag 'v3.5-rc4' into drm-intel-next-queued
I want to merge the "no more fake agp on gen6+" patches into
drm-intel-next (well, the last pieces). But a patch in 3.5-rc4 also
adds a new use of dev->agp. Hence the backmarge to sort this out, for
otherwise drm-intel-next merged into Linus' tree would conflict in the
relevant code, things would compile but nicely OOPS at driver load :(
Conflicts in this merge are just simple cases of "both branches
changed/added lines at the same place". The only tricky part is to
keep the order correct wrt the unwind code in case of errors in
intel_ringbuffer.c (and the MI_DISPLAY_FLIP #defines in i915_reg.h
together, obviously).

The PTE format is similar to SNB, but we don't support an MLC and don't
need chipset flushing.
Note: I have my questions whether this is right, given that MLC died
for snb & ivb, that ivb has grown a L3$ cache instead (which vlv seems
to have, too) and that the LLC bit here isn't actually LLC, but just
means 'snoop cpu caches'.

tpm_do_selftest() attempts to read a PCR in order to
decide if one can rely on the TPM being used or not.
The function that's used by __tpm_pcr_read() does not
expect the TPM to be disabled or deactivated, and if so,
reports an error.
It's fine if the TPM returns this error when trying to
use it for the first time after a power cycle, but it's
definitely not if it already returned success for a
previous attempt to read one of its PCRs.
The tpm_do_selftest() was modified so that the driver only
reports this return code as an error when it really is.

avoid setting up the fake-agp driver we need to prepare a few things:
- pass both the bridge and gpu pci_dev to the probe function and add
code to handle the gpu pdev both being present (for drm/i915) and

- add refcounting to the remove function so that unloading drm/i915

they've got correct acks except one trivial fixup.
- Core:
edid parser has better DMT and reduced blanking support,
crtc properties,

- Drivers:
exynos: add 2D core accel support, prime support, hdmi features
intel: more Haswell support, initial Valleyview support, more
hdmi infoframe fixes, update MAINTAINERS for Daniel, lots of
cleanups and fixes
radeon: more HDMI audio support, improved GPU lockup recovery
support, remove nested mutexes, less memory copying on PCIE, fix

gma500: cleanups, 1080p support, acpi fixes
nouveau: better nva3 memory reclocking, kepler accel (needs

I've some more dma-buf patches that rely on the dma-buf merge for vmap

interdependancies on the driver core:
- hyperv driver updates
- drivers/memory being created and some drivers moved into it
- extcon driver subsystem created out of the old Android staging
switch driver code
- dynamic debug updates
- printk rework, and /dev/kmsg changes
All of this has been tested in the linux-next releases for a few weeks
with no reported problems.

If a port was open before going into one of the sleep states, the port
can continue normal operation after restore. However, the host has to
be told that the guest side of the connection is open to restore
pre-suspend state.
This wasn't noticed so far due to a bug in qemu that was fixed recently
(which marked the guest-side connection as always open).

Since ramoops was converted to pstore, it has nothing to do with character
devices nowadays. Instead, today it is just a RAM backend for pstore.
The patch just moves things around. There are a few changes were needed
because of the move:
1. Kconfig and Makefiles fixups, of course.
2. In pstore/ram.c we have to play a bit with MODULE_PARAM_PREFIX, this
is needed to keep user experience the same as with ramoops driver
(i.e. so that ramoops.foo kernel command line arguments would still
work).

Instead of using /dev/mem directly and forcing userspace to know (or
extract) where the platform has defined persistent memory, how many slots
it has, the sizes, etc, use the common pstore infrastructure to handle
Oops gathering and extraction. This presents a much easier to use
filesystem-based view to the memory region. This also means that any
other tools that are written to understand pstore will automatically be
able to process ramoops too.

Support for multiple concurrent readers of /dev/kmsg, with read(),
seek(), poll() support. Output of message sequence numbers, to allow
userspace log consumers to reliably reconnect and reconstruct their
state at any given time. After open("/dev/kmsg"), read() always
returns *all* buffered records. If only future messages should be
read, SEEK_END can be used. In case records get overwritten while
/dev/kmsg is held open, or records get faster overwritten than they
are read, the next read() will return -EPIPE and the current reading
position gets updated to the next available record. The passed
sequence numbers allow the log consumer to calculate the amount of
lost messages.

- Record-based stream instead of the traditional byte stream
buffer. All records carry a 64 bit timestamp, the syslog facility
and priority in the record header.
- Records consume almost the same amount, sometimes less memory than
the traditional byte stream buffer (if printk_time is enabled). The record
header is 16 bytes long, plus some padding bytes at the end if needed.
The byte-stream buffer needed 3 chars for the syslog prefix, 15 char for
the timestamp and a newline.
- Buffer management is based on message sequence numbers. When records
need to be discarded, the reading heads move on to the next full
record. Unlike the byte-stream buffer, no old logged lines get
truncated or partly overwritten by new ones. Sequence numbers also
allow consumers of the log stream to get notified if any message in
the stream they are about to read gets discarded during the time
of reading.
- Better buffered IO support for KERN_CONT continuation lines, when printk()
is called multiple times for a single line. The use of KERN_CONT is now
mandatory to use continuation; a few places in the kernel need trivial fixes
here. The buffering could possibly be extended to per-cpu variables to allow
better thread-safety for multiple printk() invocations for a single line.
- Full-featured syslog facility value support. Different facilities
can tag their messages. All userspace-injected messages enforce a
facility value > 0 now, to be able to reliably distinguish them from
the kernel-generated messages. Independent subsystems like a
baseband processor running its own firmware, or a kernel-related
userspace process can use their own unique facility values. Multiple
independent log streams can co-exist that way in the same
buffer. All share the same global sequence number counter to ensure
proper ordering (and interleaving) and to allow the consumers of the
log to reliably correlate the events from different facilities.

A new drm-intel-next pull. Highlights:
- More gmbus patches from Daniel Kurtz, I think gmbus is now ready, all
known issues fixed.
- Fencing cleanup and pipelined fencing removal from Chris.
- rc6 residency interface from Ben, useful for powertop.
- Cleanups and code reorg around the ringbuffer code (Ben&me).
- Use hw semaphores in the pageflip code from Ben.
- More vlv stuff from Jesse, unfortunately his vlv cpu is doa, so less
merged than I've hoped for - we still have the unused function warning :(
- More hsw patches from Eugeni, again, not yet enabled fully.
- intel_pm.c refactoring from Eugeni.
- Ironlake sprite support from Chris.
- And various smaller improvements/fixes all over the place.
Note that this pull request also contains a backmerge of -rc3 to sort out
a few things in -next. I've also had to frob the shortlog a bit to exclude
anything that -rc3 brings in with this pull.
Regression wise we have a few strange bugs going on, but for all of them
closer inspection revealed that they've been pre-existing, just now
slightly more likely to be hit. And for most of them we have a patch
already. Otherwise QA has not reported any regressions, and I'm also not
aware of anything bad happening in 3.4.

/proc/sys/kernel/random/boot_id can be read concurrently by userspace
processes. If two (or more) user-space processes concurrently read
boot_id when sysctl_bootid is not yet assigned, a race can occur making
boot_id differ between the reads. Because the whole point of the boot id
is to be unique across a kernel execution, fix this by protecting this

Given that this operation is not frequently used, hitting the spinlock
