dt-bindings: fsl: rcpm: Add 'little-endian' and update Chassis definition
By default, QorIQ SoC's RCPM register block is Big Endian. But there are some exceptions, such as LS1088A and LS2088A, are Little Endian. So add this optional property to help identify them. Actually LS2021A and other Layerscapes won't totally follow Chassis 2.1, so separate them from powerpc SoC. TISCI protocol supports for enabling the device either with exclusive permissions for the requesting host or with sharing across the hosts. There are certain devices which are exclusive to Linux context and there are certain devices that are shared across different host contexts. soc: qcom: apr: Don't use reg for domain id
The reg property represents the address and size on the bus that a device lives, but for APR the parent is a rpmsg bus, which does not have numerical addresses. Simply defining #address/#size-cells to 1 and 0, respectively, to silence the compiler is not an appropriate solution. Replace the use of "reg" with an APR specific property. Reading table 4-30, and its footnotes, of the QUICC Engine Block Reference Manual shows that the set of snum _values_ is not necessarily just a function of the _number_ of snums, as given in the fsl,qe-num-snums property. As an alternative, to make it easier to add support for other variants of the QUICC engine IP, this introduces a new binding fsl,qe-snums, which automatically encodes both the number of snums and the actual values to use. dt-bindings: soc: amlogic: canvas: document support for Meson8/8b/8m2
The canvas IP on Meson8, Meson8b and Meson8m2 is similar to the one found on GXBB and newer. The only known difference is that the older SoCs cannot configure the "endianness". Add a compatible string for each of the older SoCs to make sure we won't be using unsupported features on these SoCs. ARM: Device-tree updates
As usual, this is where the bulk of our changes end up landing each merge window. The individual updates are too many to enumerate, many many platforms have seen additions of device descriptions such that they are functionally more complete (in fact, this is often the bulk of updates we see). The most noteworthy SoC driver changes this time include: - The TEE subsystem gains an in-kernel interface to access the TEE from device drivers. - The reset controller subsystem gains a driver for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Power Domain Controller. - The Xilinx Zynq platform now has a firmware interface for its platform management unit. ARM: SoC device tree updates for 4.20
There are close to 800 indivudal changesets in this branch again, which feels like a lot. There are particularly many changes for the NVIDIA Tegra platform this time, in fact more than it has seen in the two years since the v4.9 merge window. Aside from this, it's been fairly normal, with lots of changes going into Renesas R-CAR, NXP i.MX, Allwinner Sunxi, Samsung Exynos, and TI OMAP. Most of the changes are for adding new features into existing boards, for brevity I'm only mentioning completely new machines and SoCs here. For the first time I think we have (slightly) more new 64-bit hardware than 32-bit: Two boards get added for TI OMAP: Moxa UC-2101 is an industrial computer, see https://www.moxa.com/product/UC-2100.htm; GTA04A5 is a minor variation of the motherboards of the GTA04 phone, see https://shop.goldelico.com/wiki.php?page=GTA04A5 Clearfog is a nice little board for quad-core Marvell Armada 8040 network processor, see https://www.solid-run.com/marvell-armada-family/clearfog-gt-8k/ Two additional server boards come with the Aspeed baseboard management controllers: Stardragon4800 is an arm64 reference platform made by HXT (based on Qualcomm's server chips), and TiogaPass is an Open Compute mainboard with x86 CPUs. Both use the ARM11 based AST2500 chips in the BMC. NXP i.MX usually sees a lot of new boards each release. This time there we only add one minor variant: ConnectCore 6UL SBC Pro uses the same SoM design as the ConnectCore 6UL SBC Express added later.
