Most of the system/core/include/log/log.h file uses the C99 syntax of
variadic macros (that is, '...' in parameter list and __VA_ARGS__
in arguments). Except for andoid_printLog and android_printAssert
which still uses GCC custom extension syntax.
Switched the remaining macros to use C99 syntax. GCC extension syntax
makes my editor's code parser puke.

Brillo is converging on a set of mandatory system services to be
included in all Brillo builds. We'd like these services to run as
separate users just like other native Android/Brillo system services.
Add users for these services:
-Firewalld: Brillo has more granular firewall requirements (think e.g.
Brillo-powered router.) Firewalld exposes a (currently) D-Bus/
(soon to be) Binder API to broker access to IPTables rules.
-Trunksd: Some Brillo product configs will require TPMs. Trunksd
manages TPMs in Chrome OS and Brillo.

restructure fastboot to remove platform-dependent networking code.
This CL adds socket_set_receive_timeout() to libcutils and combines the

the unit tests. A future CL will add the TCP protocol which will use
this TCP socket implementation.

Reduce maximum log payload so that the sum with the maximum
length header logger_entry_v4 is a page size. This is a
performance measure.
Expect side effects, truncates messages 8 bytes earlier. The
length has a long history (2008) so there may be non-C code
somewhere that has it hard-coded rather than reflecting this
header. CTS tests may need to be adjusted.

Although ever present, an increased regression introduced with
commit b6bee33182 (liblog: logd:
support logd.timestamp = monotonic).
A signal handler can interrupt in locked context, if log is written
in the signal handler, we are in deadlock. To reduce the contention
and chances for this problem separate out timestamp lock from is
loggable lock to reduce contention situations. Provide a best-guess
response if lock would fail in timestamp path.
Use a common lock() inline within each module, with a comment speaking
to the issues surrounding calling a function that has a mutex within
a signal handler.
ToDo: Hold off signals temporarily in mainline, restart when unblock.

Add the following mount options to the /proc filesystem:
hidepid=2,gid=3009
This change blocks /proc access unless you're in group 3009
(aka AID_READPROC).
Please see
https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/Documentation/filesystems/proc.txt
for documentation on the hidepid option.
hidepid=2 is preferred over hidepid=1 since it leaks less information
and doesn't generate SELinux ptrace denials when trying to access
/proc without being in the proper group.
Add AID_READPROC to processes which need to access /proc entries for
other UIDs.

and run fsck with -f on clean shutdown instead.
With -f, fsck.f2fs always performs a full scan of the /data
partition regardless of whether the partition is clean or not.
The full scan takes more than 2 seconds on volantis-userdebug
and delays the OS boot.
With -a, the command does almost nothing when the partition
is clean and finishes within 20-30ms on volantis-userdebug.
When the partition has an error or its check point has
CP_FSCK_FLAG (aka "need_fsck"), the command does exactly the
same full scan as -f to fix it.

Add a build id field to the header structure in blob cache. Add build
id support with reading and writing the cache. When the cache gets
written it writes the build id at the end of the header. When read it
checks to see if there is a match between the current version and the
version in the cache. If not, it invalidates the cache which would
typically only occur during an ota update. Also remove blob cache

C (but not C++) has a concept of a flexible array member, which
is documented at https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/Zero-Length.html .
Using a flexible array member indicates that the structure is
really a header for a variable length object.
In logd's case, the variable length structure android_event_string_t
was embedded within another structure called
android_log_event_string_t. This makes gcc's __builtin_object_size()
function really confused. When compiling with C++,
__builtin_object_size(android_log_event_string_t.payload.data, 1)
would return 0, whereas if you compiled the code with C, the same
call would (properly) return -1.
Code which does automatic bounds checking, such as the proposed
patch at https://android-review.googlesource.com/145411 , will
cause problems for logd if this syntax is used.
Don't try to embed a variable length structure within another
structure. This doesn't appear to be valid C nor C++, and
while it's worked, it seems problematic.
Instead, inline the structure so it's one big happy structure.
