Adding machine driver to instantiate I2S based realtek's ALC5631
sound card on Arndale board.
There are other variants of Audio Daughter Cards for Arndale
Board for which support already exists but there is no support for
Realtek's alc5631 codec hence support for ALC5631 based machine
driver is being added.
This patch also documents the device tree binding for the Arndale
board based machine driver.

The 25 MHz reference clock has better stability so its use is preferred over the
core clock.
This commit takes advantage of the already introduced Armada 375 devicetree
compatible string and adds a new timer initialization. If available, the timer
will use the reference clock (named as 'fixed'). Otherwise, it falls back to the
previous behavior.

The memory controller on NVIDIA Tegra exposes various knobs that can be
used to tune the behaviour of the clients attached to it.
In addition, the memory controller implements an SMMU (IOMMU) which can
translate I/O virtual addresses to physical addresses for clients. This
is useful for scatter-gather operation on devices that don't support it
natively and for virtualization or process separation.

The imx-drm driver was put into staging mostly for the following reasons,
all of which have been addressed or superseded:
- convert the irq driver to use linear irq domains
- work out the device tree bindings, this lead to the common of_graph
bindings being used
- factor out common helper functions, this mostly resulted in the
component framework and drm of_graph helpers.
Before adding new fixes, and certainly before adding new features,
move it into its proper place below drivers/gpu/drm.

Overlays are a method to dynamically modify part of the kernel's
device tree with dynamically loaded data. Add the core functionality to
parse, apply and remove an overlay changeset. The core functionality
takes care of managing the overlay data format and performing the add
and remove. Drivers are expected to use the overlay functionality to
support custom expansion busses commonly found on consumer development
boards like the BeagleBone or Raspberry Pi.
The overlay code uses CONFIG_OF_DYNAMIC changesets to perform the low
level work of modifying the devicetree.
Documentation about internal and APIs is provided in

This driver is very similar to the macvlan driver except that it
uses L3 on the frame to determine the logical interface while
functioning as packet dispatcher. It inherits L2 of the master
device hence the packets on wire will have the same L2 for all
the packets originating from all virtual devices off of the same
master device.
This driver was developed keeping the namespace use-case in
mind. Hence most of the examples given here take that as the
base setup where main-device belongs to the default-ns and
virtual devices are assigned to the additional namespaces.
The device operates in two different modes and the difference
in these two modes in primarily in the TX side.
(a) L2 mode : In this mode, the device behaves as a L2 device.
TX processing upto L2 happens on the stack of the virtual device
associated with (namespace). Packets are switched after that
into the main device (default-ns) and queued for xmit.
RX processing is simple and all multicast, broadcast (if
applicable), and unicast belonging to the address(es) are
delivered to the virtual devices.
(b) L3 mode : In this mode, the device behaves like a L3 device.
TX processing upto L3 happens on the stack of the virtual device
associated with (namespace). Packets are switched to the
main-device (default-ns) for the L2 processing. Hence the routing
table of the default-ns will be used in this mode.
RX processins is somewhat similar to the L2 mode except that in
this mode only Unicast packets are delivered to the virtual device
while main-dev will handle all other packets.
The devices can be added using the "ip" command from the iproute2
package -

Some clock modules on the A31 use PLL6x2 as one of their inputs.
This patch changes the PLL6 implementation for A31 to a divs clock,
i.e. clock with multiple outputs that have different dividers.
The first output will be the normal PLL6 output, and the second
will be PLL6x2.
This patch fixes the PLL6 N factor in the clock driver, and removes
any /2 dividers in the PLL6 factors clock part. The N factor counts
from 1 to 32, mapping to values 0 to 31, as shown in the A31 manual.

We plan to use hierarchy irqdomain to suppport CPU vector assignment,
interrupt remapping controller, IO-APIC controller, MSI interrupt
and hypertransport interrupt etc on x86 platforms. So extend irqdomain
interfaces to support hierarchy irqdomain.
There are already many clients of current irqdomain interfaces.
To minimize the changes, we choose to introduce new version 2 interfaces
to support hierarchy instead of extending existing irqdomain interfaces.
According to Thomas's suggestion, the most important design decision is
to build hierarchy struct irq_data to support hierarchy irqdomain, so
hierarchy irqdomain related data could be saved in struct irq_data.
With support of hierarchy irq_data, we could also support stacked
irq_chips. This is most useful in case of set_affinity().
The new hierarchy irqdomain introduces following interfaces:
1) irq_domain_alloc_irqs()/irq_domain_free_irqs(): allocate/release IRQ
and related resources.
2) __irq_domain_alloc_irqs(): a special version to support legacy IRQs.
3) irq_domain_activate_irq()/irq_domain_deactivate_irq(): program
interrupt controllers to activate/deactivate interrupt.
There are also several help functions to ease irqdomain implemenations:
1) irq_domain_get_irq_data(): get irq_data associated with a specific

2) irq_domain_set_hwirq_and_chip(): save irqdomain specific data into

3) irq_domain_alloc_irqs_parent()/irq_domain_free_irqs_parent(): invoke

We also changed irq_startup()/irq_shutdown() to invoke
irq_domain_activate_irq()/irq_domain_deactivate_irq() to program
interrupt controller when start/stop interrupts.

The clock controller module (CCM) has several clock inputs, which
are connected to external crystal oscillators. To reflect this,
assign these fixed clocks to the CCM node directly.
This especially resolves initialization order dependencies we had
with the earlier initialization code: When resolving of the fixed
clocks failed in clk-vf610, the code created fixed clocks with a
rate of 0.

Please pull this batch of updates intended for the 3.19 stream...
For the mac80211 bits, Johannes says:
"It has been a while since my last pull request, so we accumulated
another relatively large set of changes:
* TDLS off-channel support set from Arik/Liad, with some support
patches I did
* custom regulatory fixes from Arik
* minstrel VHT fix (and a small optimisation) from Felix
* add back radiotap vendor namespace support (myself)
* random MAC address scanning for cfg80211/mac80211/hwsim (myself)
* CSA improvements (Luca)
* WoWLAN Net Detect (wake on network found) support (Luca)
* and lots of other smaller changes from many people"
For the Bluetooth bits, Johan says:
"Here's another set of patches for 3.19. Most of it is again fixes and
cleanups to ieee802154 related code from Alexander Aring. We've also got
better handling of hardware error events along with a proper API for HCI
drivers to notify the HCI core of such situations. There's also a minor
fix for mgmt events as well as a sparse warning fix. The code for
sending HCI commands synchronously also gets a fix where we might loose
the completion event in the case of very fast HW (particularly easily
reproducible with an emulated HCI device)."
And...
"Here's another bluetooth-next pull request for 3.19. We've got:
- Various fixes, cleanups and improvements to ieee802154/mac802154
- Support for a Broadcom BCM20702A1 variant
- Lots of lockdep fixes
- Fixed handling of LE CoC errors that should trigger SMP"
For the Atheros bits, Kalle says:
"One ath6kl patch and rest for ath10k, but nothing really major which
stands out. Most notable:
o fix resume (Bartosz)
o firmware restart is now faster and more reliable (Michal)
o it's now possible to test hardware restart functionality without
crashing the firmware using hw-restart parameter with
simulate_fw_crash debugfs file (Michal)"
On top of that...both ath9k and mwifiex get their usual level of
updates. Of note is the ath9k spectral scan work from Oleksij Rempel.
I also pulled from the wireless tree in order to avoid some merge issues.
Please let me know if there are problems!

Introduce FTRACE_OPS_FL_IPMODIFY to avoid conflict among
ftrace users who may modify regs->ip to change the execution
path. If two or more users modify the regs->ip on the same
function entry, one of them will be broken. So they must add
IPMODIFY flag and make sure that ftrace_set_filter_ip() succeeds.
Note that ftrace doesn't allow ftrace_ops which has IPMODIFY
flag to have notrace hash, and the ftrace_ops must have a
filter hash (so that the ftrace_ops can hook only specific
entries), because it strongly depends on the address and
must be allowed for only few selected functions.

The CP15 barrier instructions (CP15ISB, CP15DSB and CP15DMB) are
deprecated in the ARMv7 architecture, superseded by ISB, DSB and DMB
instructions respectively. Some implementations may provide the
ability to disable the CP15 barriers by disabling the CP15BEN bit in
SCTLR_EL1. If not enabled, the encodings for these instructions become
undefined.
To support legacy software using these instructions, this patch
register hooks to -
* emulate CP15 barriers and warn the user about their use
* toggle CP15BEN in SCTLR_EL1

The SWP instruction was deprecated in the ARMv6 architecture. The
ARMv7 multiprocessing extensions mandate that SWP/SWPB instructions
are treated as undefined from reset, with the ability to enable them
through the System Control Register SW bit. With ARMv8, the option to
enable these instructions through System Control Register was dropped
as well.
To support legacy applications using these instructions, port the
emulation of the SWP and SWPB instructions from the arm port to arm64.

Typically, providing support for legacy instructions requires
emulating the behaviour of instructions whose encodings have become
undefined. If the instructions haven't been removed from the
architecture, there maybe an option in the implementation to turn
on/off the support for these instructions.
Create common infrastructure to support legacy instruction
emulation. In addition to emulation, also provide an option to support
hardware execution when supported. The default execution mode (one of
undef, emulate, hw exeuction) is dependent on the state of the
instruction (deprecated or obsolete) in the architecture and
can specified at the time of registering the instruction handlers. The
runtime state of the emulation can be controlled by writing to
individual nodes in sysctl. The expected default behaviour is
documented as part of this patch.

Pull the beginning of seq_file cleanup from Steven:
"I'm looking to clean up the seq_file code and to eventually merge the
trace_seq code with seq_file as well, since they basically do the same thing.
Part of this process is to remove the return code of seq_printf() and friends
as they are rather inconsistent. It is better to use the new function
seq_has_overflowed() if you want to stop processing when the buffer
is full. Note, if the buffer is full, the seq_file code will throw away
the contents, allocate a bigger buffer, and then call your code again
to fill in the data. The only thing that breaking out of the function
early does is to save a little time which is probably never noticed.
I started with patches from Joe Perches and modified them as well.
There's many more places that need to be updated before we can convert
seq_printf() and friends to return void. But this patch set introduces
the seq_has_overflowed() and does some initial updates."

On ARM machines, where generally speaking the idle state numbering has
no fixed and standard meaning it is useful to provide a description
of the idle state inner workings for benchmarking and monitoring purposes.
This patch adds a property to the idle states bindings that if present
gives platform firmware a means of describing the idle state and export
the string description to user space.
The patch updates the DT parsing code accordingly to take the description,

The patch implements the OPAL rtc driver that binds with the rtc
driver subsystem. The driver uses the platform device infrastructure
to probe the rtc device and register it to rtc class framework. The
'wakeup' is supported depending upon the property 'has-tpo' present
in the OF node. It provides a way to load the generic rtc driver in
in the absence of an OPAL driver.
The patch also moves the existing OPAL rtc get/set time interfaces to the
new driver and exposes the necessary OPAL calls using EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL.

RSS (Receive Side Scaling) typically uses Toeplitz hash and a 40 or 52 bytes
RSS key.
Some drivers use a constant (and well known key), some drivers use a random
key per port, making bonding setups hard to tune. Well known keys increase
attack surface, considering that number of queues is usually a power of two.
This patch provides infrastructure to help drivers doing the right thing.
netdev_rss_key_fill() should be used by drivers to initialize their RSS key,
even if they provide ethtool -X support to let user redefine the key later.
A new /proc/sys/net/core/netdev_rss_key file can be used to get the host
RSS key even for drivers not providing ethtool -x support, in case some
applications want to precisely setup flows to match some RX queues.

Some drivers erroneously treat the .pitch and .size fields of struct
drm_mode_create_dumb as inputs. While the include/uapi/drm/drm_mode.h
header has a comment denoting them as outputs, that seemingly wasn't
enough to make drivers use them properly.
The result is that some userspace doesn't explicitly zero out those
fields, assuming that the kernel won't use them. That causes problems
since the data within the structure might be uninitialized, so bogus
data may end up confusing drivers (ridiculously large values for the
pitch, ...).
This series attempts to improve the situation by fixing all drivers to
not use the output fields. Furthermore to spare new drivers this bad
surprise, the DRM core now zeros out these fields prior to handing the
data structure to the driver.
Lessons learned from this are that future IOCTLs should be properly
documented (in the DRM DocBook for example) and should be rigorously
defined. To prevent misuse like this, userspace should be required to
zero out all output fields. The kernel should check for this and fail
if that's not the case.

The highlights in this pull request are:
* IOMMU support: The Tegra DRM driver can now deal with discontiguous
buffers if an IOMMU exists in the system. That means it can allocate
using drm_gem_get_pages() and will map them into IOVA space via the
IOMMU API. Similarly, non-contiguous PRIME buffers can be imported
from a different driver, which allows better integration with gk20a
(nouveau) and less hacks.
* Universal planes: This is precursory work for atomic modesetting and
will allow hardware cursor support to be implemented on pre-Tegra114
where RGB cursors were not supported.
* DSI ganged-mode support: The DSI controller can now gang up with a
second DSI controller to drive high resolution DSI panels.
Besides those bigger changes there is a slew of fixes, cleanups, plugged
memory leaks and so on.

Since simplefb nodes do not relate directly to hw typically they have been
placed in the root of the devicetree. As the represent runtime information
having them as sub-nodes of /chosen is more logical, specify this.
Also specify when to set the chosen stdout-path property to a simplefb node.
For reliable handover to a hardware specific driver, that driver needs to
know which simplefb to unregister when taking over, specify how the hw driver
can find the matching simplefb node.

The stream has to be explicitly restarted by the userspace which
ensures that after stopping/starting McASP the data transfer is

Improve performance by using multiple RDMA/RC channels per SCSI
host for communication with an SRP target. About the
implementation:
- Introduce a loop over all channels in the code that uses
target->ch.
- Set the SRP_MULTICHAN_MULTI flag during login for the creation
of the second and subsequent channels.
- RDMA completion vectors are chosen such that RDMA completion
interrupts are handled by the CPU socket that submitted the I/O
request. As one can see in this patch it has been assumed if a
system contains n CPU sockets and m RDMA completion vectors
have been assigned to an RDMA HCA that IRQ affinity has been
configured such that completion vectors [i*m/n..(i+1)*m/n) are
bound to CPU socket i with 0 <= i < n.
- Modify srp_free_ch_ib() and srp_free_req_data() such that it
becomes safe to invoke these functions after the corresponding
allocation function failed.
- Add a ch_count sysfs attribute per target port.

Remove the tagged argument from scsi_adjust_queue_depth, and just let it
handle the queue depth. For most drivers those two are fairly separate,
given that most modern drivers don't care about the SCSI "tagged" status
of a command at all, and many old drivers allow queuing of multiple
untagged commands in the driver.
Instead we start out with the ->simple_tags flag set before calling
->slave_configure, which is how all drivers actually looking at
->simple_tags except for one worke anyway. The one other case looks
broken, but I've kept the behavior as-is for now.
Except for that we only change ->simple_tags from the ->change_queue_type,
and when rejecting a tag message in a single driver, so keeping this
churn out of scsi_adjust_queue_depth is a clear win.
Now that the usage of scsi_adjust_queue_depth is more obvious we can
also remove all the trivial instances in ->slave_alloc or ->slave_configure
that just set it to the cmd_per_lun default.

Currently scsi piggy backs on the block layer to define the concept
of a tagged command. But we want to be able to have block-level host-wide
tags assigned even for untagged commands like the initial INQUIRY, so add
a new SCSI-level flag for commands that are tagged at the scsi level, so
that even commands without that set can have tags assigned to them. Note
that this alredy is the case for the blk-mq code path, and this just lets
the old path catch up with it.
We also set this flag based upon sdev->simple_tags instead of the block
queue flag, so that it is entirely independent of the block layer tagging,
and thus always correct even if a driver doesn't use block level tagging
yet.
Also remove the old blk_rq_tagged; it was only used by SCSI drivers, and

So here's my atomic series, finally all debugged&reviewed. Sean Paul has
done a full detailed pass over it all, and a lot of other people have
commented and provided feedback on some parts. Rob Clark also converted
msm over the w/e and seems happy. The only small thing is that Rob wants
to export the wait_for_vblank, which imo makes sense. Since there's other
stuff still to do I think we should apply Rob's patch (once it has grown
appropriate kerneldoc) later on top of this.
This is just the core<->driver interface plus a big pile of helpers. Short
recap of the main ideas:
- There are essentially three helper libraries in this patch set:
* Transitional helpers to use the new plane callbacks for legacy plane
updates and in the crtc helper's ->mode_set callback. These helpers are
only temporarily used to convert drivers to atomic, but they allow a
nice separation between changing the driver backend and switching to
the atomic commit logic.
* Legacy helpers to implement all the legacy driver entry points
(page_flip, set_config, plane vfuncs) on top of the new atomic driver
interface. These are completely driver agnostic. The reason for having
the legacy support as helpers is that drivers can switch step-by-step.
And they could e.g. even keep the legacy page_flip code around for some
old platforms where converting to full-blown atomic isn't worth it.
* Atomic helpers which implement the various new ->atomic_* driver
interfaces in terms of the revised crtc helper and new plane helper
hooks.
- The revised crtc helper implemenation essentially implements all the
lessons learned in the i915 modeset rework (when using the atomic helpers
only):
* Enable/disable sequence for a given config are always the same and
callbacks are always called in the same order. This contrast starkly
with the crtc helpers, where the sequence of operations is heavily
dependent on the previous config.
One corollary of this is that if the configuration of a crtc only
partially changes (e.g. a connector moves in a cloned config) the
helper code will still disable/enable the full display pipeline. This
is the only way to ensure that the enable/disable sequence is always
the same.
* It won't call disable or enable hooks more than once any more because
it lost track of state, thanks to the atomic state tracking. And if
drivers implement the ->reset hook properly (by either resetting the hw
or reading out the hw state into the atomic structures) this even
extends to the hardware state. So no more disable-me-harder kind of
nonsense.
* The only thing missing is the hw state readout/cross-check support, but
if drivers have hw state readout support in their ->reset handlers it's
simple to extend that to cross-check the hw state.
* The crtc->mode_set callback is gone and its replacement only sets crtc
timings and no longer updates the primary plane state. This way we can
finally implement primary planes properly.
- The new plane helpers should be suitable enough for pretty much
everything, and a perfect fit for hardware with GO bits. Even if they
don't fit the atomic helper library is rather flexible and exports all
the functions for the individual steps to drivers. So drivers can pick
what matches and implement their own magic for everything else.
- A big difference compared to all previous atomic series is that this one
doesn't implement async commit in a generic way. Imo driver requirements
for that are too diverse to create anything reasonable sane which would
actually work on a reasonable amount of different drivers. Also, we've
never had a helper library for page_flips even, so it's really hard to
know what might work and what's stupid without a bit of experience in the form
of a few driver implementations.
I think with the current flexibility for drivers to pick individual
stages and existing helpers like drm_flip_queue it's rather easy though
to implement proper async commit.
- There's a few other differences of minor importance to earlier atomic
series:
* Common/generic properties are parsed in the callers/core and not in
drivers, and passed to drivers by directly setting the right members in
atomic state structures. That greatly simplifies all the transitional
and legacy helpers an removes a lot of boilerplate code.
* There's no crazy trylock mode used for the async commit since these
helpers don't do async commit. A simple ordered flip queue of atomic
state updates should be sufficient for preventing concurrent hw access
anyway, as long as synchronous updates stall correctly with e.g.
flush_work_queue or similar function. Abusing locks to enforce ordering
isn't a good idea imo anyway.
* These helpers reuse the existing ->mode_fixup hooks in the atomic_check
callback. Which means that drivers need to adapat and move a lot less code
into their atomic_check callbacks.
Now this isn't everything needed in the drm core and helpers for full
atomic support. But it's enough to start with converting drivers, and
except for actually testing multiplane and multicrtc updates also enough to
implement full atomic updates. Still missing are:
- Per-plane locking. Since these helpers here encapsulate the locking
completely this should be fairly easy to implement.
- fbdev support for atomic_check/commit, so that multi-pipe finally works
sanely in fbcon.
- Adding and decoding shared/core properties. That just needs to be rebased
from Rob's latest patch series, with minor adjustments so that the
decoding happens in the core instead of in drivers.
- Actually adding the atomic ioctl. Again just rebasing Rob's latest patch
should be all that's needed.
- Resolving how to deal with DPMS in atomic. Atomic is a good excuse to fix up
the crazy semantics dpms currently has. I'm floating an RFC about this topic
already.
- Finally I couldn't test connector/encoder stealing properly since my test
vehicle here doesn't allow a connector on different crtcs. So drivers
which support this might see some surprises in that area. There is no semantic
change though in how encoder stealing and assignment works (or at least no
intended one), so I think the risk is minimal.
As just mentioned I've done a fake conversion of an existing driver using
crtc helpers to debug the helper code and validate the smooth transition
approach. And that smooth transition was the really big motivation for
this. It seems to actually work and consists of 3 phases:
Phase 1: Rework driver backend for crtc/plane helpers
The requirement here is that universal plane support is already implement. If
universal plane support isn't implement yet it might be better though to just do
it as part of this phase, directly using the new plane helpers. There are two
big things to do:
- Split up the existing ->update/disable_plane hooks into check/commit
hooks and extract the crtc-wide prep/flush parts (like setting/clearing
GO bits).
- The other big change is to split the crtc->mode_set hook into the plane
update (done using the plane helpers) and the crtc setup in a new
->mode_set_nofb hook.
When phase 1 is complete the driver implements all the new callbacks which
push the software state into hardware, but still using all the legacy entry
points and crtc helpers. The transitional helpers serve as impendance
mismatch here.
Phase 2: Rework state handling
This consists of rolling out the state handling helpers for planes, crtcs
and connectors and reviewing all ->mode_fixup and similar hooks to make
sure they don't depend upon implicit global state which might change in the
atomic world. Any such code must be moved into ->atomic_check functions which
just rely on the free-standing atomic state update structures.
This phase also adds a few small pieces of fixup code to make sure the
atomic state doesn't get out of sync in the legacy driver callbacks.
Phase 3: Roll out atomic support
Now it's just about replacing vfuncs with the ones provided by the helper
and filling out the small missing pieces (like atomic_check logic or async
commit support needed for page_flips). Due to the prep work in phase 1 no
changes to the driver backend functions should be required, and because of
the prep work in phase 2 atomic implementations can be rolled out
step-by-step. So if async commit ins't implemented yet page_flip can be
implemented with the legacy functions without wreaking havoc in the other
operations.

Most implementations of the bcm7120-l2 controller only have a single
32-bit enable word + 32-bit status word. But some instances have added
more enable/status pairs in order to support 64+ IRQs (which are all
ORed into one parent IRQ input). Make the following changes to allow
the driver to support this:
- Extend DT bindings so that multiple words can be specified for the
reg property, various masks, etc.
- Add loops to the probe/handle functions to deal with each word
separately
- Allocate 1 generic-chip for every 32 IRQs, so we can still use the
clr/set helper functions
- Update the documentation
This uses one domain per bcm7120-l2 DT node. If the DT node defines
multiple enable/status pairs (i.e. >=64 IRQs) then the driver will
create a single IRQ domain with 2+ generic chips. Multiple generic chips
are required because the generic-chip code can only handle one
enable/status register pair per instance.

This patch adds initial support for providing processor cache information
to userspace through sysfs interface. This is based on already existing
implementations(x86, ia64, s390 and powerpc) and hence the interface is
intended to be fully compatible.
The main purpose of this generic support is to avoid further code
duplication to support new architectures and also to unify all the existing
different implementations.
This implementation maintains the hierarchy of cache objects which reflects
the system's cache topology. Cache devices are instantiated as needed as
CPUs come online. The cache information is replicated per-cpu even if they are
shared. A per-cpu array of cache information maintained is used mainly for
sysfs-related book keeping.
It also implements the shared_cpu_map attribute, which is essential for
enabling both kernel and user-space to discover the system's overall cache
topology.
This patch also add the missing ABI documentation for the cacheinfo sysfs
interface already, which is well defined and widely used.

no. of root clock sampling frequencies and has more no.of Rx
fifos to support 7.1CH recording in TDM mode. Due to more no.
of root clock frequency values some of the bit offsets got
shifted up by one. Also I2S1 on previous Samsung platforms
uses v3 dai type but on Exynos7 it is upgraded to v5 with
slightly modified register offsets for supporting more no.of
RFS values. Due to the above changes, the driver has to be
modified to handle all versions of I2S controller. For this
I introduced a new structure to hold modified bit offsets and
masks which is passed as dai data.

Moreover, the AUART controller doesn't handle DTR/DSR/DCD/RI signals,

NUMA systems with ACPI normally describe the physical topology via _PXM
methods. But many BIOSes don't implement _PXM, which leaves the kernel
with no way to discover the device topology, which reduces performance
because we can't put memory and processes close to the device.
The NUMA node of a PCI device is already exported in the sysfs "numa_node"
file. Make that file writable so users can workaround the lack of _PXM
methods in the BIOS. For example:
echo 3 > /sys/devices/pci0000:ff/0000:03:1f.3/numa_node
sets the node for PCI device 0000:03:1f.3.
Writing the file emits a FW_BUG warning to encourage users to request
firmware updates. It also taints the kernel with TAINT_FIRMWARE_WORKAROUND
because overriding the node incorrectly can cause performance issues.

The low-level uart driver may modify termios settings to override
settings that are not compatible with the uart, such as CRTSCTS.
Thus, callers of the low-level uart driver's set_termios() method must
hold termios_rwsem write lock to prevent concurrent access to termios,
in case such override occurs.
The termios_rwsem lock requirement does not extend to console setup
(ie., uart_set_options), as console setup cannot race with tty
operations. Nor does this lock requirement extend to functions which
cannot be concurrent with tty ioctls (ie., uart_port_startup() and
uart_resume_port()).
Further, always claim the port mutex to protect hardware
re-reprogramming in the set_termios() uart driver method. Note this
is unnecessary for console initialization in uart_set_options()
which cannot be concurrent with other uart operations.

The seq_printf() will soon just return void, and seq_has_overflowed()
should be used instead to see if the seq can no longer accept input.
As the return value of debugfs_print_regs32() has no users and
the seq_file descriptor should be checked with seq_has_overflowed()
instead of return values of functions, it is better to just have
debugfs_print_regs32() also return void.

Some differences compared to Rob's patches again:
- Dropped the committed and checked booleans. Checking will be
internally enforced by always calling ->atomic_check before
->atomic_commit. And async handling needs to be solved differently
because the current scheme completely side-steps ww mutex deadlock
avoidance (and so either reinvents a new deadlock avoidance wheel or
like the current code just deadlocks).
- State for connectors needed to be added, since now they have a
full-blown drm_connector_state (so that drivers have something to
attach their own stuff to).
- Refcounting is gone. I plane to solve async updates differently,
since the lock-passing scheme doesn't cut it (since it abuses ww
mutexes). Essentially what we need for async is a simple ownership
transfer from the caller to the driver. That doesn't need full-blown
refcounting.
- The acquire ctx is a pointer. Real atomic callers should have that
on their stack, legacy entry points need to put the right one
(obtained by drm_modeset_legacy_acuire_ctx) in there.
- I've dropped all hooks except check/commit. All the begin/end
handling is done by core functions and is the same.
- commit/check are just thin wrappers that ensure that ->check is
always called.
- To help out with locking in the legacy implementations I've added a
helper to just grab all locks in the backoff case.
v2: Add notices that check/commit can fail with EDEADLK.
v3:
- More consistent naming for state_alloc.
- Add state_clear which is needed for backoff and retry.
v4: Planes/connectors can switch between crtcs, and we need to be
careful that we grab the state (and locks) for both the old and new
crtc. Improve the interface functions to ensure this.
v5: Add functions to grab affected connectors for a crtc and to recompute
the crtc->enable state. This is useful for both helper and atomic ioctl
code when e.g. removing a connector.
v6: Squash in fixup from Fengguang to use ERR_CAST.
v7: Add debug output.
v8: Make checkpatch happy about kcalloc argument ordering.
v9: Improve kerneldoc in drm_crtc.h
v10:
- Fix another kcalloc argument misorder I've missed.
- More polish for kerneldoc.
v11: Clarify the ownership rules for the state object. The new rule is
that a successful drm_atomic_commit (whether synchronous or asnyc)
always inherits the state and is responsible for the clean-up. That
way async and sync ->commit functions are more similar.
v12: A few bugfixes:
- Assign state->state pointers correctly when grabbing state objects -
we need to link them up with the global state.
- Handle a NULL crtc in set_crtc_for_plane to simplify code flow a bit
for the callers of this function.
v13: Review from Sean:
- kerneldoc spelling fixes
- Don't overallocate states->planes.
- Handle NULL crtc in set_crtc_for_connector.
v14: Sprinkle __must_check over all functions which do wait/wound
locking to make sure callers don't forget this. Since I have ;-)
v15: Be more explicit in the kerneldoc when functions can return
-EDEADLK what to do. And that every other -errno is fatal.
v16: Indent with tabs instead of space, spotted by Ander.
v17: Review from Thierry, small kerneldoc and other naming polish.

With release of ACPI 5.1 and _DSD method we can finally name GPIOs (and
other things as well) returned by _CRS. Previously we were only able to
use integer index to find the corresponding GPIO, which is pretty error
prone if the order changes.
With _DSD we can now query GPIOs using name instead of an integer index,
like the below example shows:
// Bluetooth device with reset and shutdown GPIOs
Device (BTH)
{
Name (_HID, ...)
Name (_CRS, ResourceTemplate ()
{
GpioIo (Exclusive, PullUp, 0, 0, IoRestrictionInputOnly,
"\\_SB.GPO0", 0, ResourceConsumer) {15}
GpioIo (Exclusive, PullUp, 0, 0, IoRestrictionInputOnly,
"\\_SB.GPO0", 0, ResourceConsumer) {27, 31}
})
Name (_DSD, Package ()
{
ToUUID("daffd814-6eba-4d8c-8a91-bc9bbf4aa301"),
Package ()
{
Package () {"reset-gpio", Package() {^BTH, 1, 1, 0 }},
Package () {"shutdown-gpio", Package() {^BTH, 0, 0, 0 }},
}
})
}
The format of the supported GPIO property is:
Package () { "name", Package () { ref, index, pin, active_low }}
ref - The device that has _CRS containing GpioIo()/GpioInt() resources,
typically this is the device itself (BTH in our case).
index - Index of the GpioIo()/GpioInt() resource in _CRS starting from zero.
pin - Pin in the GpioIo()/GpioInt() resource. Typically this is zero.
active_low - If 1 the GPIO is marked as active_low.
Since ACPI GpioIo() resource does not have field saying whether it is
active low or high, the "active_low" argument can be used here. Setting
it to 1 marks the GPIO as active low.
In our Bluetooth example the "reset-gpio" refers to the second GpioIo()
resource, second pin in that resource with the GPIO number of 31.
This patch implements necessary support to gpiolib for extracting GPIOs
using _DSD device properties.

The device tree structure is composed of two lists; the 'allnodes' list
which is a singly linked list containing every node in the tree, and the
child->parent structure where each parent node has a singly linked list
of children. All of the data in the allnodes list can be easily
reproduced with the parent-child lists, so of_allnodes is actually
unnecessary. Remove it entirely which saves a bit of memory and
simplifies the data structure quite a lot.

This patch adds a new proc entry for PCM substreams to inject an
XRUN. When a PCM substream is running and any value is written to its
xrun_injection proc file, the driver triggers XRUN. This is a useful
feature for debugging XRUN and error handling code paths.
Note that this entry is enabled only when CONFIG_SND_PCM_XRUN_DEBUG is
set.

ALSA PCM core has a mechanism tracking the PCM hwptr updates for
analyzing XRUNs. But its log is limited (up to 10) and its log output
is a kernel message, which is hard to handle.
In this patch, the hwptr logging is moved to the tracing
infrastructure instead of its own. Not only the hwptr updates but
also XRUN and hwptr errors are recorded on the trace log, so that user
can see such events at the exact timing.
The new "snd_pcm" entry will appear in the tracing events:
# ls -F /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/events/snd_pcm
enable filter hw_ptr_error/ hwptr/ xrun/
The hwptr is for the regular hwptr update events. An event trace
looks like:
aplay-26187 [004] d..3 4012.834761: hwptr: pcmC0D0p/sub0: POS: pos=488, old=0, base=0, period=1024, buf=16384
"POS" shows the hwptr update by the explicit position update call and
"IRQ" means the hwptr update by the interrupt,
i.e. snd_pcm_period_elapsed() call. The "pos" is the passed
ring-buffer offset by the caller, "old" is the previous hwptr, "base"
is the hwptr base position, "period" and "buf" are period- and
buffer-size of the target PCM substream.
(Note that the hwptr position displayed here isn't the ring-buffer
offset. It increments up to the PCM position boundary.)
The XRUN event appears similarly, but without "pos" field.
The hwptr error events appear with the PCM identifier and its reason
string, such as "Lost interrupt?".
The XRUN and hwptr error reports on kernel message are still left, can
be turned on/off via xrun_debug proc like before. But the bit 3, 4, 5
and 6 bits of xrun_debug proc are dropped by this patch. Also, along
with the change, the message strings have been reformatted to be a bit
more consistent.
Last but not least, the hwptr reporting is enabled only when
CONFIG_SND_PCM_XRUN_DEBUG is set.

HIRD threshold should be configurable by different platforms.
From DesignWare databook:
When HIRD_Threshold[4] is set to 1b1 and HIRD value is greater than or
equal to the value in HIRD_Threshold[3:0], dwc3 asserts output signals
utmi_l1_suspend_n to put PHY into Deep Low-Power mode in L1.
When HIRD_Threshold[4] is set to 1b0 or the HIRD value is less than
HIRD_Threshold[3:0], dwc3 asserts output signals utmi_sleep_n on L1.
