mtd: rawnand: Move platform_nand_xxx definitions out of rawnand.h
platform_nand_xxx definitions are just used by the plat_nand driver. Let's move those definitions out of the core/driver-agnostic rawnand.h header. Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@bootlin.com> Signed-off-by: Miquel Raynal <miquel.raynal@bootlin.com> |

mtd: rawnand: Create a legacy struct and move ->IO_ADDR_{R, W} there
We regularly have new NAND controller drivers that are making use of fields/hooks that we want to get rid of but can't because of all the legacy drivers that we might break if we do. So, instead of removing those fields/hooks, let's move them to a sub-struct which is clearly documented as deprecated. We start with the ->IO_ADDR_{R,W] fields. mtd: rawnand: plat_nand: Pass a nand_chip object to all platform_nand_ctrl hooks
Let's make the raw NAND API consistent by patching all helpers and hooks to take a nand_chip object instead of an mtd_info one or remove the mtd_info object when both are passed. In order to do that, we first need to update the platform_nand_ctrl hooks to take a nand_chip object instead of an mtd_info. We add temporary plat_nand_xxx() wrappers to the do the mtd -> chip conversion, but those will be dropped when patching nand_chip hooks to take a nand_chip object. ARM: orion5x: Revert commit 4904dbda41 .
It is not valid for orion5x to use mac_pton().
First of all, the orion5x buffer is not NULL terminated. mac_pton()
has no business operating on non-NULL terminated buffers because
only the caller can know that this is valid and in what manner it
is ok to parse this NULL'less buffer.
Second of all, orion5x operates on an __iomem pointer, which cannot
be dereferenced using normal C pointer operations. Accesses to
such areas much be performed with the proper iomem accessors.

treewide: setup_timer() -> timer_setup()
This converts all remaining cases of the old setup_timer() API into using timer_setup(), where the callback argument is the structure already holding the struct timer_list. These should have no behavioral changes, since they just change which pointer is passed into the callback with the same available pointers after conversion. It handles the following examples, in addition to some other variations. Casting from unsigned long: void my_callback(unsigned long data) { struct something *ptr = (struct something *)data; ... } ... setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, ptr); and forced object casts: void my_callback(struct something *ptr) { ... } ... setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, (unsigned long)ptr); become: void my_callback(struct timer_list *t) { struct something *ptr = from_timer(ptr, t, my_timer); ... } ... timer_setup(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0); Direct function assignments: void my_callback(unsigned long data) { struct something *ptr = (struct something *)data; ... } ... ptr->my_timer.function = my_callback; have a temporary cast added, along with converting the args: void my_callback(struct timer_list *t) { struct something *ptr = from_timer(ptr, t, my_timer); ... } ... ptr->my_timer.function = (TIMER_FUNC_TYPE)my_callback; And finally, callbacks without a data assignment: void my_callback(unsigned long data) { ... } ... setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0); have their argument renamed to verify they're unused during conversion: void my_callback(struct timer_list *unused) { ... } ... timer_setup(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0); The conversion is done with the following Coccinelle script: spatch --very-quiet --all-includes --include-headers \ -I ./arch/x86/include -I ./arch/x86/include/generated \ -I ./include -I ./arch/x86/include/uapi \ -I ./arch/x86/include/generated/uapi -I ./include/uapi \ -I ./include/generated/uapi --include ./include/linux/kconfig.h \ --dir . \ --cocci-file ~/src/data/timer_setup.cocci @fix_address_of@ expression e; License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930 and resulted in the second patch in this series. - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in it (per prior point). Results summary: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------ GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270 GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17 LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15 GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14 ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5 LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4 LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1 and that resulted in the third patch in this series. - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became the concluded license(s). - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a license but the other didn't, or they both detected different licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred. - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics). - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier, the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later in time. In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. ARM: orion: Register DSA switch as a MDIO device
Utilize the ability to pass board specific MDIO bus information towards a particular MDIO device thus allowing us to provide the per-port switch layout to the Marvell 88E6XXX switch driver. Since we would end-up with conflicting registration paths, do not register the "dsa" platform device anymore. Note that the MDIO devices registered by code in net/dsa/dsa2.c does not parse a dsa_platform_data, but directly take a dsa_chip_data (specific to a single switch chip), so we update the different call sites to pass this structure down to orion_ge00_switch_init(). ARM: orion: simplify orion_ge00_switch_init
One of the last users of NO_IRQ on ARM is the switch initialization code on orion5x, which sometimes passes a GPIO based IRQ number. However, the driver doesn't actually use this number, and according to Andrew Lunn never will do it for non-DT based machines, so we can simply drop the irq argument. Simplifying it further, we can also drop the static platform_device and instead call platform_device_register_data(), which in turn lets us mark the platform_data structures as __initdata and slightly reduce the memory consumption. ARM: SoC multiplatform code changes for v4.5
This branch is the culmination of 5 years of effort to bring the ARMv6 and ARMv7 platforms together such that they can all be enabled and boot the same kernel. It has been a tremendous amount of cleanup and refactoring by a huge number of people, and creation of several new (and major) subsystems to better abstract out all the platform details in an appropriate manner. The bulk of this branch is a large patchset from Arnd that brings several of the more minor and older platforms we have closer to multiplatform support. Among these are MMP, S3C64xx, Orion5x, mv78xx0 and realview Much of this is moving around header files from old mach directories, but there are also some cleanup patches of debug_ll (lowlevel debug per-platform options) and other parts. Linus Walleij also has some patchs to clean up the older ARM Realview platforms by finally introducing DT support, and Rob Herring has some for ARM Versatile which is now DT-only. Both of these platforms are now multiplatform. Finally, a couple of patches from Russell for Dove PMU, and a fix from Valentin Rothberg for Exynos ADC, which were rebased on top of the series to avoid conflicts. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iQIUAwUAVqAGcmCrR//JCVInAQLDog/4x9F0PHGmZhexGfFOpi2Od63Jjx55izRU zRXqRjjFjambOrZuOx8lEGDy/qzqKbsDU8D1P4IUugkDr2bLSXv+NTLZL1kNBIdm YOlJhw/BmzLYqauOHmBzGhtv1FDUk3rqbgTsP5tTWj5LpSkwjmqui3HBZpi+f3Rr YOn+NeQSARiw+51D0b106a9RFshQXRGgn5m3xFjLWhJqshb2z2Ew5cogX/zdwrrM ss1BFomxsvgk6S+snN6v7cEX2iXe3r89qNR5jEW5BgNpQGFsAUeXPr9zzH07L/Qq O7XLw9jt5MX/X5372zVHPb57WoflLbF9cFaaDUZV3eTqt3lC67BTxOtYIdC2i90k E5GYlsy88CRwT2EO+ok/6UTryph+hVv7JqHfbKfnISrbraMCK36DtDTpBIpZ9uYF rRB7ncJZUWBcyoe+qvitSl+2KV54iB1ez2RXsketxM98dDZsfB2M2ImFou1F/Pgg ALvpifPubi/uDe7xNUsSuaT6/3jAomBuNsxnkYJ3NeiH/+duZbOYGkzK/LlcjZyc UrA0IpLfwIFsBNzwfpZPZ1lkEu8Y1YZZ+Hv9k65q1wMuBDgrFI5zUeYrPZi4pN9T Yo1xP9FstVLDouJrpGZo12VIIxR1UBeGqfRI/BZ58LEF3PRq/g2OVFsdQia5gZKr ddiJKSL1Vw== =z1AW -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'armsoc-multiplatform' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc Pull ARM SoC multiplatform code updates from Arnd Bergmann: "This branch is the culmination of 5 years of effort to bring the ARMv6 and ARMv7 platforms together such that they can all be enabled and boot the same kernel. MTD updates for v4.5:

ARM: orion5x: clean up mach/*.h headers
This is a simple move of all header files that are no longer included by anything else from the include/mach directory to the platform directory itself as preparation for multiplatform support. The mach/uncompress.h headers are left in place for now, and are mildly modified to be independent of the other headers. They will be removed entirely when ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM gets enabled and they become obsolete. Rather than updating the path names inside of the comments of each header, I delete those comments to avoid having to update them again, should they get moved or copied another time. ARM: orion: use SPARSE_IRQ everywhere
As a preparation for multiplatform support, this moves all the code using plat-orion over to use sparse irq support, which is enabled implicitly for multiplatform. In particular, the hardcoded NR_IRQS macro gets replaced with a machine specific one that is set in the machine descriptor in order to set up a static mapping for all legacy interrupts. ARM: orion: always use MULTI_IRQ_HANDLER
As a preparation for multiplatform support, this enables the MULTI_IRQ_HANDLER code unconditionally on dove and orion5x, and introduces the respective code on mv78xx0, which did not have it so far. ARM: orion: move watchdog setup to mach-orion5x
The watchdog device node is created in plat-orion/common.c but depends on the bridge address that is platform specific, so as a preparation for orion multiplatform support, we move it out of the common code into orion5x and dove. At the moment, dove does not use the watchdog, so I'm marking the function as __maybe_unused for the moment. The compiler will be able to compile out the device definition this way, and we can easily add it later. ARM: SoC cleanups for v4.3
A large cleanup branch this release, with a healthy 10k negative line delta. Most of this is removal of legacy (non-DT) support of shmobile platforms. There is also removal of two non-DT platforms on OMAP, and the plat-samsung directory is cleaned out by moving most of the previously shared-location-but-not-actually-shared files from there to the appropriate mach directories instead. There are other sets of changes in here as well: - Rob Herring removed use of set_irq_flags under all platforms and moved to genirq alternatives - A series of timer API conversions to set-state interface - ep93xx, nomadik and ux500 cleanups from Linus Walleij - __init annotation fixes from Nicolas Pitre + a bunch of other changes that all add up to a nice set of cleanups -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iQIcBAABAgAGBQJV16zRAAoJEIwa5zzehBx30OYQAIM2TaHWxDzcK0jOfrPEOyU0 jhnT3B2/FbIpYbt3UwcDOqJacHzA/syU4UjplCcWWhKYtTucXQIjOxi0BgRq5V3X EFrgEbQMLXshhMGquBd4Nl6XhpRrlZcnnY4iFPGf7pR5jQfwQhZCiHEOXCLe4qlz m9GorKjEmiSk2ID/PFpyOUx20XiiqkU2MOCsNqNiGwFfmQfpVo0vXtKgxlL6d6q+ 9mrWFFTqgiOBMAU/X1j18U9jpFT6NOe8JcXp3F3tm4Cq5nJ2pTPZcaYWOORD0bGc 7Os1HRTN9SMNsb8sSvQa1N/Fy2AAFuvGdg8q4oLzgtXJogInRmxE4oGLbffq0As/ q81mEuWkdHjGPs5oyPNQdP2grYhflNP+M1+fA6QaUG/mDl5RFFcld9nfhCiBeIZW oHAHZhz7//BImpFsmNiXOew9fmQaHxQ6Jy0K4YvhqaxwQ0N54ZadUPH47wmmxW5E X5IY5Oo7xg3e4EU4/t1nFDTxMG936ZxLVtuq79dRHrl+AT6KVbzdUI4LLyrvEULh ETbWIZUAHvE9i2N8GbsfDzc9YlpG/c5SpN8T5dg2R0BQpgE192iG6s5XoGyu80MG MbtbEBml0y3tr36Bd9tCpsSrBjzZLUk5WRo6Rd/zWKlRkslV74iacKLvC7C5oa7n GYL4xUSPE1RhJxnXezp0 =acy4 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'armsoc-cleanup' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc Pull ARM SoC cleanups from Olof Johansson: "A large cleanup branch this release, with a healthy 10k negative line delta. ARM: SoC updates for 3.16 (part 2)
This is a small follow-up to the larger ARM SoC updates merged last week, almost entirely for the keystone platform. The main change here is to use the new dma-ranges parsing code that came in through Russell's ARM tree. This allows the keystone platform to do cache-coherent DMA and to finally support all the available physical memory when LPAE is enabled. Aside from this, the keystone reset driver has been rewritten, and there is a small bug fix to allow building the orion5x platform again. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) iQIVAwUAU5harmCrR//JCVInAQJuXhAA2v+IVK4HqkIric4Hj/7monhv/Gxm+7Fj +3GYX9QHncSnILQm0ke+OYKYoLNPDbDVyvsY5JWbewLC3TbvnKZoM25Q4Aj6Fcj5 GAVgggMtc7dkk8VIDfUvjyYZsiiWcvhATvwlQg70oOC0LmRjPwQnBvyP+zvUiBUJ ++xBGiVsfScIRhbjB+cYZl7dhLXA+GKzaCw9sKVCS+ExmlAYBSy4cUkRCkw4AQI6 s4udVuPtFi7++rNTdn2MBeyLyk0pOjQu+jepo/bwmKGaKS88KwZjTCPI1YRtrkrv ZjF4AY0kjUenoJuN9Dj9q6I6Ivc8YFDr411hF/LwiBF7+QUk0EnAEeAhDGan/ZCG 1+xZbY54tQk+TNNgR2V/RzUWilhPmG3rdtq9MnvYrmQnyGeF07MCCAIqoH+B+hDm AvApocOT9sReD4yTNIBHYPKsp04jLXR5XKRZ98QkAOInEQaYTpFOU3LyrdgFLLB3 fIfDf2ZHCc6cmp/wXKk83LVxFQqYbyw0Q93xB/X/8yqb/NyJ8hVaKWgAcofUuj3t M87I+XcljA/dx8FsELM3B+qSZXakdDUgXBkfNePkm7GGlq5NziBTMJnhbXiIVMe+ 4kZIyxRD3OZj0d1K3mHMSvoX/FY/98AJWk2eizwwIx64PskatiKQTkX9XFnYPXLb AtdWv8t3Ozc= =AqkT -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'soc2-for-3.16' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc Pull part two of ARM SoC updates from Arnd Bergmann: "This is a small follow-up to the larger ARM SoC updates merged last week, almost entirely for the keystone platform. Aside from this, the keystone reset driver has been rewritten, and there is a small bug fix to allow building the orion5x platform again" * tag 'soc2-for-3.16' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc: ARM: keystone: Drop use of meminfo since its not available anymore ARM: orion5x: fix mvebu_mbus_dt_init call ARM: configs: keystone: enable reset driver support ARM: dts: keystone: update reset node to work with reset driver ARM: keystone: remove redundant reset stuff ARM: keystone: Update the dma offset for non-dt platform devices ARM: keystone: Switch over to coherent memory address space ARM: configs: keystone: add MTD_SPI_NOR (new dependency for M25P80) ARM: configs: keystone: drop CONFIG_COMMON_CLK_DEBUG |

Pull ARM updates from Russell King: - Major clean-up of the L2 cache support code. The existing mess was becoming rather unmaintainable through all the additions that others have done over time. This turns it into a much nicer structure, and implements a few performance improvements as well. - Clean up some of the CP15 control register tweaks for alignment support, moving some code and data into alignment.c - DMA properties for ARM, from Santosh and reviewed by DT people. This adds DT properties to specify bus translations we can't discover automatically, and to indicate whether devices are coherent. - Hibernation support for ARM - Make ftrace work with read-only text in modules - add suspend support for PJ4B CPUs - rework interrupt masking for undefined instruction handling, which allows us to enable interrupts earlier in the handling of these exceptions. - support for big endian page tables - fix stacktrace support to exclude stacktrace functions from the trace, and add save_stack_trace_regs() implementation so that kprobes can record stack traces. - Add support for the Cortex-A17 CPU. - Remove last vestiges of ARM710 support. - Removal of ARM "meminfo" structure, finally converting us solely to memblock to handle the early memory initialisation. * 'for-linus' of git://ftp.arm.linux.org.uk/~rmk/linux-arm: (142 commits) ARM: ensure C page table setup code follows assembly code (part II) ARM: ensure C page table setup code follows assembly code ARM: consolidate last remaining open-coded alignment trap enable ARM: remove global cr_no_alignment ARM: remove CPU_CP15 conditional from alignment.c ARM: remove unused adjust_cr() function ARM: move "noalign" command line option to alignment.c ARM: provide common method to clear bits in CPU control register ARM: 8025/1: Get rid of meminfo ARM: 8060/1: mm: allow sub-architectures to override PCI I/O memory type ARM: 8066/1: correction for ARM patch 8031/2 ARM: 8049/1: ftrace/add save_stack_trace_regs() implementation ARM: 8065/1: remove last use of CONFIG_CPU_ARM710 ARM: 8062/1: Modify ldrt fixup handler to re-execute the userspace instruction ARM: 8047/1: rwsem: use asm-generic rwsem implementation ARM: l2c: trial at enabling some Cortex-A9 optimisations ARM: l2c: add warnings for stuff modifying aux_ctrl register values ARM: l2c: print a warning with L2C-310 caches if the cache size is modified ARM: l2c: remove old .set_debug method ARM: l2c: kill L2X0_AUX_CTRL_MASK before anyone else makes use of this ... |
