Dr. Greg Wettstein e487a0f523 tpm: Restore functionality to xen vtpm driver.
Functionality of the xen-tpmfront driver was lost secondary to
the introduction of xenbus multi-page support in commit ccc9d90a9a
("xenbus_client: Extend interface to support multi-page ring").

In this commit pointer to location of where the shared page address
is stored was being passed to the xenbus_grant_ring() function rather
then the address of the shared page itself. This resulted in a situation
where the driver would attach to the vtpm-stubdom but any attempt
to send a command to the stub domain would timeout.

A diagnostic finding for this regression is the following error
message being generated when the xen-tpmfront driver probes for a
device:

<3>vtpm vtpm-0: tpm_transmit: tpm_send: error -62

<3>vtpm vtpm-0: A TPM error (-62) occurred attempting to determine
the timeouts

This fix is relevant to all kernels from 4.1 forward which is the
release in which multi-page xenbus support was introduced.

Daniel De Graaf formulated the fix by code inspection after the
regression point was located.

Tadeusz Struk 9e1b74a63f tpm: add support for nonblocking operation
Currently the TPM driver only supports blocking calls, which doesn't allow
asynchronous IO operations to the TPM hardware.
This patch changes it and adds support for nonblocking write and a new poll
function to enable applications, which want to take advantage of this.

Peter Huewe 2f7d8dbb11 tpm: Make SECURITYFS a weak dependency
While having SECURITYFS enabled for the tpm subsystem is beneficial in
most cases, it is not strictly necessary to have it enabled at all.
Especially on platforms without any boot firmware integration of the TPM
(e.g. raspberry pi) it does not add any value for the tpm subsystem,
as there is no eventlog present.

By turning it from 'select' to 'imply' it still gets selected per
default, but enables users who want to save some kb of ram by turning
SECURITYFS off.

Javier Martinez Canillas 0d6d0d62d9 tpm: suppress transmit cmd error logs when TPM 1.2 is disabled/deactivated
For TPM 1.2 chips the system setup utility allows to set the TPM device in
one of the following states:

  * Active: Security chip is functional
  * Inactive: Security chip is visible, but is not functional
  * Disabled: Security chip is hidden and is not functional

When choosing the "Inactive" state, the TPM 1.2 device is enumerated and
registered, but sending TPM commands fail with either TPM_DEACTIVATED or
TPM_DISABLED depending if the firmware deactivated or disabled the TPM.

Since these TPM 1.2 error codes don't have special treatment, inactivating
the TPM leads to a very noisy kernel log buffer that shows messages like
the following:

  tpm_tis 00:05: 1.2 TPM (device-id 0x0, rev-id 78)
tpm tpm0: A TPM error (6) occurred attempting to read a pcr value
  tpm tpm0: TPM is disabled/deactivated (0x6)
tpm tpm0: A TPM error (6) occurred attempting get random
tpm tpm0: A TPM error (6) occurred attempting to read a pcr value
ima: No TPM chip found, activating TPM-bypass! (rc=6)
tpm tpm0: A TPM error (6) occurred attempting get random
tpm tpm0: A TPM error (6) occurred attempting get random
tpm tpm0: A TPM error (6) occurred attempting get random
tpm tpm0: A TPM error (6) occurred attempting get random

Let's just suppress error log messages for the TPM_{DEACTIVATED,DISABLED}
return codes, since this is expected when the TPM 1.2 is set to Inactive.

In that case the kernel log is cleaner and less confusing for users, i.e:

  tpm_tis 00:05: 1.2 TPM (device-id 0x0, rev-id 78)
  tpm tpm0: TPM is disabled/deactivated (0x6)
ima: No TPM chip found, activating TPM-bypass! (rc=6)

Michael S. Tsirkin fae29f135e hwrng: core - document the quality field
quality field is currently documented as being 'per mill'. In fact the
math involved is:

                add_hwgenerator_randomness((void *)rng_fillbuf, rc,
                                           rc * current_quality * 8 >> 10);

thus the actual definition is "bits of entropy per 1024 bits of input".

The current documentation seems to have confused multiple people
in the past, let's fix the documentation to match code.

An alternative is to change core to match driver expectations, replacing
	rc * current_quality * 8 >> 10
with
	rc * current_quality / 1000
but that has performance costs, so probably isn't a good option.

Jia-Ju Bai be826ada52 char: pcmcia: cm4000_cs: Replace mdelay with usleep_range in set_protocol
set_protocol() is never called in atomic context.

The call chains ending up at set_protocol() are:
[1] set_protocol() <- monitor_card()
[2] set_protocol() <- cmm_ioctl()
monitor_card() is only set in setup_timer(), and cmm_ioctl() is only
set as ".unlocked_ioctl" in file_operations structure "cm4000_fops".

Despite never getting called from atomic context, set_protocol() calls
mdelay(10), i.e. busy wait for 10ms.
That is not necessary and can be replaced with usleep_range to
avoid busy waiting.

Eric Biggers a5e9f55709 crypto: chacha20 - Fix chacha20_block() keystream alignment (again)
In commit 9f480faec5 ("crypto: chacha20 - Fix keystream alignment for
chacha20_block()"), I had missed that chacha20_block() can be called
directly on the buffer passed to get_random_bytes(), which can have any
alignment. So, while my commit didn't break anything, it didn't fully
solve the alignment problems.

Revert my solution and just update chacha20_block() to use
put_unaligned_le32(), so the output buffer need not be aligned.
This is simpler, and on many CPUs it's the same speed.

But, I kept the 'tmp' buffers in extract_crng_user() and
_get_random_bytes() 4-byte aligned, since that alignment is actually
needed for _crng_backtrack_protect() too.

Corey Minyard 10042504ed ipmi:ssif: Add support for multi-part transmit messages > 2 parts
The spec was fairly confusing about how multi-part transmit messages
worked, so the original implementation only added support for two
part messages. But after talking about it with others and finding
something I missed, I think it makes more sense.

The spec mentions smbus command 8 in a table at the end of the
section on SSIF support as the end transaction. If that works,
then all is good and as it should be. However, some implementations
seem to use a middle transaction <32 bytes tomark the end because of the
confusion in the spec, even though that is an SMBus violation if
the number of bytes is zero.

So this change adds some tests, if command=8 works, it uses that,
otherwise if an empty end transaction works, it uses a middle
transaction <32 bytes to mark the end. If neither works, then
it limits the size to 63 bytes as it is now.

Arnd Bergmann dd3535b937 ipmi: Change to ktime_get_ts64()
getnstimeofday64() is deprecated because of the inconsistent naming,
it is only a wrapper around ktime_get_real_ts64() now, which could be
used as a direct replacement.

However, it is generally better to use CLOCK_MONOTONIC timestamps
where possible, to avoid glitches with a concurrent settimeofday()
or leap second.

The uses in ipmi are either for debugging prints or for comparing against
a prior timestamp, so using a monotonic ktime_get_ts64() is probably
best here.

Colin Ian King 97a103e6b5 ipmi_si: fix potential integer overflow on large shift
Shifting unsigned char b by an int type can lead to sign-extension
overflow. For example, if b is 0xff and the shift is 24, then top

the upper 32 bits set. Fix this by casting b to a 64 bit unsigned
before the shift.

The capabilities detection was being done as part of the normal
state machine, but it was possible for it to be running while
the upper layers of the IPMI driver were initializing the

Move the capabilities detection to the the detect function,

simplifies the state machine and removes some code, as a bonus.

Linus Torvalds d5acba26bf Char/Misc driver patches for 4.19-rc1
Here is the bit set of char/misc drivers for 4.19-rc1

There is a lot here, much more than normal, seems like everyone is
writing new driver subsystems these days... Anyway, major things here
 are:
 	- new FSI driver subsystem, yet-another-powerpc low-level
 	  hardware bus
 	- gnss, finally an in-kernel GPS subsystem to try to tame all of
the crazy out-of-tree drivers that have been floating around
for years, combined with some really hacky userspace
implementations. This is only for GNSS receivers, but you
have to start somewhere, and this is great to see.
Other than that, there are new slimbus drivers, new coresight drivers,
new fpga drivers, and loads of DT bindings for all of these and existing
 drivers.

Full details of everything is in the shortlog.

All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
 issues.

Linus Torvalds c715ebeb03 Merge branch 'next-tpm' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jmorris/linux-security
Pull TPM updates from James Morris:

 - Migrate away from PM runtime as explicit cmdReady/goIdle transactions
for every command is a spec requirement. PM runtime adds only a layer
   of complexity on our case.

 - tpm_tis drivers can now specify the hwrng quality.

 - TPM 2.0 code uses now tpm_buf for constructing messages. Jarkko
thinks Tomas Winkler has done the same for TPM 1.2, and will start
digging those changes from the patchwork in the near future.

 - Bug fixes and clean ups

Jason A. Donenfeld 9a47249d44 random: Make crng state queryable
It is very useful to be able to know whether or not get_random_bytes_wait
/ wait_for_random_bytes is going to block or not, or whether plain
get_random_bytes is going to return good randomness or bad randomness.

The particular use case is for mitigating certain attacks in WireGuard.
A handshake packet arrives and is queued up. Elsewhere a worker thread
takes items from the queue and processes them. In replying to these
items, it needs to use some random data, and it has to be good random
data. If we simply block until we can have good randomness, then it's
possible for an attacker to fill the queue up with packets waiting to be
processed. Upon realizing the queue is full, WireGuard will detect that
it's under a denial of service attack, and behave accordingly. A better
approach is just to drop incoming handshake packets if the crng is not
yet initialized.

This patch, therefore, makes that information directly accessible.

Tomas Winkler 627448e85c tpm: separate cmd_ready/go_idle from runtime_pm
Fix tpm ptt initialization error:
tpm tpm0: A TPM error (378) occurred get tpm pcr allocation.

We cannot use go_idle cmd_ready commands via runtime_pm handles
as with the introduction of localities this is no longer an optional
feature, while runtime pm can be not enabled.
Though cmd_ready/go_idle provides a power saving, it's also a part of
TPM2 protocol and should be called explicitly.
This patch exposes cmd_read/go_idle via tpm class ops and removes
runtime pm support as it is not used by any driver.

When calling from nested context always use both flags:
TPM_TRANSMIT_UNLOCKED and TPM_TRANSMIT_RAW. Both are needed to resolve
tpm spaces and locality request recursive calls to tpm_transmit().
TPM_TRANSMIT_RAW should never be used standalone as it will fail
on double locking. While TPM_TRANSMIT_UNLOCKED standalone should be
called from non-recursive locked contexts.

New wrappers are added tpm_cmd_ready() and tpm_go_idle() to
streamline tpm_try_transmit code.

tpm_crb no longer needs own power saving functions and can drop using
tpm_pm_suspend/resume.

This patch cannot be really separated from the locality fix.

If ->mmap() failed to set ->vm_ops, mmap_region() will set it to

Ingo Molnar b34fbaa928 random: remove preempt disabled region
No need to keep preemption disabled across the whole function.

mix_pool_bytes() uses a spin_lock() to protect the pool and there are
other places like write_pool() whhich invoke mix_pool_bytes() without
disabling preemption.
credit_entropy_bits() is invoked from other places like
add_hwgenerator_randomness() without disabling preemption.

Before commit 95b709b6be ("random: drop trickle mode") the function
used __this_cpu_inc_return() which would require disabled preemption.
The preempt_disable() section was added in commit 43d5d3018c37 ("[PATCH]

the code relied on "vt_ioctl() being called under BKL".

Tobin C. Harding 753d433b58 random: Return nbytes filled from hw RNG
Currently the function get_random_bytes_arch() has return value 'void'.
If the hw RNG fails we currently fall back to using get_random_bytes().
This defeats the purpose of requesting random material from the hw RNG
in the first place.

There are currently no intree users of get_random_bytes_arch().

Only get random bytes from the hw RNG, make function return the number
of bytes retrieved from the hw RNG.

Theodore Ts'o 81e69df38e random: mix rdrand with entropy sent in from userspace
Fedora has integrated the jitter entropy daemon to work around slow
boot problems, especially on VM's that don't support virtio-rng:

    https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1572944

It's understandable why they did this, but the Jitter entropy daemon
works fundamentally on the principle: "the CPU microarchitecture is
**so** complicated and we can't figure it out, so it *must* be
random". Yes, it uses statistical tests to "prove" it is secure, but
AES_ENCRYPT(NSA_KEY, COUNTER++) will also pass statistical tests with
flying colors.

So if RDRAND is available, mix it into entropy submitted from
userspace. It can't hurt, and if you believe the NSA has backdoored
RDRAND, then they probably have enough details about the Intel
microarchitecture that they can reverse engineer how the Jitter
entropy daemon affects the microarchitecture, and attack its output
stream. And if RDRAND is in fact an honest DRNG, it will immeasurably
improve on what the Jitter entropy daemon might produce.

This also provides some protection against someone who is able to read
or set the entropy seed file.

Randy Dunlap ac3167257b headers: separate linux/mod_devicetable.h from linux/platform_device.h
At over 4000 #includes, <linux/platform_device.h> is the 9th most

<linux/mod_devicetable.h>, so drop that header and explicitly add
<linux/mod_devicetable.h> to source files that need it.

After this patch, there are 225 files that use <linux/mod_devicetable.h>,
for a reduction of around 3900 times that <linux/mod_devicetable.h>
does not have to be read & parsed.

This patch was build-tested on 20 different arch-es.

Linus Torvalds a11e1d432b Revert changes to convert to ->poll_mask() and aio IOCB_CMD_POLL
The poll() changes were not well thought out, and completely
unexplained. They also caused a huge performance regression, because
"->poll()" was no longer a trivial file operation that just called down
to the underlying file operations, but instead did at least two indirect
calls.

Indirect calls are sadly slow now with the Spectre mitigation, but the
performance problem could at least be largely mitigated by changing the
"->get_poll_head()" operation to just have a per-file-descriptor pointer
to the poll head instead. That gets rid of one of the new indirections.

But that doesn't fix the new complexity that is completely unwarranted
for the regular case. The (undocumented) reason for the poll() changes
was some alleged AIO poll race fixing, but we don't make the common case
slower and more complex for some uncommon special case, so this all
really needs way more explanations and most likely a fundamental
redesign.

[ This revert is a revert of about 30 different commits, not reverted
individually because that would just be unnecessarily messy - Linus ]

Michael Büsch 837bf7cc3b hwrng: core - Always drop the RNG in hwrng_unregister()
enable_best_rng() is used in hwrng_unregister() to switch away from the
currently active RNG, if that is the one currently being removed.
However enable_best_rng() might fail, if the next RNG's init routine
fails. In that case enable_best_rng() will return an error code and
the currently active RNG will remain active.
After unregistering this might lead to crashes due to use-after-free.

Fix this by dropping the currently active RNG, if enable_best_rng()
failed. This will result in no RNG to be active, if the next-best
one failed to initialize.

Kees Cook fad953ce0b treewide: Use array_size() in vzalloc()
The vzalloc() function has no 2-factor argument form, so multiplication
factors need to be wrapped in array_size(). This patch replaces cases of:

        vzalloc(a * b)

with:
        vzalloc(array_size(a, b))

as well as handling cases of:

        vzalloc(a * b * c)

with:

        vzalloc(array3_size(a, b, c))

This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like:

        vzalloc(4 * 1024)

though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion.

Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were
dropped, since they're redundant.

The Coccinelle script used for this was:

Kees Cook a86854d0c5 treewide: devm_kzalloc() -> devm_kcalloc()
The devm_kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, devm_kcalloc().
This patch replaces cases of:

        devm_kzalloc(handle, a * b, gfp)

with:
        devm_kcalloc(handle, a * b, gfp)

as well as handling cases of:

        devm_kzalloc(handle, a * b * c, gfp)

with:

        devm_kzalloc(handle, array3_size(a, b, c), gfp)

as it's slightly less ugly than:

        devm_kcalloc(handle, array_size(a, b), c, gfp)

This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like:

        devm_kzalloc(handle, 4 * 1024, gfp)

though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion.

Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were
dropped, since they're redundant.

Some manual whitespace fixes were needed in this patch, as Coccinelle
really liked to write "=devm_kcalloc..." instead of "= devm_kcalloc...".

The Coccinelle script used for this was:

// Fix redundant parens around sizeof().

Linus Torvalds 0eb0061381 It's been a busy release for the IPMI driver. Some notable changes:
A user was running into timeout issues doing maintenance commands over
the IPMB network behind an IPMI controller. Extend the maintenance
mode concept to messages over IPMB and allow the timeouts to be tuned.

Lots of cleanup, style fixing, some bugfixes, and such.

At least one user was having trouble with the way the IPMI driver would
lock the i2c driver module it used. The IPMI driver was not designed
for hotplug. However, hotplug is a reality now, so the IPMI driver
 was modified to support hotplug.

The proc interface code is now completely removed. Long live sysfs!

Tom Hromatka 873c38a424 char: sparc64: Add privileged ADI driver
SPARC M7 and newer processors utilize ADI to version and
protect memory. This driver is capable of reading/writing
ADI/MCD versions from privileged user space processes.
Addresses in the adi file are mapped linearly to physical
memory at a ratio of 1:adi_blksz. Thus, a read (or write)
of offset K in the file operates upon the ADI version at
physical address K * adi_blksz. The version information
is encoded as one version per byte. Intended consumers
are makedumpfile and crash.

Tadeusz Struk 3ab2011ea3 tpm: fix race condition in tpm_common_write()
There is a race condition in tpm_common_write function allowing
two threads on the same /dev/tpm<N>, or two different applications
on the same /dev/tpmrm<N> to overwrite each other commands/responses.
Fixed this by taking the priv->buffer_mutex early in the function.

Also converted the priv->data_pending from atomic to a regular size_t
type. There is no need for it to be atomic since it is only touched
under the protection of the priv->buffer_mutex.

Christoph Hellwig 89b310a2b2 random: convert to ->poll_mask
The big change is that random_read_wait and random_write_wait are merged
into a single waitqueue that uses keyed wakeups. Because wait_event_*
doesn't know about that this will lead to occassional spurious wakeups
in _random_read and add_hwgenerator_randomness, but wait_event_* is
designed to handle these and were are not in a a hot path there.

in get_burstcount() and wait_for_tpm_stat() by calling usleep_range()
directly.

After this change, performance on a system[1] with a TPM 1.2 with an 8 byte
burstcount for 1000 extends improved from ~10.7 sec to ~7 sec.

[1] All tests are performed on an x86 based, locked down, single purpose
closed system. It has Infineon TPM 1.2 using LPC Bus.

[2] From the TCG Specification "TCG PC Client Specific TPM Interface
Specification (TIS), Family 1.2":

"NOTE : It takes roughly 330 ns per byte transfer on LPC. 256 bytes would
take 84 us, which is a long time to stall the CPU. Chipsets may not be
designed to post this much data to LPC; therefore, the CPU itself is
stalled for much of this time. Sending 1 kB would take 350 μs. Therefore,
even if the TPM_STS_x.burstCount field is a high value, software SHOULD
be interruptible during this period."

[3] From the TCG Specification 2.0, "TCG PC Client Platform TPM Profile
(PTP) Specification":

"It takes roughly 330 ns per byte transfer on LPC. 256 bytes would take
84 us. Chipsets may not be designed to post this much data to LPC;
therefore, the CPU itself is stalled for much of this time. Sending 1 kB
would take 350 us. Therefore, even if the TPM_STS_x.burstCount field is a
high value, software should be interruptible during this period. For SPI,
assuming 20MHz clock and 64-byte transfers, it would take about 120 usec
to move 256B of data. Sending 1kB would take about 500 usec. If the
transactions are done using 4 bytes at a time, then it would take about
1 msec. to transfer 1kB of data."

Nayna Jain 59f5a6b07f tpm: reduce poll sleep time in tpm_transmit()
tpm_try_transmit currently checks TPM status every 5 msecs between
send and recv. It does so in a loop for the maximum timeout as defined
in the TPM Interface Specification. However, the TPM may return before
5 msecs. Thus the polling interval for each iteration can be reduced,
which improves overall performance. This patch changes the polling sleep
time from 5 msecs to 1 msec.

Additionally, this patch renames TPM_POLL_SLEEP to TPM_TIMEOUT_POLL and
moves it to tpm.h as an enum value.

After this change, performance on a system[1] with a TPM 1.2 with an 8 byte
burstcount for 1000 extends improved from ~14 sec to ~10.7 sec.

Nayna Jain 9298075697 tpm: move the delay_msec increment after sleep in tpm_transmit()
Commit e2fb992d82 ("tpm: add retry logic") introduced a new loop to

Unfortunately, the loop doubles the time before sleeping, causing the

means between 1 and 2 seconds.

Theodore Ts'o dc12baacb9 random: use a different mixing algorithm for add_device_randomness()
add_device_randomness() use of crng_fast_load() was highly
problematic. Some callers of add_device_randomness() can pass in a
large amount of static information. This would immediately promote
the crng_init state from 0 to 1, without really doing much to
initialize the primary_crng's internal state with something even
vaguely unpredictable.

Since we don't have the speed constraints of add_interrupt_randomness(),
we can do a better job mixing in the what unpredictability a device
driver or architecture maintainer might see fit to give us, and do it
in a way which does not bump the crng_init_cnt variable.

Also, since add_device_randomness() doesn't bump any entropy
accounting in crng_init state 0, mix the device randomness into the
input_pool entropy pool as well. This is related to CVE-2018-1108.

Kees Cook 3c8ba0d61d kernel.h: Retain constant expression output for max()/min()
In the effort to remove all VLAs from the kernel[1], it is desirable to
build with -Wvla. However, this warning is overly pessimistic, in that
it is only happy with stack array sizes that are declared as constant
expressions, and not constant values. One case of this is the
evaluation of the max() macro which, due to its construction, ends up
converting constant expression arguments into a constant value result.

All attempts to rewrite this macro with __builtin_constant_p() failed
with older compilers (e.g. gcc 4.4)[2]. However, Martin Uecker,
constructed[3] a mind-shattering solution that works everywhere.
Cthulhu fhtagn!

This patch updates the min()/max() macros to evaluate to a constant
expression when called on constant expression arguments. This removes
several false-positive stack VLA warnings from an x86 allmodconfig build
when -Wvla is added:

  $ diff -u before.txt after.txt | grep ^-
-drivers/input/touchscreen/cyttsp4_core.c:871:2: warning: ISO C90 forbids variable length array ‘ids’ [-Wvla]
-fs/btrfs/tree-checker.c:344:4: warning: ISO C90 forbids variable length array ‘namebuf’ [-Wvla]
-lib/vsprintf.c:747:2: warning: ISO C90 forbids variable length array ‘sym’ [-Wvla]
-net/ipv4/proc.c:403:2: warning: ISO C90 forbids variable length array ‘buff’ [-Wvla]
-net/ipv6/proc.c:198:2: warning: ISO C90 forbids variable length array ‘buff’ [-Wvla]
-net/ipv6/proc.c:218:2: warning: ISO C90 forbids variable length array ‘buff64’ [-Wvla]

This also updates two cases where different enums were being compared
and explicitly casts them to int (which matches the old side-effect of
the single-evaluation code): one in tpm/tpm_tis_core.h, and one in
drm/drm_color_mgmt.c.

Linus Torvalds cc5ada7ca3 Mostly small changes, as usual.
This does add an IPMI BMC server-side driver, to allow a Linux
system to act as an IPMI controller. That's the biggest change,
but it is just a new driver that is fairly narrow in use.

The other largish change is removing ACPI SPMI probe support,
which should have never really been there in the beginning.

James Bottomley 2be8ffed09 tpm: fix intermittent failure with self tests
My Nuvoton 6xx in a Dell XPS-13 has been intermittently failing to work
(necessitating a reboot). The problem seems to be that the TPM gets into a
state where the partial self-test doesn't return TPM_RC_SUCCESS (meaning
all tests have run to completion), but instead returns TPM_RC_TESTING
(meaning some tests are still running in the background). There are
various theories that resending the self-test command actually causes the
tests to restart and thus triggers more TPM_RC_TESTING returns until the
timeout is exceeded.

There are several issues here: firstly being we shouldn't slow down the
boot sequence waiting for the self test to complete once the TPM
backgrounds them. It will actually make available all functions that have
passed and if it gets a failure return TPM_RC_FAILURE to every subsequent
command. So the fix is to kick off self tests once and if they return
TPM_RC_TESTING log that as a backgrounded self test and continue on. In
order to prevent other tpm users from seeing any TPM_RC_TESTING returns
(which it might if they send a command that needs a TPM subsystem which is
still under test), we loop in tpm_transmit_cmd until either a timeout or we
don't get a TPM_RC_TESTING return.

Finally, there have been observations of strange returns from a partial
test. One Nuvoton is occasionally returning TPM_RC_COMMAND_CODE, so treat
any unexpected return from a partial self test as an indication we need to
run a full self test.

James Bottomley e2fb992d82 tpm: add retry logic
TPM2 can return TPM2_RC_RETRY to any command and when it does we get
unexpected failures inside the kernel that surprise users (this is
mostly observed in the trusted key handling code). The UEFI 2.6 spec
has advice on how to handle this:

The firmware SHALL not return TPM2_RC_RETRY prior to the completion
    of the call to ExitBootServices().

Implementer’s Note: the implementation of this function should check
the return value in the TPM response and, if it is TPM2_RC_RETRY,
resend the command. The implementation may abort if a sufficient
number of retries has been done.

So we follow that advice in our tpm_transmit() code using
TPM2_DURATION_SHORT as the initial wait duration and
TPM2_DURATION_LONG as the maximum wait time. This should fix all the
in-kernel use cases and also means that user space TSS implementations
don't have to have their own retry handling.

Chris Chiu 0803d7befa tpm: self test failure should not cause suspend to fail
The Acer Acer Veriton X4110G has a TPM device detected as:
  tpm_tis 00:0b: 1.2 TPM (device-id 0xFE, rev-id 71)

After the first S3 suspend, the following error appears during resume:
tpm tpm0: A TPM error(38) occurred continue selftest

Any following S3 suspend attempts will now fail with this error:
tpm tpm0: Error (38) sending savestate before suspend
PM: Device 00:0b failed to suspend: error 38

Error 38 is TPM_ERR_INVALID_POSTINIT which means the TPM is
not in the correct state. This indicates that the platform BIOS
is not sending the usual TPM_Startup command during S3 resume.
>From this point onwards, all TPM commands will fail.

The same issue was previously reported on Foxconn 6150BK8MC and
Sony Vaio TX3.

The platform behaviour seems broken here, but we should not break
suspend/resume because of this.

When the unexpected TPM state is encountered, set a flag to skip the
affected TPM_SaveState command on later suspends.

Tomas Winkler 888d867df4 tpm: cmd_ready command can be issued only after granting locality
The correct sequence is to first request locality and only after
that perform cmd_ready handshake, otherwise the hardware will drop
the subsequent message as from the device point of view the cmd_ready
handshake wasn't performed. Symmetrically locality has to be relinquished
only after going idle handshake has completed, this requires that
go_idle has to poll for the completion and as well locality
relinquish has to poll for completion so it is not overridden
in back to back commands flow.

Two wrapper functions are added (request_locality relinquish_locality)
to simplify the error handling.
