Richard Leitner cfa47afe77 usb: usb251xb: remove max_{power,current}_{sp,bp} properties
Remove the max_{power,current}_{sp,bp} properties of the usb251xb driver
from devicetree. This is done to simplify the dt bindings as requested
by Rob Herring in https://lkml.org/lkml/2017/2/15/1283. If those
properties are ever needed by somebody they can be enabled again easily.

Richard Leitner 3ec72a2a1e usb: misc: add USB251xB/xBi Hi-Speed Hub Controller Driver
This patch adds a driver for configuration of the Microchip USB251xB/xBi
USB 2.0 hub controller series with USB 2.0 upstream connectivity, SMBus
configuration interface and two to four USB 2.0 downstream ports.

Furthermore add myself as a maintainer for this driver.

The datasheet can be found at the manufacturers website, see [1]. All
device-tree exposed configuration features have been tested on a i.MX6
platform with a USB2512B hub.

One important thing on dwc3 is that we don't anymore

Stephen Boyd ef6a7bcfb0 usb: ulpi: Support device discovery via DT
The qcom HSIC ULPI phy doesn't have any bits set in the vendor or
product ID registers. This makes it impossible to make a ULPI
driver match against the ID registers. Add support to discover
the ULPI phys via DT help alleviate this problem. In the DT case,
we'll look for a ULPI bus node underneath the device registering
the ULPI viewport (or the parent of that device to support
chipidea's device layout) and then match up the phy node
underneath that with the ULPI device that's created.

The side benefit of this is that we can use standard properties
in the phy node like clks, regulators, gpios, etc. because we
don't have firmware like ACPI to turn these things on for us. And
we can use the DT phy binding to point our phy consumer to the
phy provider.

The ULPI bus code supports native enumeration by reading the
vendor ID and product ID registers at device creation time, but
we can't be certain that those register reads will succeed if the
phy is not powered up. To avoid any problems with reading the ID
registers before the phy is powered we fallback to DT matching
when the ID reads fail.

If the ULPI spec had some generic power sequencing for these
registers we could put that into the ULPI bus layer and power up
the device before reading the ID registers. Unfortunately this
doesn't exist and the power sequence is usually device specific.
By having the device matched up with DT we can avoid this
problem.

Linus Torvalds 786a72d791 ARM: DT updates for v4.10
Lots of changes as usual, so I'm trying to be brief here. Most of the
new hardware support has the respective driver changes merged through
other trees or has had it available for a while, so this is where things
 come together.

We get a DT descriptions for a couple of new SoCs, all of them variants
of other chips we already support, and usually coming with a new
 evaluation board:

 - Oxford semiconductor (now Broadcom) OX820 SoC for NAS devices
 - Qualcomm MDM9615 LTE baseband
 - NXP imx6ull, the latest and smallest i.MX6 application processor variant
 - Renesas RZ/G (r8a7743 and r8a7745) application processors
 - Rockchip PX3, a variant of the rk3188 chip used in Android tablets
 - Rockchip rk1108 single-core application processor
 - ST stm32f746 Cortex-M7 based microcontroller
 - TI DRA71x automotive processors

These are commercially available consumer platforms we now support:
 - Motorola Droid 4 (xt894) mobile phone
 - Rikomagic MK808 Android TV stick based on Rockchips rx3066
 - Cloud Engines PogoPlug v3 based on OX820
 - Various Broadcom based wireless devices:
   - Netgear R8500 router
   - Tenda AC9 router
   - TP-LINK Archer C9 V1
   - Luxul XAP-1510 Access point
 - Turris Omnia open hardware router based on Armada 385

And a couple of new boards targeted at developers, makers
 or industrial integration:
 - Macnica Sodia development platform for Altera socfpga (Cyclone V)
 - MicroZed board based on Xilinx Zynq FPGA platforms
 - TOPEET itop/elite based on exynos4412
 - WP8548 MangOH Open Hardware platform for IOT, based on
   Qualcomm MDM9615
 - NextThing CHIP Pro gadget
 - NanoPi M1 development board
 - AM571x-IDK industrial board based on TI AM5718
 - i.MX6SX UDOO Neo
 - Boundary Devices Nitrogen6_SOM2 (i.MX6)
 - Engicam i.CoreM6
 - Grinn i.MX6UL liteSOM/liteBoard
 - Toradex Colibri iMX6 module

 Other changes:
 - added peripherals on renesas, davinci, stm32f429, uniphier, sti,
mediatek, integrator, at91, imx, vybrid, ls1021a, omap, qualcomm,
   mvebu, allwinner, broadcom, exynos, zynq

 - Continued fixes for W=1 dtc warnings

 - The old STiH415/416 SoC support gets removed, these never made it into
products and have served their purpose in the kernel as a template
for teh newer chips from ST

 - The exynos4415 dtsi file is removed as nothing uses it.

 - Intel PXA25x can now be booted using devicetree

 Conflicts:
 arch/arm/boot/dts/r8a*.dtsi: a node was added
the clk tree, keep both sides and watch out for git
dropping the required '};' at the end of each side.

Greg Kroah-Hartman ae4d814bf1 usb: patches for v4.10 merge window
One big merge this time with a total of 166 non-merge commits.

Most of the work, by far, is on dwc2 this time (68.2%) with dwc3 a far
second (22.5%). The remaining 9.3% are scattered on gadget drivers.

The most important changes for dwc2 are the peripheral side DMA support
implemented by Synopsys folks and support for the new IOT dwc2
 compatible core from Synopsys.

In dwc3 land we have support for high-bandwidth, high-speed isochronous
endpoints and some non-critical fixes for large scatter lists.

Apart from these, we have our usual set of cleanups, non-critical fixes,

Christian Lamparter 3922fb46f0 usb: dwc2: add amcc,dwc-otg support
This patch adds support for the "amcc,usb-otg" device
which is found in the PowerPC Canyonlands' dts.

The device definition was added by:

commit c89b3458d8 ("powerpc/44x: Add USB DWC DTS entry to Canyonlands
board")

but without any driver support as the dwc2 driver wasn't available at
that time.

Note: The system can't use the generic "snps,dwc2" compatible
because of the special ahbcfg configuration. The default
GAHBCFG_HBSTLEN_INCR4 of snps,dwc2 can cause a system hang
when the USB and SATA is used concurrently.

Since the "V2" firmware can be used on both r8a7795 (es1.x) and r8a7796,

Linus Torvalds c913fc4146 ARM: SoC: late DT updates for v4.9
These updates have been kept in a separate branch mostly because
they rely on updates to the respective clk drivers to keep the
 shared header files in sync.

 - The Renesas r8a7796 (R-Car M3-W) platform gets added, this is an
automotive SoC similar to the ⅹ8a7795 chip we already support, but
the dts changes rely on a clock driver change that has been
merged for v4.9 through the clk tree.

 - The Amlogic meson-gxbb (S905) platform gains support for a few
drivers merged through our tree, in particular the network and
usb driver changes are required and included here, and also
   the clk tree changes.

 - The Allwinner platforms have seen a large-scale change to their
clk drivers and the dts file updates must come after that.
This includes the newly added Nextthing GR8 platform, which is
   derived from sun5i/A13.

 - Some integrator (arm32) changes rely on clk driver changes.

 - A single patch for lpc32xx has no such dependency but wasn't
added until just before the merge window

The most important changes for dwc3 are better
support for scatterlist and, again, throughput
improvements. While on dwc2 got some minor stability
fixes related to soft reset and FIFO usage.

Felipe Tonello has done some good work fixing up our

Support to configure the UTMI+ PHY with an 8- or 16-bit

Stephen Boyd 740a6a1720 usb: misc: Add driver for usb4604
This is a minimal driver to support bringing a usb4604 device
from microchip out of reset and into hub mode. The usb4604 device
is related to the usb3503 device, but it didn't seem close enough
to warrant putting both into the same file. This patch borrows
some of the usb3503 structure and trims it down to just handle
the optional reset gpio and adds the i2c command to put the
device into hub mode.

Linus Torvalds 043248cd4e ARM: DT updates for v4.8
Device tree contents continue to be the largest branches we submit. This
time around, some of the contents worth pointing out is:

 - New SoC platforms:
   - Freescale i.MX 7Solo
   - Broadcom BCM23550
   - Cirrus Logic EP7209 and EP7211 (clps711x platforms)_
   - Hisilicon HI3519
   - Renesas R8A7792

Some of the other delta that is sticking out, line-count wise:
  - Exynos moves of IP blocks under an SoC bus, which causes a large delta due
    to indentation changes
  - A new Tegra K1 board: Apalis
  - A bunch of small updates to many Allwinner platforms; new hardware support,

Linus Torvalds 4a5219edcd ARM: SoC driver updates for v4.7
Driver updates for ARM SoCs, these contain various things that touch
the drivers/ directory but got merged through arm-soc for practical
reasons. For the most part, this is now related to power management
controllers, which have not yet been abstracted into a separate
subsystem, and typically require some code in drivers/soc or arch/arm
 to control the power domains.

Another large chunk here is a rework of the NVIDIA Tegra USB3.0
support, which was surprisingly tricky and took a long time to
 get done.

Finally, reset controller handling as always gets merged through here
 as well.

less than one bulk superspeed packet (<1024) which
would prevent USB3 from ever working on OMAP5 ES1.0.

However, OMAP5 ES1.0 support has been dropped by
commit aa2f4b16f8 ("ARM: OMAP5: id: Remove ES1.0
support") which renders FIFO resizing unnecessary.

Peter Chen 69bec72598 USB: core: let USB device know device node
Although most of USB devices are hot-plug's, there are still some devices
are hard wired on the board, eg, for HSIC and SSIC interface USB devices.
If these kinds of USB devices are multiple functions, and they can supply
other interfaces like i2c, gpios for other devices, we may need to
describe these at device tree.

In this commit, it uses "reg" in dts as physical port number to match
the phyiscal port number decided by USB core, if they are the same,
then the device node is for the device we are creating for USB core.

If this property is set, the max packet size is 188 bytes, it can handle

Merge tag 'devicetree-for-4.4' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/robh/linux

Pull DeviceTree updates from Rob Herring:
"A fairly large (by DT standards) pull request this time with the
majority being some overdue moving DT binding docs around to
  consolidate similar bindings.

   - DT binding doc consolidation moving similar bindings to common
locations. The majority of these are display related which were
     scattered in video/, fb/, drm/, gpu/, and panel/ directories.

   - Add new config option, CONFIG_OF_ALL_DTBS, to enable building all
dtbs in the tree for most arches with dts files (except powerpc for
     now).

   - OF_IRQ=n fixes for user enabled CONFIG_OF.

   - of_node_put ref counting fixes from Julia Lawall.

   - Common DT binding for wakeup-source and deprecation of all similar
     bindings.

   - DT binding for PXA LCD controller.

   - Allow ignoring failed PCI resource translations in order to ignore
     64-bit addresses on non-LPAE 32-bit kernels.

   - Support setting the NUMA node from DT instead of only from parent
     device.

   - Couple of earlycon DT parsing fixes for address and options"

Bhupesh Sharma 736c16d37f doc: DTS: Update DWC3 binding to provide reference to generic bindings
Since the Synopsys DWC3 controller driver inherits the generic bindings
defined in 'usb/generic.txt', this patch tries to capture the same in
the DWC3 binging documentation to avoid any confusion in usage of properties
like 'dr_mode' for certain SoCs like FSL LS2080A.

Greg Kroah-Hartman a4d8e93c31 usb: patches for v4.4 merge window
This pull request is large with a total of 136 non-merge
commits. Because of its size, we will only describe the big things in
 broad terms.

Many will be happy to know that dwc3 is now almost twice as fast after
some profiling and speed improvements. Also in dwc3, John Youn from
Synopsys added support for their new DWC USB3.1 IP Core and the HAPS
platform which can be used to validate it.

A series of patches from Robert Baldyga cleaned up uses of
ep->driver_data as a flag for "claimed endpoint" in favor of the new
 ep->claimed flag.

Sudip Mukherjee fixed a ton of really old problems on the amd5536udc
driver. That should make a few people happy.

Heikki Krogerus worked on converting dwc3 to the unified device property
 interface.

Together with these, there's a ton of non-critical fixes, typos and
 stuff like that.

NeilBrown f5e4edb8c8 power: twl4030_charger: find associated phy by more reliable means.
twl4030_charger currently finds the associated phy
using usb_get_phy() which will return the first USB2 phy.
If your platform has multiple such phys (as mine does),
this is not reliable (and reliably fails on the GTA04).

Change to use devm_usb_get_phy_by_node(), having found the
node by looking for an appropriately named sibling in
device-tree.

This makes usb-charging dependent on correct device-tree
configuration.

usb: patches for v4.1 merge window

As usual, a big pile of commits. This time a total
of 111 non-merge commits.

Other than the usual set of cleanups and non-critical
fixes, we have some interesting work for AM335x's MUSB
babble recovery. Now that takes a lot less time and we
don't have to Reset MUSB all the time.

The printer gadget has been converted to configfs interface
and the atmel udc has learned suspend/resume with wakeup.

Robert Baldyga eac68e8f97 usb: dwc3: make LPM configurable in DT
This patch removes "Enable USB3 LPM Capability" option from Kconfig
and adds snps,usb3_lpm_capable devicetree property instead of it.

USB3 LPM (Link Power Management) capability is hardware property, and
it's platform dependent, so if our hardware supports this feature, we
want rather to configure it in devicetree than having it as Kconfig option.

Paul Walmsley 193c9d23a0 Documentation: DT bindings: add more Tegra chip compatible strings
Align compatible strings for several IP blocks present on Tegra chips
with the latest doctrine from the DT maintainers:

http://marc.info/?l=devicetree&m=142255654213019&w=2

The primary objective here is to avoid checkpatch warnings, per:

http://marc.info/?l=linux-tegra&m=142201349727836&w=2

DT binding text files have been updated for the following IP blocks:

- PCIe
- SOR
- SoC timers
- AHB "gizmo"
- APB_MISC
- pinmux control
- UART
- PWM
- I2C
- SPI
- RTC
- PMC
- eFuse
- AHCI
- HDA
- XUSB_PADCTRL
- SDHCI
- SOC_THERM
- AHUB
- I2S
- EHCI
- USB PHY

N.B. The nvidia,tegra20-timer compatible string is removed from the
nvidia,tegra30-timer.txt documentation file because it's already
mentioned in the nvidia,tegra20-timer.txt documentation file.

This second version takes into account the following requests from
Rob Herring <robherring2@gmail.com>:

- Per-IP block patches have been combined into a single patch

- Explicit documentation about which compatible strings are actually
matched by the driver has been removed. In its place is implicit
documentation that loosely follows Rob's prescribed format:

  "Must contain '"nvidia,<chip>-pcie", "nvidia,tegra20-pcie"' where
   <chip> is tegra30, tegra132, ..." [...] "You should attempt to
document known values of <chip> if you use it"

Greg Kroah-Hartman 2d4d9f35ba usb: patches for v3.19 merge window
This time, a very pull request with 216 non-merge
commits. Most of the commits contained here are
sparse or coccinelle fixes ranging from missing
'static' to returning 0 in case of errors.

More importantly, we have the removal the now
 unnecessary 'driver' argument to ->udc_stop().

DWC2 learned about Dual-Role builds. Users of
this IP can now have a single driver built for
 host and device roles.

DWC3 got support for two new HW platforms: Exynos7
 and AMD.

The Broadcom USB 3.0 Device Controller IP is now
supported and so is PLX USB338x, which means DWC3
has lost is badge as the only USB 3.0 peripheral
 IP supported on Linux.

Thanks for Tony Lindgren's work, we can now have
a distro-like kernel where all MUSB glue layers
can be built into the same kernel (statically
or dynamically linked) and it'll work in PIO (DMA
 will come probably on v3.20).

Other than these, the usual set of cleanups and
 non-critical fixes.

commits. Most of the commits contained here are
sparse or coccinelle fixes ranging from missing
'static' to returning 0 in case of errors.

More importantly, we have the removal the now
unnecessary 'driver' argument to ->udc_stop().

HIRD threshold should be configurable by different platforms.

From DesignWare databook:
When HIRD_Threshold[4] is set to 1b1 and HIRD value is greater than or

three PHY drivers being removed because a new one has been

Gadget framework got a new ->reset callback preparing for
some other changes to come on next merge window.

A few new drivers came in as well; among those we have a
new UDC driver from Xilinx and two new glue layers for
 DWC3 (ST and Qualcomm).

DWC3 also learned about tracepoints which will help debugging
 quite a bit.

Other than that, a big series of non-critical fixes and

Tuomas Tynkkynen 883df42abf USB: tegra: Add resets & has-utmi-pad-registers flag to the PHY binding
When Tegra was converted to use the standard reset bindings, the PHY was
forgotten, probably because all the resetting of the USB blocks were
done in the EHCI driver. What also went unnoticed is that resetting the
1st on-chip USB module also wipes some of the UTMI pad configuration
registers that are also used by the other USB blocks. So this fact needs
to be described in the device tree, and the driver modified not to reset
the 1st module at inappropriate times.

In order to stay compatible with old device trees, the USB drivers will
still function without these properties but with the old,
potentially buggy behaviour.

Linus Torvalds e5c4ecdc55 USB driver patches for 3.16-rc1
Here is the big USB driver pull request for 3.16-rc1.

Nothing huge here, but lots of little things in the USB core, and in
lots of drivers. Hopefully the USB power management will be work better
now that it has been reworked to do per-port power control dynamically.
There's also a raft of gadget driver updates and fixes, CONFIG_USB_DEBUG
is finally gone now that everything has been converted over to the
dynamic debug inteface, the last hold-out drivers were cleaned up and
the config option removed. There were also other minor things all
through the drivers/usb/ tree, the shortlog shows this pretty well.

All have been in linux-next, including the very last patch, which came
from linux-next to fix a build issue on some platforms.

Yoshihiro Shimoda c7c1ce8061 Documentation: dt-bindings: update xhci-platform DT binding for R-Car H2 and M2
This commit extends the compatible string list of the xhci-platform
binding with the new "renesas,xhci-r8a7790" and "renesas,xhci-r8a7791"
compatible strings. It is used to describe the xHCI controller which

Matt Porter 9d4bde5fab dt: bindings: dwc2: fix required value for the phy-names property
"7408484 usb: gadget: s3c-hsotg: enable generic phy support" introduces
generic phy support to the dwc2.txt binding and the s3c-hsotg driver
which implements support for the binding. The binding documentation
incorrectly states that the phy-names property will be "device". The
binding example, driver, and one dts user all implement the phy-names
property as requiring "usb2-phy".

Fix the dwc2.txt binding documentation to correctly specify "usb2-phy"
as the appropriate value for phy-names.

Marek Szyprowski 657d898a93 usb: usb5303: add support for reference clock specified in device tree
USB3503 chip supports 8 values of reference clock. The value is
specified by REF_SEL[1:0] pins and INT_N line. This patch add support
for getting 'refclk' clock, enabling it and setting INT_N line according
to the value of the gathered clock. If no clock has been specified,
driver defaults to the old behaviour (assuming that clock has been
specified by REF_SEL pins from primary reference clock frequencies
table).

Linus Torvalds f83ccb9358 ARM: SoC: device tree changes
A large part of the arm-soc patches are nowadays DT changes, adding support
for new SoCs, boards and devices without changing kernel source. The plan
is still to move the devicetree files out of the kernel tree and reduce
the amount of churn going on here, but we keep finding reasons to delay
 doing that.

Changes are really all over the place, with little sticking out particularly.
We have contributions from a total of 116 people in this branch.

Unfortunately, the size of this branch also causes a significant number
of conflicts at the moment, typically when subsystem maintainers merge
patches that change the driver at the same time as the dts files. In
most cases this could be avoided because the dts changes are supposed
to be compatible in both ways, and we are asking everyone to send ARM
dts changes through our tree only.

Linus Torvalds 235c7b9feb Merge branch 'next' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/benh/powerpc
Pull main powerpc updates from Ben Herrenschmidt:
"This time around, the powerpc merges are going to be a little bit more
  complicated than usual.

This is the main pull request with most of the work for this merge
window. I will describe it a bit more further down.

There is some additional cpuidle driver work, however I haven't
included it in this tree as it depends on some work in tip/timer-core
which Thomas accidentally forgot to put in a topic branch. Since I
didn't want to carry all of that tip timer stuff in powerpc -next, I
setup a separate branch on top of Thomas tree with just that cpuidle
driver in it, and Stephen has been carrying that in next separately
for a while now. I'll send a separate pull request for it.

Additionally, two new pieces in this tree add users for a sysfs API
that Tejun and Greg have been deprecating in drivers-core-next.
Thankfully Greg reverted the patch that removes the old API so this
merge can happen cleanly, but once merged, I will send a patch
adjusting our new code to the new API so that Greg can send you the
  removal patch.

Now as for the content of this branch, we have a lot of perf work for
power8 new counters including support for our new "nest" counters
(also called 24x7) under pHyp (not natively yet).

We have new functionality when running under the OPAL firmware
(non-virtualized or KVM host), such as access to the firmware error
logs and service processor dumps, system parameters and sensors, along
with a hwmon driver for the latter.

There's also a bunch of bug fixes accross the board, some LE fixes,
and a nice set of selftests for validating our various types of copy
  loops.

On the Freescale side, we see mostly new chip/board revisions, some
clock updates, better support for machine checks and debug exceptions,
  etc..."
