Fix interrupt processing on slow machines by using individual tasklets
for each different device interrupt. This ensures that while a RX or TX
status tasklet is scheduled only the according device interrupt is
masked and other interrupts such as TBTT can still be processed.
Also, this allows us to use tasklet_hi_schedule for TBTT processing
which is required to not send out beacons with a wrong DTIM count (due
to delayed periodic beacon updates). Furthermore, this improves the
latency between the TBTT and sending out buffered multi- and broadcast
traffic.
As a nice bonus, the interrupt handling overhead should be much lower.

Currently there are two places that trigger a beacon update on PCI
devices. The bss_info_changed callback and the periodic update
triggered by the TBTT or PRETBTT interrupt.
Since the next TBTT or PRETBTT interrupt will periodically fetch an
updated beacon remove the update_beacon call in the bss_info_changed
callback for PCI devices.
In the worst case it will take one beacon interval longer to fetch
the new beacon then before. For devices that have a PRETBTT interrupt
there should be no change at all.

This patch allows to dynamically remove beaconing interfaces without
shutting beaconing down on all interfaces.
The only place to start and stop beaconing are now the start- and
stop_queue callbacks. Hence, we can remove some register writes during
interface bring up (config_intf) and only write the correct sync mode
to the register there.
When multiple beaconing interfaces are present we should enable
beaconing as soon as mac80211 enables beaconing on at least one of
them. The beacon queue gets stopped when the last beaconing
interface was stopped by mac80211. Therefore, introduce another
interface counter to keep track ot the number of enabled beaconing
interfaces and start or stop the beacon queue accordingly.
To allow single interfaces to stop beaconing, add a new driver
callback clear_beacon to clear a single interface's beacon without
affecting the other interfaces. Don't overload the clear_entry callback
for clearing beacons as that would introduce additional overhead
(check for each TX queue) into the clear_entry callback which is used
on the drivers TX/RX hotpaths.
Furthermore, the write beacon callback doesn't need to enable beaconing
anymore but since beaconing should be disabled while a new beacon is
written or cleared we still disable beacon generation and enable it
afterwards again in the driver specific callbacks. However, beacon
related interrupts should not be disabled/enabled here, that's solely
done from the start- and stop queue callbacks. It would be nice to stop
the beacon queue just before the beacon update and enable it afterwards
in rt2x00queue itself instead of the current implementation that relies
on the driver doing the right thing. However, since start- and
stop_queue are mutex protected we cannot use them for atomic beacon
updates.

Commit "ath9k_hw: Relocate Opmode initialization"
moved the opmode initialization before the STA_ID1 register

code instead of the ath_regulatory structure because this needs to be called
quite early in the driver inititalization where ath_regulatory is not available
yet in ath5k.
I'm using MKK9_MKKC only because this is the regdomain in the 802.11j enabled

Various places printing tx queue information used various different ways to
get a tx queue index for printing statistics. Most of these ways were wrong.
ATH_TXQ_AC_* cannot be used as an index for sc->tx.txq, because it is only
used internally for queue assignment.
One place used WME_AC_* as a queue index for sc->debug.stats.txstats, however
this array uses the ath9k_hw queue number as well.

The passive scan channel dwell time currently used is 30-60TU. A typical
beacon interval for AP's is 100TU. This leads to a ~30% worst-case probability
of finding an AP via passive scanning.
For 5GHz bands for DFS frequencies passive scanning is the only scanning
option. Hence for these, the probability of finding an AP is very low.
To fix this, increase the passive channel scan dwell times (also the early
leave value, as 5GHz channels are still typically very silent.) Use a value
of 100TU, because that covers most typical AP configurations.
Based on testing the probability of finding an AP (100TU beacon interval) on
a single scan round are as follows (based on 100 iterations):
dwell min/max (TU) | probability
---------------------+------------
30/60 | 35%
60/60 | 56%
80/80 | 77%
100/100 | 100%

Extend channel to frequency mapping for 802.11j Japan 4.9GHz band, according to
IEEE802.11 section 17.3.8.3.2 and Annex J. Because there are now overlapping
channel numbers in the 2GHz and 5GHz band we can't map from channel to
frequency without knowing the band. This is no problem as in most contexts we
know the band. In places where we don't know the band (and WEXT compatibility)
we assume the 2GHz band for channels below 14.
This patch does not implement all channel to frequency mappings defined in
802.11, it's just an extension for 802.11j 20MHz channels. 5MHz and 10MHz
channels as well as 802.11y channels have been omitted.

The aggregation code currently doesn't implement the
buffer size negotiation. It will always request a max
buffer size (which is fine, if a little pointless, as
the mac80211 code doesn't know and might just use 0
instead), but if the peer requests a smaller size it
isn't possible to honour this request.
In order to fix this, look at the buffer size in the
addBA response frame, keep track of it and pass it to
the driver in the ampdu_action callback when called
with the IEEE80211_AMPDU_TX_OPERATIONAL action. That
way the driver can limit the number of subframes in
aggregates appropriately.
Note that this doesn't fix any drivers apart from the
addition of the new argument -- they all need to be
updated separately to use this variable!

The rx error bit parsing was changed to consider PHY errors and various
decryption errors separately. While correct according to the documentation,
this is causing spurious decryption error reports in some situations.
Fix this by restoring the original order of the checks in those places,
where the errors are meant to be mutually exclusive.
If a CRC error is reported, then MIC failure and decryption errors
are irrelevant, and a PHY error is unlikely.

Since baseband hangs are rare, but the hang check function has a high
false positive rate in some situations, we need to add more reliable
indicators.
In AP mode we can use blocked beacon transmissions as an indicator,
they should be rare enough.
In station mode, we can skip the hang check entirely, since a true
hang will trigger beacon loss detection, and mac80211 will rescan,
which leads to a hw reset that will bring the hardware back to life.
To make this more reliable, we need to skip fast channel changes
if the hardware appears to be stuck.

The power detector adc offset calibration has to be done
on 4 minutes interval (longcal * pa_skip_count). But the commit
"ath9k_hw: fix a noise floor calibration related race condition"
makes the PA calibration executed more frequently beased on
nfcal_pending value. Running PAOffset calibration lesser than
longcal interval doesn't help anything and the worse part is that
it causes NF load timeouts and RX deaf conditions.
In a very noisy environment, where the distance b/w AP & station
is ~10 meter and running a downlink udp traffic with frequent
background scan causes "Timeout while waiting for nf to load:
AR_PHY_AGC_CONTROL=0x40d1a" and moves the chip into deaf state.
This issue was originaly reported in Android platform where
the network-manager application does bgscan more frequently
on AR9271 chips. (AR9285 family usb device).

Fixes the following:
1. POLL should not enable IRQ when work is not completed
2. No locking between TX descriptor cleaning and XMIT descriptor handling
3. No locking between RX POLL and XMIT modifying control register
4. Since TX cleaning (called from POLL) is running in parallel with XMIT
unnecessary locking is needed.
5. IRQ handler looks at RX frame status solely, this is wrong when IRQ is
temporarily disabled (in POLL), and when IRQ is shared.
6. IRQ handler clears IRQ status, which is unnecessary
7. TX queue was stopped in preventing cause when not MAX_SKB_FRAGS+1
descriptors were available after a SKB been scheduled by XMIT. Instead
the TX queue is stopped first when not enough descriptors are available
upon entering XMIT.
It was hard to split up this patch in smaller pieces since all are tied
together somehow.
Note the RX flag used in the interrupt handler does not signal that
interrupt was asserted, but that a frame was received. Same goes for TX.
Also, IRQ is not asserted when the RX flag is set before enabling IRQ
enable until a new frame is received. So extra care must be taken to
avoid enabling IRQ and all descriptors are already used, hence dead lock
will upon us. See new POLL implementation that enableds IRQ then look at
the RX flag to determine if one or more IRQs may have been missed. TX/RX
flags are cleared before handling previously enabled descriptors, this
ensures that the RX/TX flags are valid when determining if IRQ should be
turned on again.
By moving TX cleaning from POLL to XMIT in the standard case, removes some
locking trouble. Enabling TX cleaning from poll only when not enough TX
descriptors are available is safe because the TX queue is at the same time
stopped, thus XMIT will not be called. The TX queue is woken up again when
enough descriptrs are available.
TX Frames are always enabled with IRQ, however the TX IRQ Enable flag will
not be enabled until XMIT must wait for free descriptors.
Locking RX and XMIT parts of the driver from each other is needed because
the RX/TX enable bits share the same register.

skb_clone() dynamically allocates memory and may fail. If it does it
returns NULL. This means we'll dereference a NULL pointer in
drivers/net/usb/cdc_ncm.c::cdc_ncm_rx_fixup().
As far as I can tell, the proper way to deal with this is simply to goto
the error label.
Furthermore gcc complains that 'skb' may be used uninitialized:
drivers/net/usb/cdc_ncm.c: In function ‘cdc_ncm_rx_fixup’:
drivers/net/usb/cdc_ncm.c:922:18: warning: ‘skb’ may be used uninitialized in this function
and I believe it is right. On the line where we

to that variable yet. I believe the correct fix for that is to use

After recent changes, (percpu stats on vlan/tunnels...), we dont need
anymore per struct netdev_queue tx_bytes/tx_packets/tx_dropped counters.
Only remaining users are ixgbe, sch_teql, gianfar & macvlan :
1) ixgbe can be converted to use existing tx_ring counters.
2) macvlan incremented txq->tx_dropped, it can use the
dev->stats.tx_dropped counter.
3) sch_teql : almost revert ab35cd4b8f (Use net_device internal stats)
Now we have ndo_get_stats64(), use it, even for "unsigned long"
fields (No need to bring back a struct net_device_stats)
4) gianfar adds a stats structure per tx queue to hold
tx_bytes/tx_packets
This removes a lockdep warning (and possible lockup) in rndis gadget,
calling dev_get_stats() from hard IRQ context.

wrong number of "blue flame registers" doesn't really help anyone, since
the firmware bug is known and fixed and the bug is pretty much harmless
to users. So just get rid of the warning.

For the VFs, the Mailbox Data "registers" are actually backed by
T4's "MA" interface rather than PL Registers (as is the case for
the PFs). Because these are in different coherency domains, the
write to the VF's PL-register-backed Mailbox Control can race in
front of the writes to the MA-backed VF Mailbox Data "registers".
So we need to do a read-back on at least one byte of the VF Mailbox
Data registers before doing the write to the VF Mailbox Control
register.

Driver is reading flash fw version from defined address, this address
may be invalid. Indeed Driver should read address for fw version through
flash layout table. Flash layout table has defined region and address for
fw version address should be read from fw image region.
Driver has check for old firmware, this bug can cause driver load fail.
This patch will try to read fw version from flash image region, if that fails,
read from defined address.

pcmcia_request_irq() and pcmcia_enable_device() are intended
to be called from process context (first function allocate memory
with GFP_KERNEL, second take a mutex). We can not take spin lock
and call them.
It's safe to move spin lock after pcmcia_enable_device() as we
still hold off IRQ until dev->base_addr is 0 and driver will
not proceed with interrupts when is not ready.

The interrupt handler checks for INTA being -1, apparently that means that the
hardware is gone. But the interrupt handler defers actual interrupt processing
to a tasklet. By the time the tasklet is run and checks INTA again, the
hardware might be gone and INTA be -1, which confuses the driver because all
event bits are set.
The patch applies to 2.6.37.

incorrectly in ixgbe_type.h.
The previous version of this patch included a printk that was left over from
me fixing the filter setup. This patch does not include that printk.

This change adds a compressed input type for atr signature hash
computation. It also drops the use of the set functions when setting up
the ATR input since we can then directly setup the hash input as two dwords
that can be stored and passed as registers.
With these changes the cost of computing the has is low enough that we can
perform a hash computation on each TCP SYN flagged packet allowing us to
drop the number of flow director misses considerably in tests such as
netperf TCP_CRR.

increase versus the old flow director hash computation. The overall effect
is only a 1% increase in transactions per second though due to the fact
that only 1 packet in 20 are actually hashed upon.

max of 100us before the corresponding Rx queue is really disabled. Added

Some Phys supported by the driver do not remain powered off across a reset
of the device when the interface is down, e.g. on 82571, but not on 82574.
This patch powers down (only when WoL is disabled) the PHY after a reset if
the interface is down and the ethtool diagnostics are not currently running.
The ethtool diagnostic function required a minor re-factor as a result, and
the e1000_[get|put]_hw_control() functions are renamed since they are no
longer static to netdev.c as they are needed by the ethtool diagnostics.
