These are updates for platform specific code on 32-bit ARM machines,
essentially anything that can not (yet) be expressed using DT files.
Noteworthy changes include:
- We get support for running in big-endian mode on two platforms:
sunxi (Allwinner) and s3c24xx (old Samsung).
- The recently added Uniphier platform now uses standard PSCI
methods for SMP booting and we remove support for old bootloader
versions that did not support it yet.
- In sunxi, we gain support for the "Nextthing GR8" SoC, which
is a close relative of the Allwinner A13 and R8 chips.
- PXA completes its move over to the generic dmaengine framework
and removes its old private API
- mach-bcm gains support for BCM47189/BCM53573, their first ARM
SoC with integrated 802.11ac wireless networking.

- Do away with the last users of the obsolete Kconfig options
ARCH_REQUIRE_GPIOLIB and ARCH_WANT_OPTIONAL_GPIOLIB (the latter
always sounded like an item on a wishlist to Santa Claus to
me). We can now select GPIOLIB and be done with it, for all
archs. After some struggle it even work on UM. Not that it has
GPIO, but if it wants to, it can select the library.
- Continued efforts to make drivers properly either tristate or
bool.
- Introduce a warning for drivers assigning default triggers to
their irqchip lines when probed from device tree, so we find and
fix these ambigous drivers. It is agreed that in the OF config
path, the device tree defines trigger characteristics.
- The same warning, mutatis mutandis, for ACPI-probed GPIO
irqchips.
- We introduce the ability to mark certain IRQ lines as "unusable"
as they can be taken by BIOS/firmware, unrouted in silicon and
generally nasty if you use them, and such things. This is
put to good use in the STMPE driver and also in the Cherryview
pin control driver.
- A new "mockup" virtual GPIO device that can be used for testing.
The plan is to add unit tests under tools/* for exercising this
device and verify that the kernel code paths are working as they
should.
- Make memory-mapped I/O-drivers depend on HAS_IOMEM. This was
implicit all the time, but when people started building UM
with allyesconfig or allmodconfig it exploded in their face.
- Move some stray bits of device tree and ACPI HW description
callbacks down into their respective implementation silo. These
were causing issues when compiling on !HAS_IOMEM as well, so
now eventually UM compiles the GPIOLIB library if it wants to.
New drivers:
- New driver for the Aspeed GPIO front-end companion to the
pin controller merged through the pin control tree.
- New driver for the LP873x PMIC GPIO portions.
- New driver for Technologic Systems' I2C FPGA GPIO such as
TS4900, TS-7970, TS-7990 and TS-4100.
- New driver for the Broadcom BCM63xx series including BCM6338
and BCM6345.
- New driver for the Intel WhiskeyCove PMIC GPIO.
- New driver for the Allwinner AXP209 PMIC GPIO portions.
- New driver for Diamond Systems 48 line GPIO-MM, another of
these port-mapped I/O expansion cards.
- Support the STMicroelectronics STMPE1600 variant in the STMPE
driver.
Driver improvements:
- The STMPE driver now supports rising/falling edge detection
properly for IRQs.
- The PCA954x will now fetch and enable its VCC regulator properly.
- Major rework of the PCA953x driver with the goal of eventually
switching it over to use regmap and thus modernize it even more.
- Switch the IOP driver to use the generic MMIO GPIO library.
- Move the ages old HTC EGPIO (extended GPIO) GPIO expander driver
over to this subsystem from MFD, achieveing some separation of
concerns.

Add the required PCMCIA clock for the SA1111 "1800" device. This clock
is used to compute timing information for the PCMCIA interface in the
SoC device, rather than the SA1111. Hence, the provision of this clock
is a convenience for the driver and does not reflect the hardware, so
this must not be copied into DT.

Since its initial commit, the driver is buggy for multiple interrupts
handling. The translation from the former lubbock.c file was not
complete, and might stall all interrupt handling when multiple
interrupts occur.
This is especially true when inside the interrupt handler and if a new
interrupt comes and is not handled, leaving the output line still held,
and not creating a transition as the GPIO block behind would expect to
trigger another cplds_irq_handler() call.
For the record, the hardware is working as follows.
The interrupt mechanism relies on :
- one status register
- one mask register
Let's suppose the input irq lines are called :
- i_sa1111
- i_lan91x
- i_mmc_cd
Let's suppose the status register for each irq line is called :
- status_sa1111
- status_lan91x
- status_mmc_cd
Let's suppose the interrupt mask for each irq line is called :
- irqen_sa1111
- irqen_lan91x
- irqen_mmc_cd
Let's suppose the output irq line, connected to GPIO0 is called :
- o_gpio0
The behavior is as follows :
- o_gpio0 = not((status_sa1111 & irqen_sa1111) |
(status_lan91x & irqen_lan91x) |
(status_mmc_cd & irqen_mmc_cd))
=> this is a N-to-1 NOR gate and multiple AND gates
- irqen_* is exactly as programmed by a write to the FPGA
- status_* behavior is governed by a bi-stable D flip-flop
=> on next FPGA clock :
- if i_xxx is high, status_xxx becomes 1
- if i_xxx is low, status_xxx remains as it is
- if software sets status_xxx to 0, the D flip-flop is reset
=> status_xxx becomes 0
=> on next FPGA clock cycle, if i_xxx is high, status_xxx becomes
1 again

The commit 9bf448c66d ("ARM: pxa: use generic gpio operation instead of
gpio register") from Oct 17, 2011, leads to the following static checker
warning:
arch/arm/mach-pxa/spitz_pm.c:172 spitz_charger_wakeup()
warn: double left shift '!gpio_get_value(SPITZ_GPIO_KEY_INT)
<< (1 << ((SPITZ_GPIO_KEY_INT) & 31))'
As Dan reported, the value is shifted three times :
- once by gpio_get_value(), which returns either 0 or BIT(gpio)
- once by the shift operation '<<'
- a last time by GPIO_bit(gpio) which is BIT(gpio)
Therefore the calculation lead to a chained or operator of :
- (1 << gpio) << (1 << gpio) = (2^gpio)^gpio = 2 ^ (gpio * gpio)
It is be sheer luck the former statement works, only because each gpio
used is strictly smaller than 6, and therefore 2^(gpio^2) never
overflows a 32 bits value, and because it is used as a boolean value to
check a gpio activation.
As the xxx_charger_wakeup() functions are used as a true/false detection
mechanism, take that opportunity to change their prototypes from integer
return value to boolean one.

Commit b70661c708 ("net: smc91x: use run-time configuration on all ARM
machines") broke some ARM platforms through several mistakes. Firstly,
the access size must correspond to the following rule:
(a) at least one of 16-bit or 8-bit access size must be supported
(b) 32-bit accesses are optional, and may be enabled in addition to
the above.
Secondly, it provides no emulation of 16-bit accesses, instead blindly
making 16-bit accesses even when the platform specifies that only 8-bit
is supported.
Reorganise smc91x.h so we can make use of the existing 16-bit access
emulation already provided - if 16-bit accesses are supported, use
16-bit accesses directly, otherwise if 8-bit accesses are supported,
use the provided 16-bit access emulation. If neither, BUG(). This
exactly reflects the driver behaviour prior to the commit being fixed.
Since the conversion incorrectly cut down the available access sizes on
several platforms, we also need to go through every platform and fix up
the overly-restrictive access size: Arnd assumed that if a platform can
perform 32-bit, 16-bit and 8-bit accesses, then only a 32-bit access
size needed to be specified - not so, all available access sizes must
be specified.
This likely fixes some performance regressions in doing this: if a
platform does not support 8-bit accesses, 8-bit accesses have been
emulated by performing a 16-bit read-modify-write access.
Tested on the Intel Assabet/Neponset platform, which supports only 8-bit
accesses, which was broken by the original commit.

originally meant to go into -rc1 (but didn't get sent in time for travel
reasons), the branch is unfortunately based on top of a commit in the
middle of the merge window rather than -rc1.
Content-wise we have
- A fix for the last remaining broken build in kernelci,
getting mach-shmobile to build again with SMP disabled
- A fix for a realview regression that broke real hardware but
not the qemu model that everyone uses in practice (needed
for v4.7 as well)
- A merge conflict fix for Tegra that also broke v4.7
- Two Kconfig fixes for arm64 build regressions
- A couple of arm32 build warning fixes (all harmless)
- Fixing the RTC on Exynos7 Espresso (which apparently
never worked right)

accidentally dropped. Both changes in this branch can be considered
bugfixes, so I'm putting them in the fixes branch now.
Implementing the mtd_ooblayout_ops interface is the new way of exposing

Pincontrol is not yet ready for all PXA platforms.
For example, a legacy platform, if PINCTRL was activated, will fail its
calls to gpio_request() or gpio_direction_output(), as the pinctrl
driver might not be available, such as for pxa25x and pxa3xx.
As a step forward, activate pincontrol for all device-tree available
machines, ie. pxa27x device-tree based and pxa3xx device-tree based.
If it appears later that pincontrol is also required for legacy
platforms and if the mfp->pinctrl conversion can be achieved, then
PINCTRL will be activated for the whole PXA architecture.

Since device_add_property_set() now always takes a copy of
the property_set, and also since the fwnode type is always
hard coded to be FWNODE_PDATA, there is no need for the
drivers to deliver the entire struct property_set. The
function can just create the instance of it on its own and
bind the properties from the drivers to it on the spot.
This renames device_add_property_set() to
device_add_properties(). The function now takes struct
property_entry as its parameter instead of struct
property_set.

The problem appears to stem from relying on an old definition of
'struct property', but it has changed several times since the code
could have last been correct.
This changes the code to use the PROPERTY_ENTRY_INTEGER() macro instead,
which works fine for the current definition and is a safer way of doing
the initialization.

Merge with Linux 4.5 to get PROPERTY_ENTRY_INTEGER() that is needed to
fix pxa/raumfeld rotary encoder properties.
ixp4xx and pxa25x both use this driver and provide a slightly
different set of register definitions for it. Aside from that,
the definition in the ixp4xx-regs.h header conflicts with the
on in the pxa27x device driver when compile-testing that:

This addresses both issues by moving all the definitions into the

them was 'UDCCS_IO_ROF', and that could well be a mistake when it
was incorrectly copied from pxa25x to ixp4xx.

Bluetooth is only supported when network support is part of the kernel,
so it is a bit pointless to build the tosa-bt support without networking.
If we try anyway, we get a Kconfig warning:
warning: (TOSA_BT && H1940BT) selects RFKILL which has unmet direct dependencies (NET)
This adds a dependency on CONFIG_NET to avoid that case.

When CONFIG_IWMMXT, the pxa3xx and pxa27x suspend/resume code
emits some xscale specific instructions, which are rejected
by the assembler, because gcc is built with -march=armv5
-mtune=xscale and passes that option to the assembler:
/tmp/cciHumzr.s:553: Error: selected processor does not support ARM mode `mra r2,r3,acc0'
/tmp/cciHumzr.s:605: Error: selected processor does not support ARM mode `mar acc0,r2,r3'

Overriding with -Wa,-march=xscale no longer works, so instead
I'm adding an explict ".arch_extension" directive in all four inline
assembly statements, which should work even if they end up in a different
order in the assembly output.

GPIO_SYSFS is a common kernel functionality, not something
that a board specific Kconfig should have to worry about.
In MIOA701, we get a warning about the select when CONFIG_SYSFS

This branch is the culmination of 5 years of effort to bring the ARMv6
and ARMv7 platforms together such that they can all be enabled and
boot the same kernel. It has been a tremendous amount of cleanup and
refactoring by a huge number of people, and creation of several new
(and major) subsystems to better abstract out all the platform details
in an appropriate manner.
The bulk of this branch is a large patchset from Arnd that brings several
of the more minor and older platforms we have closer to multiplatform
support. Among these are MMP, S3C64xx, Orion5x, mv78xx0 and realview
Much of this is moving around header files from old mach directories,
but there are also some cleanup patches of debug_ll (lowlevel debug
per-platform options) and other parts.
Linus Walleij also has some patchs to clean up the older ARM Realview
platforms by finally introducing DT support, and Rob Herring has some
for ARM Versatile which is now DT-only. Both of these platforms are
now multiplatform.
Finally, a couple of patches from Russell for Dove PMU, and a fix from
Valentin Rothberg for Exynos ADC, which were rebased on top of the
series to avoid conflicts.

of them use all of the data structures, and it's possible to disable
all of the machines, which produces some harmless warnings:

This marks all those structures as __maybe_unused to avoid the warnings.
Obviously a configuration that contains the ezx platform but no specific
