ACPI / PPTT: use ACPI ID whenever ACPI_PPTT_ACPI_PROCESSOR_ID_VALID is set
Currently, we use the ACPI processor ID only for the leaf/processor nodes
as the specification states it must match the value of the ACPI processor
ID field in the processor’s entry in the MADT.
However, if a PPTT structure represents a processors group, it
matches a processor container UID in the namespace and the
ACPI_PPTT_ACPI_PROCESSOR_ID_VALID flag indicates whether the
ACPI processor ID is valid.
Let's use UID whenever ACPI_PPTT_ACPI_PROCESSOR_ID_VALID is set to be
consistent instead of using table offset as it's currently done for
non-leaf nodes.

acpi: Add helper for deactivating memory region
Sometimes memory resource may be overlapping with
SystemMemory Operation Region by design, for example if the
memory region is used as a mailbox for communication with a
firmware in the system. One occasion of such mailboxes is
USB Type-C Connector System Software Interface (UCSI).
With regions like that, it is important that the driver is
able to map the memory with the requirements it has. For
example, the driver should be allowed to map the memory as
non-cached memory. However, if the operation region has been
accessed before the driver has mapped the memory, the memory
has been marked as write-back by the time the driver is
loaded. That means the driver will fail to map the memory
if it expects non-cached memory.
To work around the problem, introducing helper that the
drivers can use to temporarily deactivate (unmap)
SystemMemory Operation Regions that overlap with their
IO memory.

ACPI / EC: Use ec_no_wakeup on Thinkpad X1 Carbon 6th
On this system EC interrupt triggers constantly kicking devices out of low power states and thus blocking power management. The system also has a PCIe root port hosting Alpine Ridge Thunderbolt controller and it never gets a chance to go to D3cold because of this. Since the power button works the same regardless if EC interrupt is enabled or not during s2idle, add a quirk for this machine that sets ec_no_wakeup=true preventing spurious wakeups. pwm: Changes for v4.18-rc1
This contains a couple of fixes and cleanups for the Meson and ACPI/LPSS drivers as well as capture support for STM32. Note that given the cross- subsystem changes, the STM32 patches were merged through the MFD and PWM trees, both sharing an immutable branch. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQJNBAABCAA3FiEEiOrDCAFJzPfAjcif3SOs138+s6EFAlseQMIZHHRoaWVycnku cmVkaW5nQGdtYWlsLmNvbQAKCRDdI6zXfz6zoZ+8D/9XLQhQqW+pbI28JB0Jwe22 StuPNymo4wdED9Ga1ZPsVePKouQWW9D+NFjp80zqH26M4c+B235OvUljRDPnwTMH edJBUmGO2LMil8xtKYdF98WusLT33Q/k5alDmS11gEd/1h5xOH5kORc9pHuTIwhN dq5hy5OZWHHhlvlI4tCbqLuPrj/ucNourBJaLsMTwsGjdROtaakpyBbDX6ytMZ3c VIV78GFeszWhLfi/mkQlxQ6SzfEX8D+xfNRgYZkmklsJ+K7ztvK5qcnZQgv3yoTL s9xaZJY/Ei5IIyUFK6hraWTgIBkyZ9LpEPQHnGdkp8R1WpskcNWMgQup7FUm7U2u gwHiijZvj6hLjjxFS+bje2xoBTUB5KhCcC9COMUAktigm5mtLzXdoeVUQivqZerm plISAMo9UQMeO+wYZCMY5E9lWrsCGYSYWno5aHxAu6SaSvYUDIcD49LM6JMkt9Ek 5VLirs6b53pBNKZHH2+t67GMz/8GkzlZl19sQfRhv3uYJHHn+3VuOY4wQsqBLIk8 PoMzzWuzUgvcb+pZBisGHk92DCEXR1/9mgbNBNHXm+uuQ+YvXjvltY5osaIV1aI4 eBskscme1YGYEBJbhJpKEON6UFpUc4QD9HNXfAHQ/vyf7IShUdNk7zDnKBm9O42e SfX8AtcmV4KoVHi/Sw9DbQ== =ZED5 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'pwm/for-4.18-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/thierry.reding/linux-pwm Pull pwm updates from Thierry Reding: "This contains a couple of fixes and cleanups for the Meson and ACPI/LPSS drivers as well as capture support for STM32. treewide: devm_kzalloc() -> devm_kcalloc()
The devm_kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, devm_kcalloc(). This patch replaces cases of: devm_kzalloc(handle, a * b, gfp) with: devm_kcalloc(handle, a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: devm_kzalloc(handle, a * b * c, gfp) with: devm_kzalloc(handle, array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: devm_kcalloc(handle, array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: devm_kzalloc(handle, 4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. Some manual whitespace fixes were needed in this patch, as Coccinelle really liked to write "=devm_kcalloc..." instead of "= devm_kcalloc...". treewide: kmalloc() -> kmalloc_array()
The kmalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kmalloc_array(). This patch replaces cases of: kmalloc(a * b, gfp) with: kmalloc_array(a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: kmalloc(a * b * c, gfp) with: kmalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: kmalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: kmalloc(4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. The tools/ directory was manually excluded, since it has its own implementation of kmalloc(). libnvdimm for 4.18
* DAX broke a fundamental assumption of truncate of file mapped pages. The truncate path assumed that it is safe to disconnect a pinned page from a file and let the filesystem reclaim the physical block. With DAX the page is equivalent to the filesystem block. Introduce dax_layout_busy_page() to enable filesystems to wait for pinned DAX pages to be released. Without this wait a filesystem could allocate blocks under active device-DMA to a new file. * DAX arranges for the block layer to be bypassed and uses dax_direct_access() + copy_to_iter() to satisfy read(2) calls. However, the memcpy_mcsafe() facility is available through the pmem block driver. In order to safely handle media errors, via the DAX block-layer bypass, introduce copy_to_iter_mcsafe(). * Fix cache management policy relative to the ACPI NFIT Platform Capabilities Structure to properly elide cache flushes when they are not necessary. The table indicates whether CPU caches are power-fail protected. ACPI / LPSS: Add missing prv_offset setting for byt/cht PWM devices
The LPSS PWM device on on Bay Trail and Cherry Trail devices has a set of private registers at offset 0x800, the current lpss_device_desc for them already sets the LPSS_SAVE_CTX flag to have these saved/restored over device-suspend, but the current lpss_device_desc was not setting the prv_offset field, leading to the regular device registers getting saved/restored instead. This is causing the PWM controller to no longer work, resulting in a black screen, after a suspend/resume on systems where the firmware clears the APB clock and reset bits at offset 0x804. This commit fixes this by properly setting prv_offset to 0x800 for the PWM devices. Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org Fixes: |

ACPICA: Interpreter: Begin deprecation of Unload operator
The Unload AML operator is no longer supported for the reasons below. An AE_NOT_IMPLEMENTED exception is returned. 1) A correct implementation on at least some hosts may not be possible. 2) Other ACPI implementations do not correctly/fully support it. 3) It requires host device driver support which is not known to exist. (To properly support namespace unload out from underneath.) 4) This AML operator has never been seen in the field. ACPICA: AML parser: attempt to continue loading table after error
This change alters the parser so that the table load does not abort upon an error. Notable changes: If there is an error while parsing an element of the termlist, we will skip parsing the current termlist element and continue parsing to the next opcode in the termlist. If we get an error while parsing the conditional of If/Else/While or the device name of Scope, we will skip the body of the statement all together and pop the parser_state. If we get an error while parsing the base offset and length of an operation region declaration, we will remove the operation region from the namespace. acpi, nfit: Remove ecc_unit_size
The "Clear Error Unit" may be smaller than the ECC unit size on some devices. For example, poison may be tracked at 64-byte alignment even though the ECC unit is larger. Unless / until the ACPI specification provides a non-ambiguous way to communicate this property do not expose this to userspace. Software that had been using this property must already be prepared for the case where the property is not provided on older kernels, so it is safe to remove this attribute. ACPI: EC: Dispatch the EC GPE directly on s2idle wake
On platforms where the Low Power S0 Idle _DSM interface is used, on wakeup from suspend-to-idle, when it is known that the ACPI SCI has triggered while suspended, dispatch the EC GPE in order to catch all EC events that may have triggered the wakeup before carrying out the noirq phase of device resume. That is needed to handle power button wakeup on some platforms where the EC goes into a low-power mode during suspend-to-idle and while in that mode it will discard events after a timeout. If that timeout is shorter than the time it takes to complete the noirq resume of devices, looking for EC events after the latter is too late. Signed-off-by: Rafael J. ACPI/PPTT: Add Processor Properties Topology Table parsing
ACPI 6.2 adds a new table, which describes how processing units are related to each other in tree like fashion. Caches are also sprinkled throughout the tree and describe the properties of the caches in relation to other caches and processing units. Add the code to parse the cache hierarchy and report the total number of levels of cache for a given core using acpi_find_last_cache_level() as well as fill out the individual cores cache information with cache_setup_acpi() once the cpu_cacheinfo structure has been populated by the arch specific code. An additional patch later in the set adds the ability to report peers in the topology using find_acpi_cpu_topology() to report a unique ID for each processing unit at a given level in the tree. These unique id's can then be used to match related processing units which exist as threads, within a given package, etc. Tested-by: Ard Biesheuvel <ard.biesheuvel@linaro.org> Tested-by: Vijaya Kumar K <vkilari@codeaurora.org> Tested-by: Xiongfeng Wang <wangxiongfeng2@huawei.com> Tested-by: Tomasz Nowicki <Tomasz.Nowicki@cavium.com> Acked-by: Sudeep Holla <sudeep.holla@arm.com> Acked-by: Ard Biesheuvel <ard.biesheuvel@linaro.org> Acked-by: Rafael J.
